Talk sense mate, I think a game is tough when it's not free flowing. I've seen Moloney do this against Geelong in the past at the 'G' quite a few years back. It's when the opposition are applying pressure, and Geelong with their scored against record this year haven't been doing this, that Moloney has a history of going missing. No one tagging him and allowed to run free with a big ruckman dominating and Simon Black breaking the ball free, this type of game is made for Moloney. It doesn't mean I want him at the MFC, I don't. Having said that credit where credit is due, I thought he played a great last quarter and his enthusiasm and running was a catalyst for the win.

"There's a strong argument," Gil McLachlan on a Priority Pick.

I think the 4 of them are good players. lets have a look at the championships and see how they play. Billings gets compared to Del Santo a bit but that is more to do with his skills, from what I've seen of him which I admit is limited I think he is a harder ball winner than Del. -
The best forward playing VFL is another...

I think 'rpfc' answers the your post well 'dees64', if what you say is right then the AFL should abolish the whole idea of a priority pick. As for the Swans, it's a nice notion of how they operate but it is far from true...the AFL has helped them out in the past and continues to with salary cap concessions. Geelong had a big kick along with the father and son provisions that have since been changed. Yes both of these clubs are well managed and coached but they have had a leg up in the past and there is no logical reason why we shouldn't get one now. -
Nah! they were running on adrenaline in the last, running forward with the ball. He's done that for us in the past. It's when the game gets tough that he goes missing. I'm happy he's not with us now, it's all Brent's way or nothing. Geelong didn't bother tagging him and came unstuck, now if you want to see a real player talk about Black who at least kept them in the game....or talk about Jones who draws a hard tag every week, as Craig says this guy is a true champ who in a better side would be a Brownlow winner.

Pretty quiet early but had a great last quarter. Interesting aside in that game when the ball hit the umpire, it was heading for a Geelong goal and ended up a Brisbane goal which changed the flow of the game. What if this happened in the dying seconds of a GF with scores within a goal...surely it must be a dead ball if it hits the ump.

Zac Dawson is a much maligned player and a much better player than many give him credit for. One thing he always does is hit the contest hard, you get nothing less than a full effort from Dawson. Pederson is nowhere near Dawson's level and unlikely that he ever will be. I think this is the point here 'Nasher', we took some really good mature agers in Jones, Terlich and Clisby. Pederson's spot could have gone to someone like Hannath, I don't understand what he brings to the table.
-
This is spot on, and if you look at where Terlich gets into trouble sometimes (not always) it's that no one has bothered to make position up the ground for him...they are not working hard enough so then he needs to find another let out option and gets rushed into his next play.
-
Yep, good point and it's why he needs to keep playing at AFL level so he learns. He got away with this stuff as a junior and at VFL level, when he learns these lessons will be a very good footballer.

A few of the foundation hero's that I know have been less than overwhelmed by their treatment. Jackson has a big task ahead, with some good people on board it will be turned around and Melbourne will be a good club for players, supporters and sponsors.

Jetta at Sydney has pace, Jetta at Melbourne doesn't. Blease is technically a good kick both feet, problem to me is he has brain fades with the ball in hand. He still plays footy like a kid and needs to grow up, take the right option and consistently hit it up. That's experience at this level, games under the belt for Sam and he will be a real weapon.

It was rather strange considering one of the reasons he was pushed out by Collingwood was his inability to play that forward/ruck role. The full back one was when I knew they weren't serious, surely...

Changes Next Week v Western Bulldogs
rjay replied to Straight Sets Simon's topic in Melbourne Demons
I don't think it was what Kosi did but Pedo's lack of attack on the contest and his indecision with the ball doesn't show me why the club were falling over themselves to get him to the club. -
I can't see what Howcroft brings to the club, maybe he is one of those 'liniment sniffers' that Archer talks about. Hopefully the review of the board will give us a clue.

Colin Garland is the best player at Melboune Football Club

Interesting that Tim Watson (a few weeks back) named him as the player he would pick from our team, rated him very highly. -

No, this is a bit of a myth a little like the one North have about the shinboner spirit. Last week the Swans played Jack's brother just to give him a taste...according to reports he was going ok in the resies but not setting it alight. We need to turn players over to see who can play at the level, Davis has been consistent at VFL for a couple of years now and been kept on the list. I understand his kicking lacks but we need to see if he can step up. Taggert has had some good games at Casey but lacks consistency, would be helped if they played him as a mid. He has one thing we need and that is a good kick. Let's see if he can play. -

In: Gawn, Taggert, Davis and Frawley. We need to have a look at Taggert and Davis -
Col Garland all class, Pederson??????I hope we got a bit more cash to pay out his contract.

Partly true but you also need someone to push your case. Ox and Lyon were lucky that Ian Johnson was involved at a time they were otherwise I doubt they would have had a start in the media.

I think you are right here. I support Jackson in what he is doing and I pushed hard to get Schwab out of the place but please don't think of PJ as the messiah, he is a very good administrator, something we have sadly lacked. As he has said, he will need help, it will be a team effort. A good President and board, experienced quality FD boss, and a quality coach and we will be on our way. One big problem with a club like ours that craves success is that we are looking for the one person to lead us out of the wilderness, Barassi, Templeton, Moore, Big Carl, Diamond Jim, Big Jimmy Stynes. It just doesn't work that way, it's a team effort...the Geelong FC is a prime example. Costa, Cook, Thompson, Balme, Wells and many other unsung heroes and that's before we talk players. Lets support Jackson not worship him, he is only doing the job the way it should be done. Very well and professionally, seems to be a very foreign in this organisation I know and I understand why some would confuse this with the 2nd coming.

A sad business this 'Jack'...

I hope Craig has learnt from his time at Adelaide and here with Neeld. Statistics and science are only part of the story, as Martin tells it and I believe there is a lot more to football. I fear that we may have traded one scientific coach for another even if it is only temporary, lets hope not. Time will tell.
-
As much as I hate the place it's better than out of existence. If the team can get back on track it won't be an issue, we will draw crowds back to the 'G'.

Col always looks ashen faced, that's his thing.

I think so too 'Redleg', Derm likes the sound of his own voice but it would be good to hear someone with the facts at hand take him up on it. For a tough footballer I find Derm to be a bit of a wimp when someone fronts him, he likes to be everyones mate. He takes shots but never when he's face to face or person to person.
