I think that is a really unfair comment 'sat', 'Young Dee' has been one of the more positive posters on here but it's really hard to stay that way looking at the performances on ground. I mean even you said you couldn't sit out the Freo game and left at half time. I think a lot of us do watch the games through but it's like our worst football nightmare. Surely this can't be happening...but it is.

Let me have a go at this. This is based on a recent post and observation; someone posted that the players are restricted to certain parts of the ground and this is measured on the GPS, it may or may not be true but it looks to be true. No one seems to read the play coming down the ground and make position for the kicker, players seem stagnant in zones forward and back and in centre bounces. The first thing I would do is to get movement around the ground. We have 2 senior coaches in Neeld and Craig who are very structured and as someone else pointed out they believe in the science of football. The coaching move I would make is to get back not only the balance but take it back to the creative side of football, the art of football. Develop appropriate defensive structures but also let the players play, the spirit is taken out of them by the concentration of zones and defence. The best defence is having the ball and keeping it, we have trouble getting it and then give it away easily when we have it. The science aint working...

I think that's pretty normal, watching Murphy at Carlton the other night there were a few times when he should have and would have taken the game on but instead tried to bring a teammate into the game.
-
You've just got to keep playing him and use him further up the ground where he can run and carry the ball. He's a wingman, midfielder not a small forward.
-
Unless something changes dramatically I think we will get 1 & 2. One of them a priority.
-
Yes our skills are poor and we turnover the ball but a lot of that is because of little to no movement up the ground. Coming out of defence there are next to no legitimate targets moving. Is it because our players just don't read the play well? is it because they don't have the fitness to make position? is it because the can't be shagged getting it? is it confidence, or is it because of the game plan? Solve that problem and we pick up at least half the margin we've been losing by...guarantee it.

Kent has a nice bit of mongrel about him, classic move hitting Maxwell in the leg when attempting to get the ball. Loved the tackle on the wing dumping Blair and standing over him. Some good run and chase, we need to get games into him and he will really pay us back.
-
Yep, classic mistake from a kid...needed to stay between Swan and the goals but opened them up for him.
-
I think we need to take best available, we made the mistake before of picking on type of player. If Boyd is it then we should take him.
-
I think that's a big part of the problem there 'deanox', we haven't had any. As has been pointed out before it was the time around 2000 that's caused a lot of our problems now with lack of leaders at the club.

Good, things are moving.

If Jeff was really serious he would have had a private meeting with the club and offered his services and not started a media circus to make us a bigger laughing stock than we already are. I've listened to what he said and it's all wind, hot air from a politician used to imparting spin. As for people pulling the strings, I guarantee you that no one who got us in this mess is still in there pulling strings. That's all changed when the AFL walked in, and that's what has happened like it or not.
-
It's already happening, the biggest change this club has made and one of the biggest left of centre changes ever made in football has been to sack the CEO and not the coach, the coach will probably go but let it take the right course for a change. Change is coming and it will be a lot sooner than you think, the board and the football department will get a major overhaul but this won't be done in a month, yes Jackson has been here a month and hasn't sacked anyone yet. The board are in transition now, it makes no sense for them to speak until they have something to announce. Expect the start of the communication process tomorrow, things are changing. ...and 'Swooper' this is Jim's board, like it or not he was part of the problem here. He did some great things but he also made some major mistakes and put faith in people he shouldn't have. Some decisions just should not have been made, Schwab as CEO and bringing in Lyon as a favour to help out , if Jim wasn't well enough to do the job which he wasn't he should have stepped down. Bringing in someone with no qualification apart from the fact he played for the club and was a media personality just should not have happened.

THE DRAFT: TAC CUP FUTURE STARS ROLLING DRAFT

...and if we get a priority pick? do we take Boyd or Dunstan? why are Kelly and Billings so far back? -
THE DRAFT: TAC CUP FUTURE STARS ROLLING DRAFT

Thanks mate, value your opinion on the WA boys. -
Listen, don't you think there is a reason the current board is not saying much? they are at the moment in transition, Jackson has come in at the behest of the AFL and he is doing his job to get this club back on track. He is not about knee jerk reactions but he is very action oriented according to people I know that have worked with him in the past. Once he forms a view he will make the moves, we don't need Jeff as a distraction. I'm totally sick of people thinking we need him as though he is some messiah, he's not he's just a mouth on legs and I'm totally sick of people thinking it's some sort of thinking outside the square, it's not, it's just dumb thinking.

Just adding to your off topic, topic and it's probably not one for a thread of it's own just yet. Always a problem with the letting the game flow philosophy is every now and then they will pull up a 50/50 that has been let go and technically the KB's of the world can argue it is the correct decision when it was not paid on countless other times not only in this game but over the last few weeks. The one against Darling in the marking contest and the one Priddis got for in the back are 2 that immediately spring to mind but there were a few more inconsistencies. Back on topic...talking about Hudson before I was just a kid at Glenferrie the day he did his knee before half time I think it was and he had 8 on the board up until then. Is that right? That was the only way we were going to stop him that day.
-
You're right 'Bitter', often forgotten but an absolute freak of a player. The Kennedy game plan, get the ball and kick it to Hudson. He was playing the paddock way before Pagan and Carey.
-
Interesting...
-
Take you up on Judd, Ablett jnr for me...much better kick and mark and just as explosive. Will play out his career as a very dangerous forward like Matthews. ...but in the end it is just an opinion game.
-
We will have some coming through, a couple more top enders will be good for the mix. FA and trade (not draft picks) is for picking up the senior talent not draft picks.
-
If you think that then you are not really thinking it though.
-
Then they should run for president. If they are true diehard demons with a clear vision and plan then they won't be on a ticket with Kennett.
-
Just throwing it out there 'Gonzo' and brings up a few possibilities which you've outlined. I think Clark may well end up are no 1 ruck which will give us an extra quality mid straight up.
-
I know it goes against the midfield grain but I wouldn't overlook Boyd either. Tambling, Buddy anyone...
