  1. Totally agree and hope that the coaching staff are looking at both ends of the scale. I think the lists that are around show we have plenty of potential if we can support and develop it
  2. Deespower I probably agree with your comments but it certainly fills me with a great deal more confidence than I have had for a while
  3. I am probably in the biased basket But having followed the dees for over 50 years have had to endure many false dawns with an elite player who did not achieve the ultimate or even in some cases consistent individual or team results Have followed footy and seen many champions ( some of who were most unsavourry in their approach to other players) but who could produce when it mattered. I agree with all you have said and think this is the depth along with the gameplan etc that I am hoping to see continue this year, With the astute approach seen so far the top 5-6 could well emerge this season. I Hope! Go Dees!
  4. I often thought Darren Bennett should do this as he was more accurate from 50 than 10!!!
  5. Not sure where your going with this oli You asked the question and got the answer It seems most supporters are happy that MFC has acted appropriately and it would seem consistently.
  6. I would have thought that taking a holiday might be a good way to treat stress and as such could be recommended rehab for compensable illness The pm example is a little too obscure as no paid hrs as such and not sure of relevence of workers compensation position.
  7. An answer was given which I thought was sound there is a work related injury which can be treated in a number of ways including allowing to travel Deal with it as such time frames are related to treatment and rehabilitation outcomes.
  8. Unless thats what the coaching staff are wanting him to do???
  9. I reckon depth is where the success will come from No need to overplay your best 5 or 22 select the best team for the day, opposition and circumstances. Do we have players who play better at one venue?? or in wind?? teams used to be selected for wet soggy grounds. whilst that has improved we still see players who can perform on a given day. Some players feel more comfortable/ assured against a particular player or team that will be their day and they may be better than a more credentialled player. Depth allows you to rcover refresh or rest so list management(depth) can be a powerful attribute for our club.
  10. I think you got the title right rather than the best 22 on other thread. The depth of the squad will probably be tested during the season as injuries and form fluctuations hit but it is great to see the options and I am really waiting to see the variations against the variety of oppostion teams. I did ask earlier if Neeld had an easier task matching against the pies because of his personal knowledge. I guess we will see as he handles other team structures and styles. With that said he certainly does appear to have a better list and others have paid some credit to previous coaches and recruiters so maybe we can continue the development at a faster rate to exploit the riches we have.
  11. just had a quick look in the locker room 16,000 odd posts on JW nearly 6000 on morton 4000odd on moloney The boy is certainly generating interest (at the risk of regenerating those puns) Was interested that Neeld referred to the investment and nned to get a return hopefully hes looking longer term blue chip (BHP rather than high risk short term)
  12. Lots to like about what you say BJ Hope JW keeps his development on and off the field Neeld and Jack both seem pretty balanced I hope those footy skills he has displayed increase and I still continue to say he could be our big occassion player I hope so!
  13. I reckon its all relative Re star see Monyt Python
  14. Like you Steve I feel we can certainly take a lot out of the games and I think all on the post are agreeing. Its what we take and how we take it I have said on another post how you practice will be how you play so theres much needed also this is the opportunity to develop and work on individual and team issues The important thing is for us to own the game thats coaches players and supporters. We all see different things strengths and weaknesses and the more we communicate the better these things are highlighted. enjoy the ride we all know we have had worse times.
  15. Again rpfc 12 men for the mids give that much needed diversity hope the intensity for the positions make the selection even that much harder for the coaches. On an aside was the side for Pies easier for Neeld to select from his knowledge of their capacity and do we hwve same inside knowledge of other teams????
  16. I think you are spot on rpfc 11 players for the forward line selection certainly shows the development of our list The coaches have the opportunity of selecting the side 1 to best exploit the opposition, 2 that is on song that day 3 that best suits the development plan (individual and team for that day. I know/ hope theres more to it than this but boy it seems a great position to be in at the moment
  17. Thanks rpfc It still sounds ok to me Keepin a lid on with a recognition of potential
  18. Still cautious with Watts Think he has class all over him but from appearances and comments needs to display heart and attack BUT dont want to see an obviously skilled mobile attacking option reduced to a dour defensive unit ala Bruce and even Green and dont want to see all heart displayed with foolish abandon into a Jonathan Brown injury, (even Hird received cruel injuries as his attack overcame his reflexes???)My opinions only I recall Jeff White running through the centre and being ignored on many occasions so hope we dont miss opportunities due to adherence to game plan and recall comments about Geelongs kid that may have been dispelled with the grand final performance. I am happy with Watts development and look forwqard to the coaches plans for him plenty of talent to refine and as I have said before hope fervently he becomes the big game player we need
  19. May have to review the First half of the Draw poll given last nights result I liked Neeld Quotr we weree 13th last year and perhaps were all equal on the bottom or something like that. Is he indicating we can beat anyone ???? and be beaten by anyone???? I hope so GO DEES
  20. Hells GateAs we are unlikely to make the grand final would like to see rest the injured and continue to play a sqaud that is competitive against Hawks maybe give different body and or skill types a crack We definitely need to make a match out of it BUT Our match Practice what we want to do I think Neeld and the coaches are making great strides and have a realistic impression of waht they want. Im Also like big Kev..
  21. thanks for all the comments. Plenty to like. No coverage here and havent picked up the paper for its summary at work and wont see many of the sports reports. Mention already made that Collingwood had many out and its ONLY a practice match scenario. As you practice so will you play We seem to be still finding out more about some of the fringe players but all signs positive and love what appears to be the number of options opening up all over the ground Competition for spots in the side can only be good for squad development and we can then select the best side for the opposition Still want to see what Watts will develop into I recall the Decoy full forward tactic has worked in the past itss nice to have one!!! No further injuries was the best result GO DEES!!
  22. Sylvia is one of our many players who have shown they have performance to match their potential. Maybe we expected too much for them to perform consistently and now may be chance for Neeld to get the performance when he wants. I may be being a bit boring in saying that using the whole list may be betterthan relying on a consistent 22. If Sylvia is not suited for the opposition or the circumstance replace him with the better option for that week. Circulation through the 2's was always a way to punish but can also be a way to refresh and concentrate development so that performance on the big stage on the big occasion can be acheived.
  23. A mate of mine ( Fitzroy supporter) pointed out that one of the strenghts of our code was that we all had friends who supported other teams so there was always someone to go to each match with. Its harder to find an interstate supporter in melb .The mingling of supporters was always part of the atmosphere trading good natured abuse was always great . Hope we never get the tribal approach of English premier league where supporters are channelled to opposite ends of the ground. Its a feeling that you do get if you go to SA ground as a minority supporter My Mate now goes to less footy though he has been dragged into norts group by mutual friend as I have removed to the country.Lost one there.
  24. Great video DM hope the club has use of your services to cut those inspirational passages from games to inspire current players with what is possible. GO DEES
