Finally someone game enough to say it, agreed! Be wary of the pitchforks
-
Most people here, including myself don't know enough about Aish. We only hear and read about how great he is via a game of Chinese whispers, by the end we think he's the next big thing or God's gift and like most years regarding the top 3 selections they fail to live up to those expectations within their first two years. It will usually take anywhere from 3-5 years before we see the true signs as to how great they will or won't become (consistency within their game). Would I take Martin, yes... although if another excellent player like Sloane, D.Swallow, S. Selwood, or Rockliff (age 21-24) with a better work ethic and off field persona is available I would go them.
-
Correct me if I'm wrong, but is he out of contract this year, delisted or likely to be delisted? I've read it somewhere but can't remember. If we can get him for next to nothing in a trade or pick him up as a delisted free agent I would be for it.
-
I really hope we can get this kid with our second round pick. I can't see him sliding too far beyond the late 20's if that.
-
Agreed, lets hope mate

Hahaha I have no idea, I probably won't even get around to buying the razor as I would die from a combined heart attack and stroke due to all the excitement

The clean out continues! Satterley, Nichol and Greaves all Gawn!

Here we go again... Already getting cranky and starting arguments after hearing assistant coaches contracts will not be renewed. Pull your hand off it mate. -
If Roos convinces any two players amongst Sloane, Martin, D.Swallow, S.Selwood, Shuey and or Rockliff to come to the Dees for 2014 I will buy myself the newest and latest Gillette razor, have a clean shave and then walk into the Melbourne FC and sign my partner up as a member (I'm already a member, I converted her a couple years ago, but will have to sign her up at some point).

In all honesty I find it hard to judge them individually from an outside perspective. I believe it's more so that Roos wants assistants that will already know or adapt easily to his game plan and style. As he's stated he "doesn't want to be coaching the coaches", and considering they were apart of the massive failure that was Melbourne under the likes of Neeld and Co. certainly doesn't help their situation. -
Well that's my wishful thinking anyway

The forward line is a pleasing sign with the likes off Dawes, Clark, and Hogan. Then having Watts and Howe rotating through from the defense and midfield respectively. I also look forward to seeing what Kent will bring in the future along with Fitzpatrick and Gawn adding some quality depth. We see people harp on about the possibility of obtaining Boyd if we receive a PP, as much as I would love to see Hogan and Boyd line up together for the next decade I would much rather obtain one or two quality midfielders from a three way trade (Sloane, S. Selwood, D. Swallow, Rockcliff, or Martin) and have improved delivery into that forward line stated above. Furthermore I hope the club re-drafts Jurrah (late pick) to add to that mix along with the employment of an indigenous ex-player to help aid and guide him back in the system.

Am I complaining, not at all. Radical changes needed to be made and they are occurring. Now I look forward to see who the new appointments will be. -
No need to apologize it's a great thread. I agree with what's been stated above - he is an essential player and I too believe Roos can convince him to stay. Although I hope it's sooner rather than later while all this hype surrounding the club and it's future is high. Because if we finish say just outside the eight next year (let's hope it's higher) I believe more persuasion will be required for Frawley this time next year than what has been needed for Watts this year with the attached unknown yet exciting future under the likes of Roos.
-
I see this as a win win situation. If we can obtain Martin so be it, it's a win. Although I would concerned about his off field misdemeanors. If he decides to re-sign with Richmond it's a win as we've driven his price up and subsequently tightened the Richmond salary cap, reducing their odds as a competitor over a couple trade periods. Ideally I would prefer the later and use the money on say a Rockcliff, Sloane, S. Selwood or even D. Swallow but if it eventuates I won't be complaining.
-
I would much rather see the club go after Tom Rockliff, he has a similar game to Martin without the excess baggage off field.
-
Couldn't agree more,I also hope you use that as one of your theories for your supercoach and or dreamteam, it's helped me win back to back SC premierships over the last two years

No worries mate

Seems like cartledge (meniscus). "Michie fell awkwardly during the second term against Swan Districts and tore the meniscus in his right knee." http://www.afl.com.au/news/2013-08-12/michies-knee-blow

Sorry mate I remember seeing this blokes name pop up a while ago but can't quite recall why? It also appears he has only played 1 game in the AFL and was below average with 13 disposals (unless if he was the sub). I saw a nice clip on youtube regarding a game of his in the WAFL, just curious how's he gone all year? and curious why Roos would consider him a target? Cheers
-
On skill and as a player alone, absolutely. With his attached off-field misdemeanors and likeliness of looking for better deal when this one expires, probably not. He is currently within a great culture and at a club well and truly on the rise. Because of the later, I would prefer David Swallow.

THE DRAFT: TAC CUP FUTURE STARS ROLLING DRAFT
ignition. replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
I reckon the 173 cm Lewis Taylor will potentially slide to our second pick at the start of the 2nd round, only because history shows. Similar to Ruckman, clubs appear concerned about using their fisrt pick on a small/ short player (exc. Collingwoods picks 18, 19 and 20 in the 2012 draft). Andrew Hooper 172 cm Joint Larke Medal winner 2010: Slid to #35 in the rookies. Ben Kennedy 174 cm. Another highly rated youngster: Slid to #19 in the 2012 ND. Nathan Hrovat 174. Won the VM Metro MVP ahead of the likes of O'Rourke (ND pick #2) and slid to pick 21. If we have the chance of obtaining Taylor with our second pick I would be stoked if the club snapped him up (obviously depended on who else may potentially slide). -
Jamar is signed until the end of next year, he was over the moon to know he will be a one club player. I don't see him going anywhere. As for Jolly, the game is beyond him, I couldn't care less about his desires, we don't need him.

If he's helped see the rise of the GC Suns this last season he seems like a beut.
