  1. Very sad news - whatever Aaron decides to do now I wish him all the best
  2. I hope that isn't serious - he has had such a terrible run and deserves to have some luck
  3. Jake Bowey can play footy - has very good balance, good side step and dare I say it you could argue is already the best kick on the list Bailey Laurie seems a natural footballer - he has very good hands and awareness in traffic - I still have a slight question mark on speed but overall quite promising Fraser Rosman I think has potential but may take a bit more time than others hoped
  4. You could argue we have tried to do that too - but alas they just get injured
  5. Cupping is supposed to promote better blood flow and relief of muscle pain - no idea if it works Probably to ease pain from a corky or similar
  6. One day we will finally run out of pathetic excuses and win a flag
  7. I'm not suggesting they have zero interest - obviously they do What I am suggesting is that the gap that exists between best and worst for some players on our list is too big and not acceptable if they ever want to seriously challenge. The better teams don't tend to have such a wide gap in performance levels. They don't have huge lapses in concentration or application. They don't have teams scoring multiple unanswered goals repeatedly week after week. They don't have what seems to be significant drop offs in intensity from week to week or from quarter to quarter. Occasionally - maybe, but not consistently Unfortunately I would guess we are one of the worst teams in the competition in terms of win ratio in games where we are clear favorite - that suggests to me there is a big problem - That problem needs addressing urgently and if it means bringing in players who can apply themselves more consistently then I welcome them despite how old they are or how many games they may have played
  8. Last time I checked our list isn't performing that well - if the newbies are good enough, fit enough and hungrier for success then I'm all for replacing some of those who seem comfortable with going through the motions
  9. This rule seems very unnecessary to me - I can see games won and lost simply by someone standing the mark moving laterally by one step - maybe even just getting balanced 50m penalty for what has no real bearing on the ability of the player to effectively dispose of the ball just seems crazy
  10. Ok here we go champ Marks per game Daw 3.6 vs 3.5 Goals per game Daw 0.8 vs 1.0 One percenters per game Daw 3.2 vs 1.3 I wasn't necessarily saying he was an ideal replacement for Weid but he could fill a need now that Weid has found another way of going MIA. I know there is a lot of love for the Weid but if you look at facts he has yet to prove he is anything like a consistent or significant contributor to team success I am not being critical of Sam and hope like everyone he reaches his full "potential" which he hasn't gone close to - yet !
  11. According to Footywire they were both drafted in 2015 - Weid in National draft, Daw in Rookie draft
  12. If he is fit and ready to play to his best then low risk option IMO and good insurance given our current injuries We do have a history of recruiting players from other teams who are unable to get themselves on the park - is he good to go ? Surprised when I compared his career stats to the Weid Drafted in same year Played more games Averaged more kicks More tackles More hitouts More contested possessions Same disposal efficiency
  13. Agree with BBB and Weid both missing its going to be critical that LJ takes a big step up
  14. I really do feel sorry for Sam and hope he recovers quickly Having said that he is certainly extremely gifted at finding ways of not managing to fulfill his much talked about potential Time is running out imo
  15. Wow that was quick ! Better get him onto the LT injury list and promote somebody next to useless so we all feel better
  16. I genuinely hope none of the players or coaches read that Please stay focused and understand there is much to do to even get into the finals - whilst having lots of potential this group has achieved very little to date
  17. Thanks for taking the time to get along to training and report back Stinga If we are to improve we need an improvement in output from within and new blood My takeaways which are all positives - Kossie fit and building a tank - BBB doing body work with Stafford - IMO his weakness is body on body this is something they are working on it seems - TMac is fit and moving well hopefully a return to 2018 form - Rosman - he could be a real bonus if he can step up and contribute from the get go (we can only dream that he is anything like the Bont - Spargo and Hunt are players that need to keep improving so encouraging that they are looking good - Not too many in rehab/injured - Also pleased to hear they may have binned the failed experiment of Harmes on HBF
  18. Anyone know who was playing on BBB?
  19. Lets hope Lewis is correct and Kossie takes a big step forward in 2021 We need him and many others to improve significantly for us to seriously challenge The changes in coaching group gives me some hope that can happen
  20. Thanks to all for organizing the interview with JT - he is certainly a straightshooter - hopefully our forwards will capture a lot of that in 2021 :) I'm hoping that the 3 Victorian lads have slipped under the radar a bit given their lack of exposed form in 2020. Obviously this can go both ways but he seemed quietly confident. I realize that Rosman is a bit of a smoky but he seemed genuinely keen on his potential - lets hope he can develop quickly and take hold on one wing as his own
  21. Interesting story - I recently watched an interview with the great Brett Lovett. He told a story about him being invited to train in pre season with Melbourne after Allan Jeans and Des Meagher had said he had no future at Hawthorn (because he couldn't run apparently - thank god they got that so so wrong) Anyway the interesting part was that he mentioned there were something like 80 guys running around - who were gradually cut down to a lucky few - he being one of them invited to stick around. Sounded like if you wanted to walk in off the street and have a kick there was no great drama - how things have changed
  22. I know BBB wants to keep 50 on his back but I like the idea of him changing to 19 - the Dees have had a few decent forwards in that number over the years (Darren Bennett / Ray Biffin)
  23. Thanks 58er and I hope you are right and both go on to be great players and enjoy the ultimate success in red & blue I have read all the bios and I have watched a couple of full games Certainly not writing any of them off - I guess I have a bit more faith in Kossie , Spargo and even Bedford and struggled a bit with another two smalls with our first two picks JT does have some form so deserves my trust
  24. Not saying I'm an expert either but Laurie is not quick, lacks size and looks like a poor mans Charlie Spargo to me - please explain what he brings that Charlie doesn't Bowey looks like he has decent skills but is seriously undersized and just don't see him physically being up to AFL Rosman can at least compete in the air, looks like he run at speed and can take a mark Time will tell and you may be right - personally I hope you are otherwise we have just thrown away our first two picks and next years 1st rounder
  25. Based on limited vision I think he is the most likely to make it out of all three recruits I have serious reservations about the other two - just too small We already have Pickett , Spargo , Bedford - not convinced we needed another two players of that size. Hope I'm wrong but really question the strategy of trading out of next years 1st round at this stage
