WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DANIEL CROSS
rjay replied to MadAsHell's topic in Melbourne Demons
The games passed him by, we don't need to be picking up any more players who don't get a game at their club. Byrnes couldn't get a game at the Cats, fair enough they are a top team. Cross struggles to get a game for the Dogs and they're around about us. Cross has been a good servant at the Dogs and will retire as one. Our youthful midfield doesn't need another player who is over the hill and has average disposal skills at best. -
What a complete waste of time. A one dimensional player who adds no value to our list. Read my other post on small forwards, I'm sure many will disagree but I don't see a place for someone called or playing strictly as a small forward. High half forward rotation through mid, look at Geelong and Hawthorn if you want to see how it works.
-
I think Mathieson may be on to him.
-
NO NO NO NO! Small forwards are a waist of time, surely looking at Carlton you can work this out. Check out Geelong they don't have one, they have a number of players who rotate through the midfield and work as what you would call high half forwards, Motlop is the classic here. Ballantine at Freo is another as is Wingard at Port, Bruest and Rioli at Hawthorn. Garlett, Betts and this type of player are no use unless they have more strings to their bow this is one reason Carlton are such a one dimensional team. Get midfield types who can get there own ball and kick goals.

...and that's about what I rate Yarran as, a runner, a front runner. As soon as teams started manning up on him and not giving him room the run dried up.
-
Worse than that we wouldn't have Hogan.
-
It's the kind of joke Carlton will offer up for pick one and GWS will laugh at it. If I was GWS I would be asking for Murphy.
-
Terry Wallace says 'Hi'...
-
Agree with you on this 'Sat', he's been a consistent performer for Casey and if he gets called up will deserve his place. As for the kicking, he gave off a beautiful pass to Hogan in the last game. I know he can be hit or miss but it's time he had a run at senior level.
-
Viney and Hogan at Casey makes for an interesting game if it wasn't already.
-
You don't have to go too far back either 'maurie'. Garland should be in the AA squad this year, probably our only rep.
-
I think they should have a serious look at the idea of ball protection in league, where if you drop or lose the ball then it is turned over to the other side. I don't like players just dropping the ball and the thought it is knocked out in the tackle. The onus should be on the player to hold on too or correctly dispose of the ball.
-
It is but thankfully it doesn't.
-
I'm liking Scharenberg but haven't seen enough of any of these including Kelly, Aish & Sheed to make a decision. Would be good to have a priority pick.

Played both key forward and back at under 18 level. I'm not convinced with him, admittedly only watched him in a couple of games. (Kristian Jaksch) ...back on topic, I remember watching Jack at preseason training when Neeld took over and he was not switched on at all and had a poor work rate. Now in hindsight that could have been due to his ongoing health issues, but I did notice a big turnaround at the start of this year. So the kid is learning, putting in the work and making progress. He's going to have some down games and I hope everyone doesn't jump off the current bandwagon, hasn't got to 10 games yet. The kicking is working for him but his ball drop is pretty much a drop rather than guide so it's going to be a bit hit and miss while he sorts it out.

I'm not sure about the 'Realistically' bit but it is your opinion.
-
KB and Patrick are the only ones that know the rules, just ask them....
-
That was the umpires brain fade, he can take the gold for that one.
-
Unfortunately the injury has all but finished his career. Pity, at his best he was explosive.
-
You are getting a bit of stick on this 'joeboy', but to me there would be only minor differences. I think Craig would be on the same page as you here. Probably a bit harsh on Silvia, Jones I think did a good job against the weight of numbers that's probably your point there. Howe I would turn it around and say 'Howey get involved', which is what you are saying. Trenners is starting to get some ball which is good but yeah he didn't set the world on fire. Kent did struggle, whether it's awareness, being a bit overawed at the moment or maybe even just a bit tired as a first year player I think he will give us something. Nicho to me is doing all he can to play AFL and good on him but his decisions and kicking are really nowhere near good enough for this level. Can he turn it around, I'm not sure, as I say I think he is working hard to keep his spot and he may have no more to give. He does seem to lack awareness.
-
'master' if it had of spun forward it would not have gone out of bounds. That's the problem with the call. I loved Jimmy Bartell trying to claim one a bit later that Hawthorn kicked over...the ump didn't fall for it but he made his point.
-
Dwayne Russell....say no more.
-
Pretty sure this is how it will happen 'Redleg'.
