		Demons Ponder New Strategy Boss

Didn't we have a 'mind coach'/psyche join mfc as part of/after the Shand review. Can't recall the guy's name. Maybe he issue is our FD and players have resisted change rather than the change agents: 'mind coach', Shand, Rendall

Tairon Ah-Mu - No access for Dees NGA Talent

We can draft him with a natural pick. We just need to select him before anyone else! If above is correct that he is ranked in the 40 to 80 range there should be no problem having a late 2nd/early 3rd round pick available. In that range it makes little difference to matching a bid as an NGA with points.

		Players Unwritten Code

The AFL already protects some players from missing finals eg: HWSNBN Mark 11, Cripps, Cotchin and back a little while Barry Hall. I'm sure there are plenty of others. We don't need any more distortion of the MRO/Tribunal 'magic herbs and spices' decisions.

		Selwyn Griffiths

I like the romance of Bruce but would rather it be 'best available' regardless of who that person played for. Reckon the new coach will choose someone he has a relationship.

Jones, Bassett and Radford are OOC in 2026. I suspect they are on fairly low $$$ given lack of recent or any AFL coaching expereince. Chaplin also OOC next year. That gives the new coach time to assess them and if need be line up replacements as it may be difficult prising them out of other clubs this year. With the soft cap increasing I'm guessing the club will have the $$$ to add a senior assistant. End 2026 is when we see big changes to the coaching panel!

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026

Does that mean the earlier comment that 'one problem is that Petracca is no longer a marking threat forward' is based on some games late in the season? Raynors average marks is fractionally lower than Petracca's this year and a fair amount lower across their careers.

		POSTGAME: Rd 24 vs Collingwood

Interesting the criticisms of May, Salem and Petracca scattered through this thread. I know the AF score isn't the be all, end all but the results are: 115 - Gawn, 106 - May, 104 - Petracca 103 - Naicos 101 - Oliver 100 - Salem Methinks too many posters let their emotions override their objectivity when assessing our players. I will be very surprised if Petracca isn't in the top 3 in the BnF and Salem in the 5 - 10 range. May hasn't played enough games to be highly ranked. Yet people want them shipped out!

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026

Has he ever been a marking forward? From memory most of his marks are fwd of centre where he finds space and plays a 'linking role'? He has never been the type of player that flies for a mark or over a pack. His overall marking is slightly down this year but there could be various reasons for that including a different role i50. fwiw at the time of his injury Lachie Neale said he doesn't go in for pack marks - best to leave those for the big fellas! Maybe Christian has taken Neale's advice.

		POSTGAME: Rd 24 vs Collingwood

I wouldn't be letting go of May. He may de done in the FB role but he can do the TMc role who set an example of coming back to form when everyone thought he was done. We need one or the other on the field to support the inexperienced players and add some rigour to the backline. Of course it will help them if the midfield gets back to 2021 level two way running and rolling back type defence patterns- different players now but a similar idea.

Melbourne Football Club - The CEO

I thought it was legit as it was after saying the club had made some hard decisions eg Goodwin and Williams. It may have been a slip of the tongue if Williams didn't know about it yet or not yet enamoured with the idea.

		Choco Williams axed

In an SEN interview Guerra said Williams is very highly regarded and will talk with him re another role within the club. Link to interview is in the new CEO thread.

Good news! Looks like Mark Williams might stay. Guerra will talk with him re another role in the club. Didn't indicate if in FD or elsewhere. 😁

I've added some emoji's to give the lighthearted edge intended. But I did physically wince - it is an instinctive reaction to ref of 2000 GF. It was like a dagger to my heart.

Melbourne Football Club - The CEO

Excellent 3AW interview. Mixed feelings at the end when asked his favourite M Lloyd moment. His response was the 2000 GF. I won't hold it against him but I literally winced. For me the thuggery of that game is up there with the HWSNBN Mark11 attack on Gus two years ago. So Ghosty @Ghostwriter he needs to quickly learn the pain of being a demon supporter so another lecture re 'Ess is dead' is in order!!🙃😉

		Mitch McGovern

It was reported that McG wasn't selected to play this week so he hasn't hit the target for a contract extension. The context of the report was that it was deliberate on Carlton's part. Now, Carlton hold all the cards as to whether they offer a contract or at what $. Unlikely, to be anything like the figure mentioned above.

		2025 MRO & Tribunal

Not sure about 'enticed'. I've never trusted Coll! And once Moore claimed 'concussion' in rnd 24 last year for a collision he contributed to and got Kozzie suspended for 3 weeks they, are capable of anything. Could they have not raised it with Adelaide and kept it in house? It depends on what the offended player wanted. If he wanted it taken further then Coll must honour that. If the player was circumspect about it Coll had a choice. We will never know. Once it was brought to Adelaide's attention (Rankine did not self report) they had no choice but to take it to AFL. The fallout from doing otherwise would be grim on a number of fronts.

		PREGAME: Rd 24 vs Collingwood

Goodwin is gone!!! So, can we please stop the cheap shots at each other and the 'dog whiistles' by those who criticise or defend CURRENT coaching decisions. No need to bring Goodwin into these discussions. It is very tedious!

No Gameday Thread? Has everyone given up 😳 Maybe it is because a prime time Friday game is so rare ... after she double checks today is Friday ... Come on DL'ers support the team one last time for the year!

		2025 MRO & Tribunal

Just read the AFL is still considering the penalty and Adelaide will have time to mount an appeal. I assume an appeal will be to the AFL Tribunal. If so, there is no hope of a reduced penalty if Gleeson is Chair when keeping any penalty will help Coll final/flag chances. I wouldn't be surprised if Adelaide were to test a penalty in a court of law. AFL would hate that. It could be why there is a delay in announcing a penalty.

		2025 MRO & Tribunal

Collingwood raised it with Adelaide the day after the game. Adelaide reported it to AFL Integrity unit. The cynic in me wonders whether a club with a history of anti-social behaviours acted in their own interests to reduce Adelaide's chances of a flag and of beating Coll again in the finals. I in no way condone Rankine's comments.
