  1. The same way that Bailey was, I would hope the board do their due diligence when his contract is up.
  2. He was actually talking about his club and rumblings that they did the same thing.
  3. It's not about running a ticket, I've also been through that on a previous post. I think we have the wrong man for the job and I have given my reasons, a lot of others feel the same. We need to make a break and move forward. We only did half the job in sacking the football department, the job's not finished. As far as the whole tanking thing is concerned it is a non issue, yes we made some odd player moves and it felt like we weren't in it to win it but we also just weren't very good. We're still not very good. The club should have come out like McGuire did and said the issue was investigated by the AFL last year and found there is nothing to answer. Move on, not we welcome an enquiry by the AFL what rot.
  4. This is one of many points but Geelong were not sitting where we are now and Cook had a succesful record on and off field to back him up.
  5. I've posted them on other threads but as a quick overview I think he is a devisive figure with players, supporters and the media. I don't think he should have been re appointed after the trouble he caused the club in the late 90's both financially and through loss of draft picks. I don't think he has handled key sponsorship issues well both the getting of those sponsors and retaining them. I think energy watch was a debacle which could have been avoided, I have my own theory on this but I can't substantiate it so the mods would not like me to add it here. He has overseen a failed rebuild and as CEO must take responsibility. I think it is time for a change and now is the time to do it, we are getting kicked around so lets get on the front foot like we did with the football department make some changes that need to be made and give Neeld support to re build the club on field. I hope that spells out what my thoughts are.
  6. No, I've said before that I think you are right with this, it certainly didn't hurt us. But...I think the negatives far outweigh the positives where he is concerned. ...and before you raise the money issue I think it was Jimmy who was the catalyst for erasing the debt at the club, without him it would not have happened, the CEO rode on his coat tails. There are many unhappy contributors with the way the club have treated them since the debt demolition and again it will come back and bite us. The arrogance of this administration does not sit well with many people.
  7. Not entirely true RR, we can thank GWS for paying overs which in the AFL rules put Scully in the elite category with Ablett. A joke I know but that is what the compo was based on.
  8. Unfortunately I think you are on the money.
  9. Technically yes, so maybe I should say to my satisfaction and many others here they could have come out strongly on this. As has been said the issue has already been investigated why would you welcome opening it up again.
  10. At least McGuire has said something, pity we've heard nothing from our guys.... ''It's a bit staggering this has come on the back of Brock McLean, when we had an investigation and quotes [last year] from Dean Bailey. I don't know what they [the AFL] are hoping to achieve from this. ''It apparently didn't happen, they had their investigation; move on."
  11. Mark Neeld deserves a medal for courage under extreme adversity with all the rubbish he has had to put up with in his first year as coach. In the words of Bobby Davis "It's fair dinkum unbelievable." We should probably all be locked up.
  12. WYL, I understand your frustration with the management of the club and I share it. The story of 2011 has been shoved under the carpet by senior club officials as witnessed at the AGM where they wouldn't answer questions and I believe this hangs over our attempts to move on as a club. If action is not taken on the management of the club then all the debt demolition will have been wasted and we will be back where we started. The talk of giving time to people who have already had 5 years this time around is not on, we don't have the time. Give time to the football department, they deserve a clear run. However, the rubbish Paul Gardner is sprouting is not helping to clear things it is just the rambling of an egocentric fool who is too rapped up in his own importance and selfishness too consider the damage he may be doing. Because he is an ex club prez his view is being given far more weight than it deserves. The things he is attaching to tanking are what we see on this site after most games, it is the view of an uninformed fan not happy with how his club is playing, nothing more nothing less. I hope he is going on a one of his famous long walks this weekend and just keep walking.
  13. Lynch is a dick mate, I turn off the tele whenever his head appears. Can't throw a cut lunch to save himself, funniest thing ever. His intellect matches his fighting prowess, non existent.
  14. Not so sure about it coming from within the MFC but it was certainly staged, it's the only reason Brock was on the show.
  15. If he was they knew he would fall for it, there was no other reason to have him on the show. He is not a star of the game or big player off the field. Why else would they have him. I've written earlier that I think he was in on it at the start, if he wasn't then they sure knew they would get a bite and set the bait early.
  16. So you don't think it was set up from the start. Why would Brock be a guest on the show, he is only a bit part player. Sure he kicked a goal on the weekend but who is really interested in that. He's had a couple of good games lately but again who is interested in that. He's not Judd, Ablett or one of the key players in the game. What did he have to offer? No, it's more likely they were offered an interview and told if they asked the right questions they would get a scoop. Almost all the questions were aimed at Melbourne very little about Carlton. Not a conspiracy theory here just the reality of the media and ratings and of a show in a crowded market place being relevant particularly when their main competition is off air during the Olympics. For what purpose as far as Brock goes? who knows but a pretty fair chance that's how it went down.
  17. He did re appoint him, didn't he?
  18. I think Schwab should go definitely, don't know enough about the board but they have been caught napping a few times and need a good hard look.
  19. Sorry mate but that sort of statement adds nothing. I have a right to my opinion as do you, I also have a right to be critical of things that I don't think are working even though you may not like it. For what it's worth I like Neeld but I think Schwab causes divisiveness and problems where ever he has been (Melbourne, Richmond, Fremantle). I don't think Neeld will get a clear run at it until the broom has swept clean. I don't think we have the right people in charge of the club at admin level, this doesn't mean that I think I would do a better job, I don't have that skill set but I do think there are people better placed to run the club going forward and I see it as critical we get it sorted. Personally I would love to have someone like Brian Cook at the club although he seems pretty well tied up with the Cats. There are some good people out there and the AFL has proven to be a recruiting ground for other sports administrators around the country. We will never be a strong club until we build a strong leadership group from the top down.
  20. How? he resigned and took a payout. We were left down 2 draft picks that still cost us (where are those senior players we lack, they were coming from the 2000 draft) a massive loss that year plus a fine.
  21. His admin did back in 1999 costing us draft picks and fines, from Demonwiki "Off-field the club was hit with $600,000 in fines after voluntarily admitting salary cap violations over the preceding years. $250,000 was suspended on the condition that the club not be involved in any serious breaches fof five years. Joseph Gutnick had called for an enquiry on March 1 and admitted that the Demons excess payments would be more than $800,000. Melbourne were forced to hand their first pick in the 1999 National Draft to Fremantle as compensation for taking Jeff White with the tainted money, and they lost the first three picks of the 2000 Draft as well. They later got back their first pick in 2000."
  22. I think he has us in a very, very, very, very precarious position again. I fail to see what the Saints have to do with anything here but while you're at it they had a previous CEO called Brian Waldron. Do you think the Storm would be stupid enough to re appoint him.
  23. Bif if you look at the history you will find that Schwab was responsible for some of the problems in recruiting from the Daniher years, costing in the draft with salary cap breaches in his previous time at the club. Surely you don't think his current draft strategy has been working, a twice failed CEO in my view. Time for the broom to sweep clean.
  24. If all the issues this year were not enough then this just caps it off. The club faces some really serious issues and I don't have faith in the CEO to handle this situation. Changes should have been made not only to the Football dept. after 186 but right through the club, it was always going to come back and bite us on the bum. I'm interested to see how the board handle this now.
