  1. Not much to do on this horrid Melbourne winter day. So put this together for discussion. State of Play Top 4 looks all but set with only Brisbane looking a little vulnerable: Of the remaining 24 games for the Top 4 only one is for 8-pt Of the remaining 24 games for the Top 4 only 4 are vs 5th to 8th teams Carlton and Geelong play 3 of the bottom 4 teams Carlton do not play a Top 8 team Geelong play one Top 8 team Their fixtures and % make them difficult to oust. Better news for Demons is that of the teams outside Top 4 we have a relatively easy draw, well ‘on paper’ Conclusions: Everything needs to go our way to make Top 4 We will make the 8. Hopefully 5th or 6th to get that first Home final. Spots 4-8 will be a bun fight between those currently 4 to 13 14 wins should be enough for Top 8 Given the fixture, finalists should be known after rnd 20 I don't give GCS, Coll or Hawks much chance of making the 8. I don't like Ports/WBD chances of making the 8, given their fixture.
  2. Well ... I haven't cancelled my cbd hotel reservation for the GF weekend. 😊 A reservation made in January. But the kids might tire by then. Even if we don't make the finals which I reckon we will, I'm so enjoying 'The Baby Demons', aka 'The Mouse Pack', that I won't be disappointed in this season. Will ride this wave as long as it lasts.
  3. I'm not the only one to gloat 😉 And for a bit more gloating, I reckon I was first post to be optimistic of a win and posted very sound reasoning. Anyway, there was so much doom and gloom on here when Max went down some reality check had to be posted. Edit: See posts above this one for a few more Nostradamus posters 🙃
  4. @leave it to deever Humble pie served but being the entitled supporters they are no acceptances. Suspect they will be chocking on their corn flakes this morning when they realise their top 4 chances are all but over and may not even make the 8. And what a delight that would be. Or equally delightful they make the 8 and lose the EF. (Hope the footy karma gods don't get me for that 😠 Oops double posted quote below but can't seem to delete it. Oh well ...
  5. It seems they have lost their Edge! 🙄🤣
  6. Thanks! I completely missed the clues/answer But I take some solace in that Mr D did also.🙃
  7. @Little Goffy and @Timothy Reddan-A'Blew Is the answer to Rolling attack of the French! in the banter of the last few posts. If so, it went over my head! If not, @Little Goffy it seems you have stumped the Master himself @Demonstone. Well done!
  8. Forgot to thank @Little Goffy for his fine list of brain twisters! Wish I had more time to solve a few others.
  9. Thanks for all the work you put in Mr D. I solved Little Goffy's 'fish out of water' last night but he has yet to give me public credit ... 🙄🙃 But his PM credit was quite impressive.
  10. Are you saying Mr D and I think in 'strange loops' 😁😉
  11. I'm not sure that @WalkingCivilWar wanting the fan to 'choke' is so kind hearted ... 😊
  12. Clearly I'm late to the party! But you did release it at around mid-day when I was lunching at a favourite eatery (True South) in Black Rock. No, I haven't been eating and drinking all day, just busy. Anyway, at a glance I can't see any obvious answers to your clues. But reckon I solved one from the list Little Goffy put up.
  13. I must be too soft - I would have given it to him the first time ... ... on second thoughts, I wouldn't give it to an Ess or Coll supporting.
  14. Great post. Kozzie rightly is so proud. This video reminds me of the trip Jimmy took to Yuendumu with Jurrah. As an aside, it is great to see Clarry so happy 😁; I chuckled at the 12 pieces of damper he scoffed down Goodwin had a bit of a laugh about it ... will probably make him do 100 x 100 sprints ... to work it all off. 😊
  15. New Laws: https://www.accc.gov.au/business/selling-products-and-services/payment-methods Quite right it adds up!! I reckon it is easily costing $5-$20 a week !! Many people aren't even aware it is being added to the cost. My friendly Mazda dealer said a fee is charged only when a Debit card is swiped but no charge if it is inserted into the machine, using the PIN. Tested it several times this week and he is correct. Not sure if it is the same with a Credit card. Will give an update tomorrow after trying it,
  16. We will need to share Max's workload. In a recent game Petty took the kick in after a point. iirc that was when JvR rucked and Max rested. So, it could be something like: Fullerton, if he plays, rucks CB, then goes into defence to cover the Max role there. Then takes the d50 ruck work, while Petty takes the kick-ins and JvR stays fwd. When Fullerton is off the ground, TMc takes the ruck role in d50, JvR does the CB and f50 ruckwork. This can be shared with Turner if needed. This might also help counter the way Ess are playing. Vs Pies they took a trillion uncontested marks and used short, low kicks from their d50 to their f50. Without Max lurking down back, that game style may not work so well for them, especially if we limit Merrett's impact between the arcs. It will be a fascinating game !!! Quietly optimistic we will win!!
  17. Thanks Saty. Good to see you posting occasionally.
  18. I'm quietly optimistic that if selected Fullerton will put in a very good show. I suspect he has been given the same message the club gave Pederson in 2017, something like "stay fit as he needs to be ready when the team needs him". In his WCE post game press conf Goodwin mentioned the coaches did a great job of giving the young players a simple message on their role in our game style. Reasonable to think the same will be done for Fullerton. We don't need anything fancy. He just needs to follow instructions and play his role.
  19. Thanks. Didn't see that anywhere. Do the Eagles have anyone worth that much ... ? Still Duggan would be a good get as an UFA?
  20. Liam Duggan is co-captain with Allen. He is a Victorian so more likely than Allen who hails from WA. WCE website on Duggan: The highly respected clubman was elevated to co-captaincy alongside Oscar Allen in a changing of the guard at the end of 2023, following several impressive seasons as a tough and reliable on-field contributor. A beacon of consistent effort, Duggan was deployed through the midfield and in his more traditional defensive role depending on need as injuries hit hard, and was rewarded with his first podium placing (third) in the John Worsfold Medal while also receiving Life Membership after notching 150 games in blue and gold. In three of the past four years, Duggan has finished top-five in the Club Champion count and the 27-year-old is charged with helping to lead the young Eagles squad back towards more familiar territory at the higher end of the ladder. At a glance: Junior club: Bacchus Marsh (VIC). Debut: Round 2, 2015. Recruited from: Western Jets (VIC), Brownlow votes: 2. A good candidate for the Brayshaw role, perhaps and cover for other star midfielders. The 'bold' part could be a description of what Gus meant and means to us and how he played. I might add he is OOC this year and is an Unrestricted FA ie can go wherever he likes and WCE can;t match. No trade required. Would be a great get.
  21. My comment was in the context of the post below referencing Taylor needing to be better at drafting quality talls. I was highlighting quality talls currently on our list and playing games. It was not intended as a retro or future look at all his drafting of talls. My comment was intended as a compliment to Taylor's drafting.
  22. Thanks. That is quite a list. I mentioned only the 'quality' talls on our list that have played a game that the post I quoted seemed to miss. It was a compliment to Taylor.
