  1. No way I'm positive I'm negative. It was such a great night I'm sure I rebuffed any possible infection through the aura of joy that surrounded me. In truth has been enveloping me since we won, continued at the G replay and will continue until we are no longer premiers.
  2. Just got advised that may have been exposed at Crown Palladium. need to get tested and isolate until negative.
  3. There was a time when contracts were offered open ended. It was xpected you would have a job until you left, did something to get sacked or were let go with a payment to compensate for the termination. Wages were increased after analysis of success and ability to pay. There was a certainty and stability that existed. Then we had the birth of the fixed contract as employers wanted to be able to terminate without any reason and without consideration of compensations. Employees had no sense of certainty and no sense of loyalty. id be saying Simon the jobs yours as long as you want it, if we can't afford you you can leave with our best wishes and thanks, if it ain't working for us we will let you know, give plenty of notice and provide an appropriate termination payment. Part of contract can contain things like Super and long service payments that can give some stability and mitigate unexpected and unsustainable large payments. The team is the thing total payments must be shared.
  4. I've had to tell a lot of people the scarf hangs out the window until we are defeated. Is always been draped around the headrest on the seat. The flag will stay on the gate post forever now. It was a new innovation and surprisingly had a few neighbours who were unaware I was a demon supporter.. However it does reinforce my fanaticism with those who know me well. Its a hell but of a lot more pride now. Respect has been hard earned and it's a lot better than the sympathy that used to be invoked. I'm really looking forward to the continued expressions of confidence. Expecting to win and being competitive not just expected to lose. What do they say "Winners are grinners". I find I am smiling a lot more. Thanks Dees.
  5. The Interesting thing I saw with Nev was that he was way too good for the twos, Every game I saw (including some live) he just cruised around and yet imposed himself on the game.
  6. Well that's ok I guess there's a sound economic plan.
  7. It's why we should be investing in Fishermans Bend site.. A Community entertainment Centre with training facility and admin building attached. To provide our future base and income generation with capital growth.
  8. It's a chance for Demons to extend the delight. First televised game - grand final replay - Lets make it a blockbuster TV event First game at the MCG - unfurl the flag in front of fans - Lets make it a bloblockbuster attended game First Saturday game at the MCG - repeat the family day content and entertainment outside the ground if necessary - repeat the unfurling and parade the cup - premiership players and full squad involved after game. Lets show the AFL that we are passionate and proud supporters who can watch TV and can watch replays but like to attend matches. Only Covid has affected our attendance. We will gather from far and wide and provide an economic stimulus to the city when we attend games.
  9. Webber While a picture is worth a thousand words, the words convey the intent and meaning so much better. Love the work. Just hope I can afford aversion.certainly wont be able too buy he original ,and hope you are able to get a quality print that can meet the supply demand equation and provide great price value etc. can I recommend the painting with your description on the back and that price points be arranged with pre ordering of various size etc. . It is a great testament to your talent and passion, the original is priceless but copies should become almost mandatory for everyone who has been n the Demn journey. Congratulations.
  10. Thanks for that Fork. Hadn't seen before and still bought a tear. Really looking forward to Sunday
  11. What a great idea. Pity I was nonmember as a kid in the country, moved to Melbourne and went to matches, back to the country and held country member for five games, couldn't even attend them, and had mates with memberships so sat with theming the very rare occasion I could get there. Finally retired and started attending more games still with mates so joined last year in my own right to get a grand final ticket. So still missed out but no regrets. of course I credit my membership renewal with the players success. I can just picture them saying crickey if he's signed up we'd better deliver. Hope they can reward me again next year at the G.
  12. That's the one I'm more interested in. Hoping to see it live next year at the G
  13. With Melbourne now established as the Victorian premiership representative look to the AFL to ensure plenty of interstate rivallry. Brisbane, Sydney, GWS, Fremantle with outsiders Adelaide, West Coast and Gold Coast to finally drag itself up. We broke the Cats, disillusioned the dogs, North will take some time to get over watching Bennie kick goals for us. Hawks are in transition, St Kilda aren't really sure where they are, Essendon need a new pharmacist, Collingwood still have trouble being in Richmond and Richmond are having trouble being beaten. Supporters of Tigers and Pies don't know who to spit on. It should be any interesting ride for the next ten years. Someone's going to Tassie and it ain't the Demons. i would still like to see us reclaim the Port Melbourne area with a new stadium and training facility in Fishermans Bend. Just a stones throw from the Ron Barassi oval.
  14. Have to avoid being predictable. Opposition will structure for that. Use of full squad can mix up the skill sets on the field and throw up an unorthodox action. That said the coaches certainly got it right last season so I'll leave it to them again
  15. Yeah but a bit of simplistic view can often be better than a more complex one. The virus doesn't kill everyone only the most vulnerable. comorbitities seem to be no longer reported as everyone dies of Covid not with Covid. The concern with the new variant is we do not know it's spread and /or virulence, once more cases are analysed we might find it is one that we get on with. Influenza killed many but most people got a small symptom hit and while maybe spreading the flu soldiered on and didn't die.
  16. Sorry dumb was meant to read dumb for nails was meant to read finals. Need to proof read before hitting send
  17. Great thread with some very insightful comments read in restrospect with a premiership now on the shelf. i always felt the teams and players were skilled and physically all equivalent and so the minutiae and detail , especially the almost indefinable culture were where the difference lies between success and failure. i was also concerned that over the years I would see Melbourne all streaming forward only to have turnover which would always be successfully rebounded as we did not stay set up for the defensive response. The other detail and often a cause of the turnover was free kicks and quite often the free would create the defensive shortcoming. Players would protest, drop their shoulder or often just be completely befuddled as to what the free was and what would happen. Failure to return to defence, failure to man up all sprang from a dmb free kick. As we got through the last rounds and for nails it seemed we both had better free kick ratios but also didn't have the turnover free and reacted to own free kicks better. As an example why does BB seem to attract free kicks while TMac treated exactly the same way does not. Has there been any forensic examination of our season free kick impacts.
  18. Where's your store. Can I visit next weekend when down for the big show
  19. Thanks. I think I will return to this thread many times. it has and still brings the strangest feeling of joy that leaves me with a moist eye every time.. I'll be at work he G next weekend and would love to shout you a well earned premiership Furphy to thank you for your hard work
  20. It's still early day, it's been identified but not a lot known how a highly vaccinated population will resist or slow spread. Just caution keep away from anyone whose come from SA in the last week
  21. Acronyms got out of hand at some stage as beaurecrats tried to outdo themselves to make sure any program introduced had an acronym which formed an easily digestible word rather than just the simple letter array which is an acronym. This often meant the words in the program were arranged in orders which often altered the priority of the words IMHO the perfect acronym was TLA which was in fact a three letter acronym for Three Letter Acronym.
  22. Ewas interesting to see the muscle structure in his arm on one of the pics. For one so young it seemed pretty developed. Wonder if tennis, squash or weights?
  23. Hoping that the group of us that has been going to matches for the last 40 years can all get seated together. To celebrate from different seats would lessen the joy. I reckon you will hear our usual shouting even tho it's only a replay. i hope to hear the players commit to winning next year at the G in front of us loyal supporters.
  24. Yes coz we need these unsightly developments overshadowing our low rise parks and gardens, coz we have so little space anywhere else around Melbourne. Please make sure there is low rise and open space around the Fishermans Bend sight. We could be part is such a project and create a total sports, entertainment facility there
  25. Shepparton the closest to NE. Wangaratta or Wodonga could be included in the trip to Sydney? Meanwhile I hope to get to the G on the 5th with a big weekend with the mates who have been attending for 40 years. i did suggest the club try and establish some alliances with restaurants in the city to distribute the crowds around the city.
