  1. Probably true. But seems like this available technology has pushed ā€œ fameā€ or getting likes on Facebook or twitter ahead of any kind of moral code.
  2. So... it really was a pipe dream? My feeling is both Pert and Bartlett ( who appointed him) have a lot on the line here.
  3. I like that idea. Offer a paid contribution to the club ( as it is now) or just tick the box to be a member. Maybe offer some benefits with MCC/MFC membership to increase their involvement and willingness to pay next time. Try to draw them in. Any loss, as you point out, will be offset by all the other benefits of membership growth.
  4. Joint member fr 20 plus years also. I’m happy to ā€œ donateā€ my membership fees and I also donate at other times as well. I pay WAY more than even a mid tier membership to the club. But it seems many dont share the sentiment or maybe just don’t care enough about football in general to do so. They need to come up with something that the membership gets them to give it a practical purpose. Perhaps in the possible future of a social club at Yarra park it gets them membership? Anything really.
  5. Well there’s little danger of us being Collingwood, Richmond or hawthorn atm. But, unlike Pert, I’d love us to be like any of them lol. They all have recently won flags and have massive, and growing supporter bases.... and kick [censored] facilities. One can hope
  6. Omg. We don’t soccer to challenge AFL as the big threat. We will kill the game all by ourselves.
  7. Anyone know where training might be/ times next monday? coming from interstate and a super rare chance to get there.
  8. He’s better than that imo. We just have freakish ability in Oliver, viney and Brayshaw at the coal face. Given an ongoing role at stoppages I think Tyson will be a very good player ar North.... but they won’t be top 4.
  9. Funny because as a junior I remember him saying he loved the clutch moments. Not so at this level yet. I do I think he’s developing into real quality and had a good year, but he just can’t get the space he used to get underage and doesn’t have the extreme pace of a martin or a degoey needed to get it. Nor will ever. I also think that it was really drilled into him to lose the big ego he carried into the AFL...earn his place.. team first etc. so I have a sense that finding his strut again on the big stage is probably important to a player like him. My hope is with the younger players coming in underneath him he’ll grow into leadership and refind it. May be the difference between being a really good player and potentially great one.
  10. A good result, but without a home base this isnt going to last. Has to be top priority now or we're going to be left behind...again.
  11. Or ...we where just bent over like the MFC often is. We have GOT to stop frikn playing in Darwin. Utter stupidity when we r a chance to be top 4. I can only imagine we’ve been forced.
  12. Easy to forget, in the fishbowl of AFL and chasing hard that ever elusive flag, just how human the players are. How much they hurt when things don’t go well and the personal difficulties some go through under the microscopic lense of the afl media. Thanks col for all the memories ... loving thoughts to your family
  13. Yep. They increased it by two, but the 4th year is contingent on games played in the other 3. Although, as someone pointed out , if they cant get him up in year 2 he’ll just be retired most likely anyway... so risk isn’t as big as it sounds. Still reckon he’ll ā€œmiraculouslyā€ be there round 1 but we’ll see. Im concerned about how much power the players have now in general at trade time tbh. Someone needs to be looking after the overall health of the clubs and the equality of the comp. players as individuals or player managers have no such care.
  14. Its one of the intrigues of 2019 for us...especially how he was playing for us at the end of the year. For mine, I play him over Omac. But theres pros and cons in that and I think its going to work itself out over the pre season.
  15. People were crapping themselves about Melksham...and still going on about Lever. No doubt we'll be hearing about Hogan and May for the next 2 years also. Meantime the dees are going to give the 2019 flag a real shot. For mine our football club is in very good hands.
  16. Scully understands lying and subterfuge to get where he wants (or get paid the most) better than most. It would b of zero surprise to me to see him play 16 plus games next year. This deal should 100% be investigated by the AFL. Don’t accept anything said about his ankle on face value..Scummy is as crooked as they come.
  17. Herald sun P-man 1h agoOctober 16, 2018HIGHLIGHT Jesse Hogan update Alistair Paton Jay Clark reports Jesse Hogan’s management has refuted a report that the forward asked for an $8 million, eight-year deal to join Fremantle.
  18. Jesse hogans management reporting that they never asked for an 8 year deal?? what the actual [censored] is going on. My first thought. Perhaps that invention puts the heat on jesses manager and takes it off Jesse's so called character issues. So that if they dont get Jesse this year they can minimise the damage they may have caused him if they go again next year? Perhaps Freo were looking for a an explanation to give to fans. Perhaps someone is just spilling bullship stories. Jesse's manager coming out and denying it outs the heat back on them.
  19. Completely agree. Really a wierd article . This little excerpt says it all "Hogan stands to make approximately $900,000 next year at the Demons so a jump into seven figures is not overly significant, but the Dockers began to smell a rat when Melbourne then came and asked for two first round selections as well." I mean what did they expect? Jesse has been greedy in going for that length of contract...but Freo could easily say to his manager "nope its strictly 4" without getting into ANY haggling with the MFC itself.
  20. I think you may well be right..but Im not sure that "decision" is or was entirely in the clubs hands chook. Hogan has had a big say in this.
  21. Would love to see them get bitten by this. Although in truth that may already have happened. I cant see their players would be loving what the club is doing at the moment...really has an amateur hour look to it. Doesnt bode well for club morale. IF ( and its a big if) Hogan and Lobb do get there...its not a great way to start is it. Welcome to the club boys.
  22. someone suggested earlier that Hogan had been told he'd be training with the backs for 2019 and as such he wanted to look at other options. But Im surprised if the "go home" factor is totally absent and that he would be remotely open to going to the suns. Hard to believe that report.
  23. lol... its a strange one isnt it. Every 5 pages or so the same comment would come up on this thread as well. its the lie that never dies!
