  1. True. Ive been to a few in the past as well. The issues in the media cannot be ignored as they relate to players Trac and Clarry who are so important to our club and who are contracted for a long time. The president as an ex player has an excellent opportunity to make a statement that puts the speculation to bed.
  2. i dont really expect the CEO to respond to Dland. We would not be clueless if the CEO got on the front foot and responded to the media omments. I would prefer that he got on the front foot and initiated the comments. Control the narrative as they say. I do await any conmments coming out of the BnF tonight(not AGM as previously stated). If the CEO does not address the issues of player circumstances and the club culture, responding to media reports I will be disappointed. It doesnt take much and with all players in attendance (not Trac)would be the ideal forum to get back on track and look forward. I cant get there but hope it will be a great night of celebration.
  3. iIf Pert has been shopping Clayton around he should be sacked. if he is doing it at the direction of the board they should be sacked. What will happen at the AGM tomorrow
  4. I understand your concern but as I stated on another thread I couldnt be bothered monitoring all of the media statements. That should be the job of the Club and the CEO. Again as I stated they should be on the front foot and control the narrative. They can and should be initiating not responding. Get on to them you can confirm my previous advice if you like, they obviously dont read my posts.
  5. iI cant keep up with this thread and randomly read the quoted mainstream media so apologies if I missed anything BUt Where are Green (our president), Pert (our CEO) and Goodwin (our coasch. Get a statement out All MFC players are valued. We have a list that we believe is competitive. WE have long term contracts with Clarry Trac and others and yes they are attractive to other clubs (as are all our listed players) but they would have to offer millions and significant trades for us to lose them. Every club ourselves included are restricted by salary cap rules, our players are aware of these difficulties but enjoy playing together and know that the club administration and more importantly our supporters appreciate them and want even greater success Max and Jack are our current leaders and Trac and Clarry are our future leaders. WE have many in our playing group Kozzie JVR, Fritta, Windsor, (Hell name the whole squad) who know that playing together and with the right amount of luck will achieve the ultimate success that they and we all want. WE are a strong club, only a strong club could let Jesse Hogan leave for extremely sensitive personal reasons, would let Jackson leave for similar personal reasons, can let NIbbler go for his personal circumstances.. We valued them as part of our club and value them as opponents but we all agreed that they would grow outside our club. We are always talking with our players and encourage them to know their value and more importantly their worth. They are and we encourage them to be competitive and we can only see success with this attitude. Speculation will always occur but we will not be distracted by rumour and conjecture. We understand that social media and alternative promotion can be misinterpreted and mislead and encourage our players to participate in all activities with caution and an awareness of their profile individually and jointly. We are satisfied that our open and transparent processes will allow us to improve and succeed. The club will respond formally when required and we encourage everyone, including our members and supporters to only respond to club issued statements. This sort of statement would be best delivered to the press ata joint conference with Jack, Max, TRac and Clarry. At training and allow all players to wander past and give supportative statements and gestures to that effect. Get on the front foot and get rid of this carp.
  6. I thought Grundy was brought in to give Max a chop out. Max is unique and plays his own style game which the rest of the team benefit from. He leads from the front and players respond. If we had used Grundy to give Max a break we may have nor only freshened Max up and perhaps extended his playing life but might also have developed some different options for our players who would have had to adapt to the different style that Grundy bought. This different style would have also made it more difficult to analyse for opposition coaches. WE just failed to use the options that Grundy provided and it was a good outcome that he left. I have said many times that Goodwin needs to use the total squad, rather than focus on our best 22 favourites, use the depth and build options.
  7. perhaps we could offer a role for the media geniuses that have so much knowledge of the club, Norris, Lloyd, Cornes, etc. These journos are able to tell what is wrong with the dees in forensic detail and would then make us an unbelievable powerhouse for ever.
  8. i find it amusing that the annual cost of my membership is taken from my credit account on a monthly rate which is one tenth of the annual rate. Membership have told me that no payments will be taken in September and October. I had for years paid directly to the club then changed this to a monthly debit from my general account. This account was hacked and security methods put in place meant the card could not be used for remote payments. I have since opened a separate account with less security and provide this detail for the club. I would prefer and did prefer to make 12 payments ie one each month to match my fixed income. but the amount is so insignificant i am able to manage. probably would have paid the amount for 12 months to make a donation for the other 2. my previous practice apparently meant i moved to credit on my membership and extra intervention was required to move to a donation. Every year there was a phone call with an adjustment discussion. I now have less contact with membership people but have always found them to be friendly and helpful.
  9. Theres so much thats fantastic about this, and most of it has been said. i appreciated the difficulties in completing feasibility and would hope that appropriate submissions to reach that conclusion will allow the business plan phase to be easily and quickly proceeded with to achieve the completion of our much needed facility. I also hope that every resource of the club membership is now asked by the board to contribute and does so. I would anticipate that much of this contribution will be outside the considerations of the feasibility study. The board do need to act quickly on their project as delay will merely increase costs and promote redundancy.
  10. Well they dont appear to have burnt any on Fishermans Bend options. Nor have they responded to any of my questions raised from the last AGM. I have deliberately stepped back as I advised the Board so there would be no corruption of their negotiations. I also hoped that Roffey might use her experience and networks to make some positive action. I still believe a carefully proposed community, retail, entertainment and business facility with appropriate training areas could be attractive to the stalled FB development.
  11. I would hope we get a carefully curated overview, Lack of that is why we are where we are.
  12. This seems a reasonable path by the Board. Brad has stated his interim understanding I do not know his administrative or governance experience but certainly if it is not extensive and exhaustive then having advice from an external (to the Board) analyst, with apparent high performance organisation experience can only help. It is essential that the process be transparent and that any considerations are announced and not leaked. If the Board has not learnt from the existing situation that it is necessary to make a public statement sooner rather than being dragged in to make responses, then we will again be at the forefrnt of media speculation.
  13. Too soon Thommo comes back. Demon rallies. 5 all in the 4th . Demons had his chances but needs to play at his best . Stay focused.
  14. It seems to me to be playing along well. Remember when we werent being spoken of at all because we were insignificant and didnt matter. Brand Petracca would be happy as well as he is getting greater exposure. It just seems Trac has had an extremely concerning injury, with excess time isolated and to reflect. He is normally so invested in training and high performance physical management that his current situation has thrown him off kilter. He may even be reflecting on the serious nature of the injury and pondering how this will affect his future performance. No doubt he will discuss this with those closest to him and will receive a wide range of advice. His emotions and reactions shouldnt be discouraged and should be adressed positively. I feel the club may be doing this. Its (like Clarrie) a long term game. He is along term contracted player needed to help the club and teamates achieve the best so keep going. There is the potential for his condition performance to drop off because of the injury, it is the job of the club , the coach and those around him to manage this. Again I would think the club would be doing this. So expect more of the histrionics and the hyperbole and even fairy tales. The club does need to respond to each iteration with a clear consistent messagfe that recognises all the above but emphasisies we are in this for the long haul. Nothing to worry about.
  15. Just watching the DEmon demolish Thommo in the first. Great defence good attack but most importantly variation. Thommo not playing his usual standard
  16. dont be too concerned its probably just another Tom Morris fairy tale.
  17. He did not elect to bump. Had he done so he would have put his arm against his body and used himself as a battering ram. HE could have raised his elbow to attain balance and soccer the ball. In fact this open stance also provided a crumple zone to mitigate the damage that a compressed body may have caused. Does need evidence of concussion. Moore going down at last minute was a definite factor and should be considered as contributing to contact. Moores action was dangerous he showed no duty of care. THis was a footy act
  18. while i agree with this sentiment to also deny collingwood finals Im also inclined to select a casey team with all youngsters, Hunter his 200, maybe even BBB. Jeffo, K brown Woee, Kentfiled etc let them all get to hear a 90,00 crowd of Pie supporters while we all go to the snow and let the pies pay the ground fee. We all donate our ticket price direct to MFC. Pies win who cares, They still dont make the 8 and if they do will get knocked out early unless they pay the umps a motza. WE know that pies will be porytrayed as valiant whatever happens and if they lose will naturally say its because it was a dead rubber. If they come out seriously to win they will take out Max and probably several others Jack, Lever they wont care.
  19. Our best two natural forwards Van Rooyn and KOssie are both spending time on the ball diluting their impact in the forward contest and pressure. Petty a natural defender is struggling to learn forward craft. Our forwards dont lead as our mids have for years just bombed it in to a contest. They dont look for the lead and rarely honour it when its made. Maybe we need a forward coach and not a ruck man. Stafford may be a great bloke and well liked but he really hasnt improved our attack.
  20. Roffey Pert and Goody need to call a presser with Max Jack Trac and Clarry. PRG: We just want to settle a few issues for our members and supporters. Max and Jack are our current leaders with solid contracts, and have played their hearts out this season. Trac and Clarry are contracted for 8 years and are seen as the next leaders of this club, they have had magnificent seasons despite significant injuries. All of them are frustrated that we have lost 4 games by less than a kick. Despite being very competitive we are not in the finals. we know we can improve and are determined to do that. We have a great list of players who will all improve working with these blokes who are recognised within the club and indeed in the league. Only a strong club can release Hogan, Jackson Grundy who were great players and are great opponents. The club considered their personal circumstances were significant and treated them with respect during their time with us and in letting them go. We have made a similar decision with Nibbler, we will always respect and regard these players as wonderful Melbourne football club representatives and wish them all the best. But make no mistake these blokes here are the heart and soul of this club. WE will progress with them. They will work with us and with the whole team to continue to work for the highest standards and to be the best. We owe our members and supporters nothing less. Yeah we are dissatisfied with the seasons results but we are also strong and will look at how we can improve next season. We will look at all aspects of our operations to provide the best environment for all of our club, players support staff, members and supporters. We want to all enjoy the best of our game and will do so together. We know that football can throw some, sometimes many, challenges but we intend to participate for more years than we have already existed. We will continue to work together and enjoy each others company, accomplishments and disappointments. We can handle all these circumstances together and want to be transparent in our actions. We can assure you that success is our driver and will always be our aim and our measure. We dont like losing and that is why we will always be looking to win with grace but lose with courage. Our efforts will be increased when we are not achieving what is needed and we will always want to bring as many people with us on this journey. You blokes want to say anything? M J T C say whatever they want in their own words to confirm the above. Any journalists questions are responded to consistent with the above and reference to all previous statements and actions of the club. If the RPG cant do this they need to sort it out and say what they need to to end this distraction
  21. Sorry to mislead you. I was not referring to past reporting I was referring to current issues. WE and all clubs have certainly endured many past media storms which quickly die. Its part of the industry. The pile on of Trac just seemed disproportionate to the current issues. We are not the only team victims of the variable umpiring interpretations. I am reconciled to that fact as it is a consequence of the entertainment nature of the game. We are all just victims here of our own desire, was a line from a song I believe from the Eagles . Dont apply it to me please. I am not a victim I am a demons supporter
  22. Dont disagree with you re the past reporting. and its certainly not we are the victim talk. I recognised we havent had the year we wanted, I referenced the appalling technique failure with an attempt to remedy it . While I mentioned the football acts that had a significant impact on our club I noted that we had coped with them. I did not refer to the fact that the tribunal decisions were not challenged I did not refer to the fact that the club did not highlight the consequences of these football acts. It is noticeable that head high and concussion incidents are now league wide issues. I am not claiming victim. I am claiming change must be made and I would hope that our club was a significant advocate for those considerations My perspective is wider than the issue of Trac continuing. My perspective is not a single player but the club reaction that is why I wanted Roffey or Pert to end the speculation which now appears to have been done The league does need to look at what is occurring at Collingwood and who knows whats happened at Essendon Tom can now focus on that and maybe he could also continue to examine why umpiring standards appear so variable. I notice the Collingwood coach commented that crowd volume may have affected the outcome of his teams latest loss. Really??????
  23. thank Goodness
  24. it would be amazing in any organisation of the size of a football club if there werent divergent opinions and if high performance athletes did not have tightly tuned emotional responses. Sure we havent had the year we wanted, weve lost a couple of matches that we could have won with some different umpiring decisions. Oh and we lost one of our significant players before the season due to a football act of an opposition team. Oh and then when we were still in the leading group of teams we lost one of our best players through another football act. with the latter in the team we may have maintained our position in the top echelon of the competition. Yeah theres some things wrong with the club , there always is but it certainly aint the end of the world and it aint any reason to gut and destroy whats not wrong. Identify it and address it. Its all delightful material for Morris and Cornes et al who arent game to publicise the major issues at Collingwood and Essendon. But it is time for Roffey and Pert to end the speculation. Get Trac in and laugh and smile at the speculation, point ou that our season is now ended and but we will continue to be an entertaining team to watch and support. WE are looking forward to a strong pre season and will be better next year. Behind the scenes we will engage with the umpiring fraternity to establish what is wrong with our tackling techniques and why we do not draw free kicks when we are tackled above the shoulders. What are we doing wrong?
