  1. Like you Steve I feel we can certainly take a lot out of the games and I think all on the post are agreeing. Its what we take and how we take it I have said on another post how you practice will be how you play so theres much needed also this is the opportunity to develop and work on individual and team issues The important thing is for us to own the game thats coaches players and supporters. We all see different things strengths and weaknesses and the more we communicate the better these things are highlighted. enjoy the ride we all know we have had worse times.
  2. Again rpfc 12 men for the mids give that much needed diversity hope the intensity for the positions make the selection even that much harder for the coaches. On an aside was the side for Pies easier for Neeld to select from his knowledge of their capacity and do we hwve same inside knowledge of other teams????
  3. I think you are spot on rpfc 11 players for the forward line selection certainly shows the development of our list The coaches have the opportunity of selecting the side 1 to best exploit the opposition, 2 that is on song that day 3 that best suits the development plan (individual and team for that day. I know/ hope theres more to it than this but boy it seems a great position to be in at the moment
  4. Thanks rpfc It still sounds ok to me Keepin a lid on with a recognition of potential
  5. Still cautious with Watts Think he has class all over him but from appearances and comments needs to display heart and attack BUT dont want to see an obviously skilled mobile attacking option reduced to a dour defensive unit ala Bruce and even Green and dont want to see all heart displayed with foolish abandon into a Jonathan Brown injury, (even Hird received cruel injuries as his attack overcame his reflexes???)My opinions only I recall Jeff White running through the centre and being ignored on many occasions so hope we dont miss opportunities due to adherence to game plan and recall comments about Geelongs kid that may have been dispelled with the grand final performance. I am happy with Watts development and look forwqard to the coaches plans for him plenty of talent to refine and as I have said before hope fervently he becomes the big game player we need
  6. May have to review the First half of the Draw poll given last nights result I liked Neeld Quotr we weree 13th last year and perhaps were all equal on the bottom or something like that. Is he indicating we can beat anyone ???? and be beaten by anyone???? I hope so GO DEES
  7. Hells GateAs we are unlikely to make the grand final would like to see rest the injured and continue to play a sqaud that is competitive against Hawks maybe give different body and or skill types a crack We definitely need to make a match out of it BUT Our match Practice what we want to do I think Neeld and the coaches are making great strides and have a realistic impression of waht they want. Im Also like big Kev..
  8. thanks for all the comments. Plenty to like. No coverage here and havent picked up the paper for its summary at work and wont see many of the sports reports. Mention already made that Collingwood had many out and its ONLY a practice match scenario. As you practice so will you play We seem to be still finding out more about some of the fringe players but all signs positive and love what appears to be the number of options opening up all over the ground Competition for spots in the side can only be good for squad development and we can then select the best side for the opposition Still want to see what Watts will develop into I recall the Decoy full forward tactic has worked in the past itss nice to have one!!! No further injuries was the best result GO DEES!!
  9. Sylvia is one of our many players who have shown they have performance to match their potential. Maybe we expected too much for them to perform consistently and now may be chance for Neeld to get the performance when he wants. I may be being a bit boring in saying that using the whole list may be betterthan relying on a consistent 22. If Sylvia is not suited for the opposition or the circumstance replace him with the better option for that week. Circulation through the 2's was always a way to punish but can also be a way to refresh and concentrate development so that performance on the big stage on the big occasion can be acheived.
  10. A mate of mine ( Fitzroy supporter) pointed out that one of the strenghts of our code was that we all had friends who supported other teams so there was always someone to go to each match with. Its harder to find an interstate supporter in melb .The mingling of supporters was always part of the atmosphere trading good natured abuse was always great . Hope we never get the tribal approach of English premier league where supporters are channelled to opposite ends of the ground. Its a feeling that you do get if you go to SA ground as a minority supporter My Mate now goes to less footy though he has been dragged into norts group by mutual friend as I have removed to the country.Lost one there.
  11. Great video DM hope the club has use of your services to cut those inspirational passages from games to inspire current players with what is possible. GO DEES
  12. As we get limited cover unless its the usual big4 or major event the Nab cup is insignificant to most potential country members but I agree with the thrust of most that momentum and especially good result against pies would help. If matches are treated as practice matches then every comment about the game must be directed to that point. If scoreline negative there must be a positive press release that we were pleased that our defenders got the practice that we wanted. We must own the news as the players must own the footy. Every supporter and especially well informed demonlanders must have a quick retort to any opposition member and a water cooler comment that says we are using these practice matches to improve and develop our side and achieve the better results down the track GO DEES
  13. It seems we are identifying the attributes that each individual player lacks. If we can see this what are our coached doing to rectify these attributes. I say this only to confirm expressions that all players have the potential and if we can get them to deliver we will win games. Again it may be too much to have the potential expressed every day and judicious use of the whole list can select those best suited for an opponent or circumstance on their day to get maximum output and best results. Im still positive GO DEES!!!
  14. What a good thread Agree with OD Maldon boy and Gidon I think the total list is the saving point not the best 22 I am still waiting for the Jarman/Mcloud/ Brereton/Buddy/Judd gamebreaker to appear and am fervently hoping it is Watts or (and) Trengove. But with the development that seems to be apparent with Neeld Craig Viney and all the coaches from reports here a full ist with many options does seem to be emerging. Keep the opposition guessing with swing changes and all playing a game of attacking footy I have already said that we can win all matches Im not expecting that but if we can see improvement and keep our heads up we will win more than we lose. GO DEES
  15. Good thread interested in all comments tend to agree with DW Fe and OD.
  16. Wouldnt say step up. But does need to continue development. COULD be anything if the coaches can get his mind to match his skills. Love his speed and flexibility as a big bloke, has an almost languid movement and teammates need to use his position and movement to advantage can feed him and feed off him. I expect Watts to be a positive contributor with others around him benefitting from his presence as well as he will benefit from Clarke and other bigger bodies around him.
  17. It does all look a little familiar Good get demonator>
  18. This site is a bit addictive for an enthusiastic Demon supporter retired to the country. Yes there can be plenty of skiing and much involvement in the local community including our own Beechworth Bushies who carry the red and Blue and Milawa who carry the demon colours. We dont have the benefit of 5 year rebuilding up here and I think that MFC has often confused a 10 year business plan with a game plan. The window for player performance is very short and we should be aiming as Neeld apparently is for success quickly. I am pleased with the list development and hope that all players are used with maximum exploitation of their skill. I agree that Saints and Dogs should be sliding and hope we are ahead of Richmond Essendon etc We dont have a proven Judd star but Trengove and a team around to create space and movement will be interesting. With Clark adding muscle Watts getting stronger we could have a Brereton/ Brown figure in the forward line. Although I like Watts speed on the wing. We have plenty of options with Davey returning to the forward line for the small crumber and with Bate and even Dunn of the flanks we have plenty of options also for attack. I can even remember when Green was a Striker, every touch though not many seemed to result in a goal, I hope he can find that form again. The Defence as many of you guys have pointed out is solid with options for every forward line in the comp and if we can get the mix right on the day we are competitive in every match. Despite our miserable years we have been more competitive against the pies and have shown we can play great patches. A new coach to inspire the performance we need from every player can see us get a great start with some surprising (to others) wins. I just hope we can see every match that we are competitive and that players have given their all. With heads up we can win more than we lose.
  19. Up here in Beechworth and the rain continues to tumble down, with more scheduled for the weekend. We may get to see if Essendon and Saints handle the wet any better than we did Breaking news is that Fevola is coming to Myrtleford to play on April 28 Now that could be interesting????
  20. Thanks for report WJ. your contributions are one of the reasons for my now membership instead of mere observation. Hope to contribute as my boldness grows with the team It appears development has occurred and training drills and coaching methods have changed but it would also seem the conditions and NAB rules were not conducive to anything to gauge progress on. Like all posters on demonland I am looking for ward to the season I hope that with the strong multi faceted player list we have we can select the best team for the opposition and circumstances we are playing all year. In other words I think we can use the list each game and not have a set 22 best players. I think all players are best at some stage it is the coaches role to identify them. I am reminded of games when Northey or Daniher got playeys to play above themselves. It is difficult to maintain that standard and there should be no criticism in not playing if it is recognised that circumstances do not suit. All that said we are not likely to play in too many monsoons are we???
  21. First post after months of following a lot of the discussions as observer. I am not rooted to the past but am old enough to have my memories which is what inspired me to be a demon supporter. I am also progressive enough to hope that we can go on to even better success. We may as well look as professional as we need to be and if the blazer "for special events" with personal highlights added displays a professional approach great. Asnoted above is part of branding of club and can forge greater engagement and hopefully attraction for next generations.
