Fixture 2020 (COVID Edition)
I doubt it simply because it's too soon. One of the driving forces for the Cairns hub is money into the North. That will require two teams to relocate for over two weeks. Hard to make that happen in the present block of announced matches. BTW Bulldogs used to play in Cairns. Perhaps it could be them and the Suns. If so we could end up playing the Dogs in Cairns. All rather academic if we lose the next two games... so fingers crossed

TEAMS: Rd 08 vs Brisbane
Gold Coast forecast significantly amended from a few days ago. Now showing little rain on Sunday. Saturday still wet with up to 40mm

I sense that they are softening us all up to be able to pay Buddy out outside the salary cap.

Fingers crossed you are correct. Gutwein has to okay it. Interesting power play as Tas Govt has to pay if North go there. Frankly I think Tassie has better things to spend its money on this year

TEAMS: Rd 08 vs Brisbane
Tough but there's little doubt that selection cost us a real chance in at least two games. (Richmond, Geelong) On the flip side credit where is it is due. Most of us picked Brown in front of Jackson last week.

Article in today's Age about how the AFL can't afford to allow the Swans to become "Ugly Ducklings Again". Forty years in Sydney and still no decent following. What hope GWS, GCS and Brisbane. Get ready for more concessions

TEAMS: Rd 08 vs Brisbane
Makes sense..my thinking re Tom Mac was that he could use his strength to bring the ball to ground whereas both Weid and Jackson can be questionable in that regard. Jackson's ground play is very promising as is his ruck follow up... reminded me of a young Natanui

NON MFC: Round 08
Picking from a what is good for MFC viewpoint there are several interesting matches. If Adelaide could bet the Bombers that would be fantastic. As for the others depends if you are an optimist or a pessimist. Believing us to be clearly top 4 material ?I'm going for GWS North Port Dockers Eagles Bulldogs Hawks and Swans to draw And Storm to thrash the Broncos !!

Just saw the Gold Coast weather forecast 80mm approx predicted over the next three days Not our favourite playing conditions. Jones in for AVB and probably T Mac for Jackson

Few players come back from a broken leg at anywhere near their previous form. Best of luck to Jack. I hope he has planned his post football life.

Norf vs Us in Tassie answers that one. Sending Port to Queensland to play us is another example. Why not send one team at a time to Adelaide and they play Port and Adelaide and then the next team rotates in. The AFL is still apparently being driven by an incessant desire for every last dollar.

The cash goes the other way. This is North trying to fulfil its sponsorship contract. Tassie may want to spend its money on other things

Fixture 2020 (COVID Edition)
Lose to Brisbane and Port= season probably over... we would need to win 6/7 out of the next nine Norf is now a 50/50 game at best. Adelaide will throw everything at us to avoid a winless season. Loss to Geelong screwed our season

Fixture 2020 (COVID Edition)
MFC aren't the Storm and never will be. The fixture does us little favour. Let's see what the next two weeks bring... we are as usual on the precipice. PS:The unnecessary trip to Tasmania is nothing more than money for North... guess who is the bunny

Will be interesting if we play Port and Adelaide in Adelaide. Makes sense to play them in consecutive weeks and stay in Adelaide. It seems to make little difference as to whether you are nominally the home or away team in this strange season

Mildura and Albury can take 737's so no problem with direct charter flights. We're now on an alternative route so the debate is probably moot. Go Dees

What they're saying down at Glenferrie Road
Believe it or not they did start a coach thread in 2018 that is still going. It had a slightly different title than ours.... https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/will-clarkson-add-a-5th-premiership-by-the-end-of-2022.1208116/ This was a post today... There's a higher chance of the AFL shrinking back to a Victoria only comp than Hawthorn winning another premiership ever. Almost MFCSS !

All of the towns I mentioned have airports. Albury and Mildura have quite decent airports. Wagga and Wang are 2 hours by bus from Albury. The regions have really been hung out to dry by this lockdown when they could have been used as minor growth engines in their own right. My comment was really not about the AFL but about how slow we are to look in our own backyard for solutions. The comment about priorities is an obvious one but really governments have more than one person involved. For example the Deputy Premier whoever he or she is could be put in charge of the regions. Anyway time for the other States to do some heavy lifting in the economic stakes. Perhaps a rejig of the GST formula in favour of Victoria...(watch WA and Qld scream). Never thought I would live to see the degree of parochialism that is presently being exhibited. Thought that went with Joh Bjelke.- CHANGES: Rd 08 vs Brisbane
Can't see how you could play three talls plus Fritsch. Interesting discussion though. If AVB goes out it's for Jones or perhaps Sparrow (who I don't really know much about.) - Fixture 2020 (COVID Edition)
