Depends if pick 4 is taken, I am trying my best not to get my hopes up until Nov. 19th. In regards to this, it's not exactly the case so far it's Scully + 2011 pick 12 for Mitch Clark (freed money in the salary cap) + Dom Barry, Chris Dawes, and Hogan (or more technically pick 4 over Hogan). Without his departure non of these would of been possible.

Mark my words, Wines will be a star! Appears very switched on with a good head on his shoulders, a real blue chip player. If the dees can land him I will be over the moon. His "Pick me" interview via the Hun reminds me of the American NFL draft pick #1 and current quarterback star Peyton Manning. Please note the comparisons. Interviews: Wines via Hun as previously discussed. http://www.heraldsun...f-1226509826657 NFL fraft bust about Ryan Leaf, but see his comparison with Manning (then compare Wines with Manning, very similar attitutes and work ethic). Lets draft skinny bean poles... because ummm they haven't reached their full potential, they are all "class".

Thanks for sharing Norm Smith's Curse, If this eventuates, I hope it is Gysberts + Pick 49 (with or without) FOR Pick 15 + Pedersen, that seems like a fair trade to me. I certainly hope it's not Gysberts FOR Pedersen + Pick 38 or 39. Saying all this, I rate Gysberts and I also want Pedersen. Furthermore, would we be able to land Stringer at 15... I bloody hope so! Although it wouldn't surprise me if he went as early as pick 5 or 6 (the other being Wines or O'Rourke) by the Dogs as he has trained there, it's said they were very impressed with him and they missed out on Hogan (screaming for a ready to go forward target).
-
Bare minimum I would want 8 wins, more so 10. I see clubs like Port, Dogs, and the Saints going down the ladder, and of course the Suns and Giants to remain down the bottom for the next season or two. So we are easily capable of getting above those. Of course I would love to see us shut down Essendon again (I HATE THEM!), and we could certainly give the Lions, Tigers, and Kangas a run for their money. So yes anymore than 10 wins in 2013 will make me very pleased come 2014.
-
I agree with this, however I think Williams should be extended, he too works his ass off! So far Sheahan and Lawrence have been cut, and Evans to me is a 50/50.

@maurie, the same person to shoot down Nudge.... i feel sorry for you. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yRSYhLn4RCI

Thanks Nudge love your work! As for future tradings, I hope the Pedersen deal works out. I also hope above all else we can get a deal done to secure an early-mid first round draft pick by bundling a few OC players (or ones looking for a trade like Martin or Gysberts) potentially with the FA compo pick (Moloney & Rivers) to acquire Jake Stringer. He would then join other first years like Viney, Barry, Wines/O'Rourke, and Hogan (2014), then that to me would be the ULTIMATE trade/draft period by essentially acquiring 4x top 5 picks along with experience from Dawes and Brynes and a younger Pedersen to step in and replace Rivers. Fingers crossed

I must say what a UNIT!
-
The footage was obtained after he broke his leg. I think this is an interesting picture, it appears he has taped a shin guard in front of where the break occurred.
-
Finally some playing footage has surfaced, and I must say this excites me... [media=] I wouldn't mind the club taking the risk and trying to pick him up, his fitness can be improved and hopefully the leg can be managed. I think if these two things are done (by any club) he may very well be in the same categories as C. Judd, J. Selwood or D. Heppell, all of which slid in their respective drafts due to junior football injuries. Although on that note, with the picks we currently have (pick 20 likely going for Dawes) I think it's very unlikely we will land him.

I love seeing this, Carn Dees hit the nail on the head back in 2010.Sorry, of course I don't love it. I would of preferred to see the kid succeed, but I just find it amazing he hit the nail on the head.
-
I was unaware of such an attitude, can you or someone please elaborate on this more?

Jack Viney once made love in the front seat of a pick up truck... that truck is now known as Optimus Prime.

I believe a rejuvenated forward line will do wonders for the team and midfielders in particular. As there will be better options, I think we will begin to see an increase in confidence and thus better plays and deliveries into the forward line, where the team will be rewarded from an increased amount of set shot goals.

Stef Martin needed as key back for opposition gorillas
ignition. replied to Tex's topic in Melbourne Demons
I couldn't disagree more! First of all I will state I like and rate Martin, although he is a B+ ruck and C+ to B- forward. He should not be getting played in the back line and besides we have Frawley, T Mac, and potentially Pedersen on the way. Secondly he is currently in contract, therefore if he is traded there will be some form of agreeance with him. We hear Neeld saying he wants 100% compliance, this is because not all players over the past year agreed with his game plan and methods, like Moloney. This doesn't mean that Martin was one, but for all we know he may want out. Finally if we can get Dawes, Ray and pick 39 for Martin, pick 20, pick 45, I would consider that a pretty big trade WIN! -
From the bottom of a sauce bottle – 3 way trade
ignition. replied to Number 2's topic in Melbourne Demons
Good question Theo, it is a possibility but I think there is no way GWS will knock back Grundy. They already have an exciting young midfield, yet lack an exciting young ruckman. Other than Giles they don't really have a standout, so I think it's more than likely Grundy* will go at 2 or 3. EDIT: * I accidentally wrote Giles. -
This is my list of MFC players currently out of contract: OUT OF CONTRACT: FUTURES UNKNOWN Dan Nicholson Jake Spencer James Strauss Jamie Bennell Lynden Dunn Matthew Bate Neville Jetta Ricky Petterd Rohan Bail Troy Davis OUT OF CONTRACT: 50/50 TRADE or DELISTING Clint Bartram (Knee issue) Jared Rivers (U-FA) CONTRACTED PLAYERS OPTING FOR TRADE* Cale Morton Stephan Martin NOTE: * indicated for CONTRACTED players is only based of rumours, like that of the potential Martin trades and that Morton has opted for one to be potentially set up. CONFIRMED TO BE DELISTED Brad Green (Retired) Brent Moloney (R-FA to BL) Liam Jurrah (Retired) Lucas Cook (Trade OR Delisted) Kelvin Lawrence (Delisted Rookie) In regards to the list I think players like Nicholson and Bail will be re-signed (only based on my interpretations of MFC media and Neeld press conferences), I think Bate, Bartram, and either Jetta or Bennell may go, as for Rivers the ball is obviously in his court, and finally I think Petterd (trade) and Davis (delist) will go. As for the others like Spencer (depending on Martin), and Strauss I have no idea. Sorry I placed in a table but it got messed up.

Hi NUDGE, any updates mate? I've been hanging and I think I must check if you've updated your threads every time I come on (~20-30x a day lol). I appreciate the intel and obviously many others do to! Cheers

Yes true, I'm sorry if I offended anyone and maggot was a bit too far. I did get a little carried away directly after reading the article to hear he is now desperate to prove the club wrong by finally working very hard to gain 3 kg in the off season, although thinking this dedication should of been shown at the start of the year. I will be more than happy to delete the post. EDIT: It also grinds my gears to think it was this club that gave him his first opportunity, knowing they have given him every chance to succeed, paid him a decent wage when yet he never really delivered. Even at Casey.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DOMINIC BARRY
ignition. replied to fuchsia's topic in Melbourne Demons
I just came across this old article released post championships with Barry rated as a top-end draft pick. This gets me even more excited about this kid, great work on the deal MFC! http://www.afl.com.au/tabid/208/default.aspx?newsid=144594 -
Hahaa of course. Thanks mate cheers

Most likely the GWS picks 1, 2, and 3 will be used on Whitfield, Grundy, and Toumpas. The next two best players in line for contention at pick 4 will be Wines and O'Rourke, personally I'm a huge fan of Wines who I rate higher. If the pick isn't traded or if Toumpas isn't available I think Neeld and co. will select Wines. We hear Neeld say things like "winning the ball" and "contested footy", we also know that Neeld likes pre-built ready to go players. Wines suits his style as he is practically ready to go at 185 cm and 83 kg. He applies plenty of pressure, lays hard tackles and gets himself plenty of the contested footy. Furthermore he has a great head on his shoulders and growing up he was best mates with Jack Viney, it seems both are very competitive always striving to out-do each other and push themselves to their limits to obtain success. Something that off field will reflect highly on their training and development (may even rub off on a few other players), yet on field I could just see these to work and watch out for one another in a contested situation. http://www.smh.com.a...1006-276ao.html In saying all this, I do rate O'Rourke and I do like his use of the ball and outside game but as I said I'm a Wines fan. Here are some statistics and scores comparing the two: U-18 Championship statistics (Game Averages): Wines (Games = 4): Disposals = 24.25, Marks = 4.75, Tackles = 5.25, Goals = 0.5, Behinds = 1.5. O'Rourke (Games = 4): Disposals = 18.5, Marks = 3.5, Tackles = 2.75, Goals = 0.75, Behinds = 0.25. Statistics obtained from the Carlton Draught match centre: http://www.afl.com.a...=7934&tab=Recap NAB 2012 Draft Combine Beep-test: Wines: 14.3 O'Rouke: 14.4 http://www.sportingp...icleID=20823503

This may be a dumb question or I'm just having a blonde moment but can someone please expand and define what "PSD" means? I am guessing post selection delisting or something like that. "Ben Warren to demons via trade or PSD"

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JESSE HOGAN
ignition. replied to Little Richard's topic in Melbourne Demons
To any other club yes, but GWS have a very large inexperienced list that they will have to go through a cull shortly. A better pick with 3 may be better than a 5 & 20 for them in their situation.
