  1. Understand your views. In my experience stuff doesn't get to this level of messiness if there is goodwill by both parties and both parties are invested in a solution. My underlying point still stands: it is time to stop the bickering and get a mediator. And I don't have confidence in those at the club to do this.
  2. Thank you. stand corrected.
  3. It seems to me people at the club are also feeding the media. eg That it was uncomfortable having Petracca at the club function last Sat night. Players are angry at Petracca and want him out ... Petracca asked to be traded at the exit interview. I assume the only the attendees were Petracca, Goodwin and maybe Richardson. That to me doesn't look like a club that wants to mend a relationship. Both parties are trying to discredit each other. Both parties are damaging the club. Its getting ugly and will become a very messy divorce. The sooner they both stop feeding the media the better. imv its time to bring in a neutral mediator and get the differences on the table and talk them out. I don't have confidence that anyone at the club knows how to do such mediating.
  4. I was referring to the the rules allowing a reduction in the sanction rather than would we be successful. Would we have a case on down grading from 'severe'? I wold say so: he bounced straight up and played on, no trainer even went to him. Very different than when someone is knocked out cold and has to helped from the ground. imv the latter is 'severe'. I reckon there is a Kozzie 'tax' in the MRO's 'severe' grading.
  5. I was going to give that a 💗until I saw the Hawks part ... sorry.
  6. As it would be an appeal for the MRO sanction (rather than a Tribunal sanction) there is a bit more room eg if the classification is reduced from 'severe impact' to something lower (high, medium or low) then the penalty would come down accordingly.
  7. Thanks for that info. I hope he was referring to the 24 to 28 yo which I agree is our weak spot. Unfortunately, I didn't hear the interview so I don't have the context of his comment. Unless there is something wrong with my arithmetic, replacing the older players departing with some in that key demographic group is making us younger which doesn't fit his comment ...
  8. What a guy! I choked up reading that. I still think of him as 'Our Jesse'.💞
  9. Hmmm, not convinced. Of the names mentioned only ANB has been best 22 this year. Losing those older players might make us younger but they haven't really helped our performance this year. If anything their presence has meant we lacked depth (younger) players elsewhere. Anyway, will nervously wait and see what happens.
  10. 100% agree. 😼 We lose older/experienced players like ANB, BB and probably Tommo this year so adding players in the critical 25-27 age group will make us younger!! It seems like he is targetting players around 30yo!!🤷‍♀️
  11. Not sure where to put this. Somewhere I read that Richardson said 'we need to get older not younger.' That doesn't compute: we have the 3rd oldest list and the 2nd most experienced list. And, we won the premiership with one of the youngest and least experienced lists. He (and TL) doesn't have a good track record of player trades since taking over as GM, FD 3 years ago so his comment makes me nervous. Very nervous! I hope Richardson doesn't turn us into a 'dad's army'!
  12. Jesse 😊 Reckon there is still some ❤️and 💙in his heart.
  13. It seems many want Petracca to make a statement to protect the club/its brand and for our recruiting. Considerations: The mfc brand has been trashed for a year with the some player indiscretions and other reports during the year on our supposedly 'poor culture'. Our slide down the ladder wouldn’t be helping our recruiting. With the exception of one reasonable year from Hunter we have not been able to recruit a single best 22 player for 3 years. Reasons why? Houston’s ‘change of mind’ has been blamed on Petracca. As others have said it is probably to ‘save face’ because we won’t pay Port’s asking price of two 1st round picks. I may be wrong but I haven't read that we were prepared to pay that price. A Petracca statement may appease mfc fans but I doubt it will get the muck raking media off mfc’s back nor convince a potential recruit to join mfc.
  14. Agreed, there is no chance Kozzie will get off. The best hope is to reduce the number of weeks by arguing he wasn't careless and it was reasonable action in the circumstances. Or argue the 'severe impact' down to 'high impact' especially as Moore played on and showed no signs on the field. Of course it depends on what the Coll doctor report says ... fwiw, Houston didn't even hit the Crows player in the head. It was the shoulder but the MRO and Tribunal deemed it to be high anyway because it was 'the top of the shoulder'. Go figure! They make up the rules to suit the outcome they want. The only leniency on tackles etc this year has been to Brownlow candidates or 'famous' players.
  15. Have you considered his social media work is actually good for his mental and emotional health? His career has been temporarily taken from him. He isn't allowed to exercise, except a slow jog. Do you expect him to just sit on a couch feeling sorry for himself - surely that would make any emotional and mental health issues worse. Sure he can read books, play games etc ... Any of us would go spare doing that all day, day in and day out let alone someone who has been very active. At least filming cooking segments which don't require any physical exertion and can be filmed in stages as and when he feels up to it give him a distraction from all his health issues and satisfaction to be achieving something. As other's have said, show some empathy and compassion.
  16. Yes, a nice sentiment but as you suggest hardly an 'award' or a 'prize'; more of a token so not sure it will be looked upon as something special like other AFL medals. Given the type of player Barassi was it is a shame it couldn't be for the 'toughest' GF player, then anyone (not just a midfielder as is usually the case for the NSM) can win it and to be the 'toughest' is something any player would be rightly proud of. But no idea how 'toughness' could be assessed. It would then be a medal that honours his spiriit and how he played the game as well as honouring his name.
  17. Yeah, just name the actual premiership player medals after the great RDB! As long as the AFL doesn't bring in those grotesque Yankee rings for premiership players that were proposed a few months ago ... at Collingwood's behest🤮
  18. It seems the proposal is to award an RDB medal to the Premiership captain. I did wonder why the Premiership Cup isn't in his name but apparently he was against it. really-fitting-afl-to-honour-ron-barassi-on-grand-final-day-with-magnificent-gesture Not sure why they didn't name the official premiership medal that every player gets the RDB medal ... It seems a bit weird that a medal can be awarded that wasn't specifically 'earnt', in the sense of being a BOG or some other achievement. But then we already have the NSM. Having two demon champions honoured on each and every GF day is pretty special. It was quite an honour to meet him at the 50 year anniversary player celebration 10 years ago. Hope the RDB medal has Red and Blue ribbons rather than the team colours of the winning captain! 😁
  19. Just summarising the state of the nation in a few years.. Adam can you please ask @Demonlandto give you special rights to change your name. I get a promotion was in order but God. Crikey!!!
  20. Hi Hellfire, that is beautifully and sensitively written. You have a real understanding of the impact of and healing from traumatic experiences. It seems you or someone close to you has gone thru trauma and the healing. If so I wish you/them good health and well being. If not I wish you/them good health and well being, anyway😊. You seem a very good caring human.
  21. @Demonland Thanks for changing the title.
  22. Until I hear from the Club/ Christian that he isn't staying I'm prepared to give both the benefit of the doubt. I haven't seen much love toward him in this thread so it would be good if folks expressed that from time to time. Totally agree that fans vent their frustrations. The venting can be done with respect and compassion rather than vitriol and imputing all sorts of motives, jumping at shadows without any facts etc. This isn't bigfooy!
  23. Just shows how much the players/club rely on Trac's energy off field as well as on field. I hope those on DL who were quick to jump into 'lynch mob' mode take a moment to reflect on how they have maligned a champion of our beloved club. All based on very little and because they weren't prepared to give him or the club any benefit of the doubt and wait a few days. The lack of respect to Trac as a human being (and a very good one at that) and lack of compassion for a severely injured warrior, who may have understandably had moments of doubt, has astounded and saddened me. I truly hope we don't see that again on DL.
  24. During 2027: Gawn 36yo Viney 33yo and 1 yr left on contract Petracca 31yo and 2 yrs left on contract Oliver 30yo with 3 yrs left on contract Langdon 31yo with 1 yr left on contract On face value that is fine - many players go on until their mid 30's. However, they are concentrated in the critical part of the ground - the midfield. The question is can we attract B+/A level mid fielders in their mid to late 20's with that log jam in front of them. Probably not. So we will be drafting them or developing existing players. Similar question: How long will those younger players stay if they can't be best 22 from the get go. Petracca can go forward but a lot of his damage is bursting from a stoppage especially CB. Opinions vary on this one but imv neither Oliver nor Viney can play positions other than inside attacking/defending midfielders. Another question is can we really see/expect our captain/vice captain to play out the last year or two at Casey... Also, in 2027 Petty, Pickett and Rivers become free agents. All are from interstate. They may all stay or may not. We may end up with a lop sided list/age profile in or around 20227/28. Not pouring cold water on the contract renewals which are great, just answering the question on the 'risks'. In summary, the risk is having them concentrated in one part, the most critical part and impact on our ability to attract/keep their replacements.
  25. 100%. I would add fans to the list.
