Lloyd: Trade Oliver or Brayshaw
No unless the something were a low first round... (wait a minute we had one of those ??)

Lloyd: Trade Oliver or Brayshaw
No way for Oliver... Brayshaw as you say will get you around pick 25 or as a trade an 8-16 ranked player in another team. The latter is more likely if another team has a need. There is also the problem of his salary. Performance wise he's overpaid. Although I would hate to see it Viney might get us more

Rising Stars vs the Dees
the median looks around 17. To be an outlier (27) to that extent is as usual damning. While we may have lost to also give a leg up to first year talent....

Gawn In Doubt for Crows?
Obviously need to rest players. Seriously if we can't beat the Crows with a few players being rested we are worse than I think we are. North and Collingwood are the tests for those who think there is still life in this season.

The Rest of the Season
Yep I have come to accept that Goodwin isn't going anywhere. My fatalist acceptance means he has to reinvent himself. Snagging a few wins this year doesn't excite me. Would prefer to see a path. That doesn't mean not winning or simply playing the kids. Rather it means pushing this list to see what we have. Anyway there's a lot more to concern ourselves with this year than the perennial failure of the MFC.

Deep Dive into Dees Issues
we have known that for the last 12 months and it was re enforced in Round 1 after which he had a three month break and then in rounds 2 and 3 etc he doubles down with his small forward line. Not sure this guy is capable of learning If you want to look at two contrasting examples look how Hardwick played with a young team by slowing the game down against the dogs and keeping his two key talls deep forward. Against Port (ladder leader and fast team) we just go business as usual.

Fixture 2020 (COVID Edition)
And now SA has a few cases... football crowds under review Was watching the Storm game yesterday played at a small stadium on the Sunshine Coast. The grass terraces were packed with people basking in the winter sunshine. Looked very pleasant. Article in the papers today about perhaps too many. https://www.theage.com.au/national/queensland/crowd-size-and-social-distancing-under-review-after-sunshine-coast-nrl-game-20200803-p55hvy.html And it seems that NT may not be ideal https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-08-03/coronavirus-fears-prompts-fresh-calls-to-close-uluru-to-tourists/12517726 The Mutitjulu Community Aboriginal Corporation (MCAC) is so worried about the potential spread of coronavirus through inter-state visitors that members of the group have started to blockade an entrance to the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park today.

Northern Territory Games
Brilliant.. I'm trying to think of some wonderful name for the extravaganza of football in the red centre. We could even have a song sung to the tune of Living next door to Alice

NON MFC: Round 09
Dear Foory Fan I have appointed an inquiry to consider this issue. It would not be appropriate for me to comment publicly in advance of that inquiry. Respectfully Yours Gil

NON MFC: Round 09
he also took possession of the ball on many occasions and dealt with it in a manner that benefitted his team. Have always wondered why Gawn does not do the same as an occasional tactic.

NON MFC: Round 09
As have Port, Lions and Pies (measured from 2017) and maybe even GCS.

COVID Breaches by Clubs Could Derail Season
You have to admire Collingwood. When they do something they do it BIG. Sidebottom and now Buckley ?

COVID Breaches by Clubs Could Derail Season
Alicia Molik... They are in Perth remember for those suggesting Nick K (lives in the ACT)

The Rest of the Season
Interesting analogy Most could see very little from the trenches despite their unquestionable loyalty and bravery. (Did you know that the outbreak of WW1 can be traced back to Waterloo? Irrelevant but fascinating.)

The Rest of the Season
No I'm looking for the medium term This year is a write off. The Geelong loss killed any momentum. The Brisbane and Port losses merely confirmed it. A win against North and Adelaide will merely paper the cracks. Mindlessly swimming against the current is what the last how many years has been. The current gameplan is continual "mediocrity" as you term it if not worse. Break the Wheel ! (seriously though... Goodwin has to re -invent this team and the sooner we accept it the better. The alternative is a new coach and another questionable rebuild.)

NON MFC: Round 09
Puts paid to the hard to come up after such a tough game in the wet/damp theory. Would like to play Essendon after their Darwin game... Alice perhaps

NON MFC: Round 09
A poster last evening said that he was told by Gabba attendants that the home team decided attendance limits. I expect we have to pay the stadium and if you can't sell the tickets for what ends up being excess security etc.. bad luck

The Rest of the Season
That got us nowhere in the second half of 2019. Need to plan for 2021. If it gets you a win .. great. Would you play Corey/Josh Wagner for example in place of Jetta rather than one of the 2018 draftees. Same goes for playing Hunt. No one's saying throw the positions around for the sake of it. We are committed to Tomlinson and Langdon. Time to play them and see if we can model a strategy around them. Playing the best team by default means in the short term following the gameplan that has got us nowhere for the last 3-4 years. As the Dragon Queen used to say....Time to break the wheel...

Angus Brayshaw
rumoured to be on a salary of over $1M so maybe not... but I like your thinking

COVID Breaches by Clubs Could Derail Season
This has been spun beautifully by the AFL...the offenders were confused and club admin could have done a better job explaining the rules.
-
The Rest of the Season
Agree... a priority is to see if we can cover Jetta. Those who will be moved on are a little easier..the Wagners, Neitschke, KK (needs to be paid out), Bradtke and maybe Hunt.

Is Alistair Clarkson worth a discussion
Good analysis but in the absence of a break clause unlikely. You may recall that Goodwin's contract was delayed and I suspect he was making sure it had reasonable security. Good on him. If we terminate him early we have to compensate him for the base plus the chance of the bonuses. Measuring the loss of a chance is difficult but it is commonly done in legal proceedings. There's always the Scott outcome where it was said that he walked from North on the understanding of a full payout less what he got should he take up a coaching position with another club. As it turned out he didn't get another job so I assume he got the full payout. Combine that with the fact that Shaw would have come cheap at least in his initial years and you understand how North were able to afford it. Clarkson on the other hand would not come cheap.

The Rest of the Season
Ah ...optimism. Were you a Collingwood supporter in a previous life

The Rest of the Season
Realistically we will win between 2 and 5. At least winning five gives us some satisfaction re trading our first Round pick. Just saw that Norf have put the cue in the rack by dropping Polec and Brown. It's your anything else that interests me....

The Rest of the Season
For the ever optimistic the season may still be alive but for realists it finished against Brisbane and definitely against Port. The pity of course is that like last year it comes so early in a year when we are desperate for diversion. Normally my mind would now turn to a second team which in recent years has been GWS but they seem to have lost that flair. So what can we salvage out of this mess so the club goes into 2021 with some impetus. For me it's the development of Weideman and Fritsch along with our crop from the 2019 draft. Not much faith in Smith but I'm prepared to see if he has a spot..... probably in the backline. Happy to rest Gawn if that improves his longevity. Plenty of options for relief ruck. And of course for the sake of our sanity and Goodwin's well being some variation in our style of play from time to time. Any other suggestions?
