  1. No team has ever done that apparently. Lowest score is: St Kilda 0.1 (1) against Geelong 23.24 (162) at Corio Oval Round 17 1899 PS: Hawks just scored grrrrrr
  2. Eagles have a tough run home with only the games against Hawks and North ones you would classify as easy. The others are against Giants, Tigers Bombers, Bulldogs and Saints. In the unlikely event they lost say three or four out of the five harder games it's more likely that the Tigers would slip into the top four than us. Nice to dream though... Traditionally we aren't bad at doing a Bradbury when it comes to making the 8 etc
  3. Wonderfully satisfying four quarter win. That it was against the Pies is as Bruce would say.... "Special" Very much enjoying Oliver kicking more and of course Spargo. Also very happy for Hibberd in this difficult year. Petracca is playing well but if he and Brayshaw can lift a gear we might be able to match it with the big boys. The next six games are an almost impossibly gruelling schedule but each is winnable. Unfortunately the top 4 appears beyond our reach even if we do the impossible. In this strange season there is probably little difference between finishing fifth or eighth.
  4. Saints v Bombers my mind is mush as to who we wish to win. So many permutations.. for the optimist I suspect it's the bombers and I tend to agree..... just
  5. 2 straight to 1.4 that quarter need to finish it off
  6. yeah !! was just about to post that we needed a goal
  7. rain to hit in around 15 mins It's a small storm with a heavy central cell. Could miss the Gabba but it will make it slippery
  8. 11 goals and now into the 39th minute !!
  9. yep... we could and should have put them away ....
  10. Fritsch could be up there in the Coleman race if he could get his first season accuracy back grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
  11. Just a few I have noticed over the years Port followers definitely have a "we will fail as the season progresses" ethos. I found Hawks the most arrogant with their 2018 poll on how many premierships Clarkson would deliver post 2018...not if but how many !!! Freo think they are the drafting kings. Essendon are believers. Richmond are feral ( the thread on what they thought of Hugh Rimmington the reporter who broke the Chol story is a classic) Have never been to the Saints board but I would like to think they are similar to us.
  12. we usually win if we kick straight and the other team doesn't if that is of any help
  13. Perspective One was bad luck (Eagles in the first round) The second is our fault in that we need the NT money and thus Alice Springs Imagine if we'd had to go to Tasmania !! At 7 venues we're in the mix. There is no doubt that Saints were favoured simply because for a while they were good for the media narrative. 2021 likely to be be a strange season as well
  14. So you really think he worked this out in training ? It was bad team selection but keep on believing if you must
  15. bit of a puffpiece and still doesn't explain why he wasn't picked. We all knew his faults and I doubt that a few training sessions fixed them.He needed matches. The reality is that goodwin backed his inferior gameplan and lost. Shades of repetition with his continual inclusion of AVB but that's for another thread.
  16. what I do know is that the 3 if not 4 of the usual suspects will be in the prelims That's Geelong Richmond and Eagles The fourth spot between Port and Brisbane with Pies and Giants as long range possibles
  17. Many of us never got off it. Starting to accept we are an 8-12 team at best.
  18. A geelong premiership would really cap off a very special year
  19. Collingwood: IN Ben Reid, Darcy Moore, Jamie Elliott, Scott Pendlebury, Will Hoskin-Elliott OUT Brayden Sier (Injured), Chris Mayne (Omitted), Jaidyn Stephenson (Omitted), Jordan Roughead (Injured), Tim Broomhead (Omitted) (Big Ins for the Pies) -
  20. The definition of active cases is "no longer under quarantine". Apparently this period varies by how badly you have it from a minimum of 2 weeks to a period of 3-6 weeks. My guess is there are a lot of old folk in the figure and thus the slow decline. As an aside Singapore has had 50,000 plus cases among its foreign worker community due to cramped living conditions but not one death that I know of.
  21. Yep that Geelong loss effectively finished our season. Posted this some weeks ago. Realistically we needed a win against Port or Brisbane to recover. The only thing to change from 4 odd weeks ago is that the Pies game has become 50/50 as perhaps so too has the GWS game. Still a very hard task and while possible on a game by game basis the cumulative challenge leaves little room for error.
  22. One thing that has been bugging me about these stage three vaccine trials is that they are being done against a community background of masks, lockdowns, PPE physical distancing, limited movement etc etc when what we need is for the vaccine to be effective in an "open world" environment. One assumes they model the different scenarios but it can't be easy.
  23. Tactics very important for this game. Likely to be a low scoring slog in the damp. Pies will go in favourites but it will be a toss up. About time we had some luck perhaps. On another point, pre season I posted that 8 wins would save Goodwin. That was based on a 22 game season. With a 17 game season he's safe with 6 wins so I think we can soon put that issue aside until next year.
