  1. Wow that's a shocking trade for your Uncle
  2. I think it may increase the value of smaller mobile strong marking forwards of which we have a few - perhaps this is the reason we are prepared to entertain JH leaving for fair compensation Although not a massive fan of May one thing he does have is leg speed for his size which is a positive - not sure if his ability to read the play and reaction time is as good but assume our FD know best
  3. I think some of the posters with all that confidence might be on the Weed literally
  4. My concern is that the way things look like panning out we would have a suplus of tall backs but a shortage of tall forwards We wouldn't need much to go wrong and we would be struggling for tall options in the forward half
  5. I don't really want to lose JH but it seems inevitable now Just wondering what are our forward options next year if Weed doesn't fire or come on like we all hope or worse still he and/or TMac get injured. We used to have Pedo as a back up but that option no longer exists Who's is the next option for tall forward - Joel Smith? - Sam Frost (can't see that working out well) - OMac (don't think he can play fwd personally) - Steven May? - Max (Is this one of the reasons we are chasing Preuss - Harrison Petty (tall enough reads play well - do our FD think he could be reinvented as a fwd like TMac?)
  6. I will just sit back and wait for you to tell us exactly what is happening and why - you do seem to know everything
  7. So May is more valuable than Hogan ? Personally I don't think so
  8. AFC might have been working on the premise that MFC finish in bottom 5 or 6 teams this year - they wouldn't have been the only ones On that basis they would receive last year (10) , this year (1 to say 6) how does that stack up with 5 on a points basis - I honestly don't know but I know which option I'd prefer
  9. How does that work - didn't we hand them our first round pick (10) plus our first round this year last time I checked that is two first rounds picks - what am I missing ??
  10. What ???? just anyone - you do know that most of them aren't much chop don't you
  11. Very glad you are not negotiating on our behalf - that would be ridiculous and totally inconsistent with recent precedents
  12. I would mark that down as a major fail if that's what we receive
  13. Now your talking - what a character
  14. Is that a contradiction or am I just fatigued with this whole thread ?
  15. http://websites.sportstg.com/team_info.cgi?action=PSTATS&pID=196455977&client=1-118-187079-477472-26138796 These are his 2018 stats at VFL level - reasonable number of hit outs but rarely gets a mention in the best players and imo doesn't take enough contested marks for someone his size If you look at his kicking efficiency I'd say that's one of the biggest reasons he didn't play in the 1's this year Big, big punt if you ask me offering 4 years
  16. We can all have opinions - watch this space if no trade happens and he does not sign an extension of contract. It will not be me starting the discussion but I am sure his level of commitment will be questioned - particularly if he plays a stinker or two and gets a bit grumpy - has happened before btw
  17. Tend to agree and I will trust the FD to get this right but I have an awful feeling about this one - I fear his lowlights reel would extend well beyond the 17 seconds mark Has anyone watched much of him in the twos for North this year who could offer an assessment of his ability?
  18. Not saying anything negative about Ben Long but that is a v v v big call - Whilst Jeff Garlett has had an underwhelming 2018 season he has an impressive record in the AFL having kicked over 300 goals
  19. Maybe not directly but if a trade doesn't happen and he is not committed then the point/discussion becomes extremely valid
  20. Personally if any of our players are not fully invested / committed to the MFC I'd prefer they played at Casey or went to the beach and let someone who is 100% committed run out onto the field particularly in a GF , Jesse Hogan included
  21. Peter Bell insists that he stays as it makes him feel less self conscious about his lack of inches
  22. If the only reason we are considering a trade for Hogan is to secure May I think there is a real limit to how long each side can wait it out for
  23. The longer it drags on the less face there is to save I suspect which is unfortunate Personally I was looking forward to him sticking around and hoping the FD would experiment with him at CHB assuming TMac and the Weed are up and about
  24. Are you suggesting Hogan can't make a decision as to whether he stays or accepts the offer from Fremantle ? Why would they go ahead and negotiate with Fremantle if they don't even know what his preference / willingness to leave is? That makes no sense to me - I think its far more likely that Fremantle and MFC are bickering on what picks they receive for Hogan /Neale etc. This is like most trade periods where there is so much talk and speculation with precious little happening until the 11th hour when everyone has to either [censored] or get off the pot
