Played the first game of the season together.

Basically saying he's not part of any ticket and doesn't think a ticket is the way to go. Need to work with AFL.
-
Don't let this ego driven a... anywhere near the club, he had his turn and we're still recovering. Would be a backwards step of massive proportions, might be worth a listen to SEN at 6 to hear what Neitz has to say about his name being thrown up. Whether it's just a Robbo story or not we don't need this now. As for the corporate governance rubbish he is bringing up, it didn't seem to matter when his government decided to tip out elected councils and replace them with commissioners. It has been proven that the egos, and that means you Stockdale, that have tried to run this club have failed so I'm happy for the time being to be under AFL administration or whatever it is they are trying to call it. F...O...
-
Stockdale will be a divisive figure at the club, no way do I want him involved at board level. No time to elaborate at the moment but I see him in a similar light to CS a bad, bad move for the club. Go away Alan and take your selfish, divisive agenda somewhere else.

Anyone would love Griffen, but not a chance of getting him.
-
Happy with Eade myself. Not so sure about golden boys or sundance kids.
-
I think you are right. Ayres has been in the VFL and thought of as out of touch, if Roos wants to get back into coaching it will be in the next couple of years or not at all.
-
Agree mate, he hit up targets whilst under maximum pressure. The kid is a real talent and I wouldn't be disappointed to have him at Melbourne.
-
Makes as much sense as Kennedy I guess. These things are only going to get worse and the clubs themselves are going to throw up some rubbish to try and get pick one....that's going to be a good laugh too.

I think you might find that Wilson is on the money here. Hird has a lot to answer for.

I have had a passing interest in NRL for a number of years now and origin has become their big thing, it's not for us, we've moved past it as 'Real Demon' says. One interesting side light to last nights game was the leadership of Cam Smith when the incident occurred with the idiot who ran on the ground. Rather than lose the plot and yell and scream and get in the refs face like his NSW counterparts he went to the ref and stated the rules clearly (amazing that he new the rules to the letter) and made his point thus ensuring the proper ruling was made and Qld came away winners. Now Cam had every right to lose it as it was his team that scored the try that was disallowed. Can't beat good experienced leadership.

If we had a priority pick I would give it up for Sloane. He's a tough uncompromising midfield competitor.
-
Agree with these points but will say that Sheedy had accomplices in Gubby & SOS. I think the AFL were asleep at the wheel and only realised way to late installing their man as CEO to sort the mess out.

I posted somewhere on this at the time that they were going to really struggle and for these reasons. The recruiting process was poor and ill conceived, the idea was to get a club up and running and being competitive within the first few years. Unfortunately they got greedy with the thought of all the young talent on offer and pitched for an early premiership. They needed senior talent not a great batch of young kids and added another kid, Scully as their big money recruit, a decision that has been a disaster of the highest order. That money needed to go to an established player. Apart from that in their lead up year they had their team running around in a local competition when GC in their lead up year played VFL football which was a great grounding for Swallow, Smith and a few of the others, a bit like the grounding Hogan is getting with us this year. The AFL were asleep at the wheel on this and should have applied the brakes and directed the club's recruiting strategy. They have been to smart for themselves by half. Following on your point about Tassie, I think you are right there as well and I'm pretty sure the money for the broadcast deal wouldn't have stacked up with them in the competition . GWS has brought the money in, money that is now there to help save our club, if they don't get it right though that money will evaporate next deal.

Unfortunately most assistants are 'players men' until they step up. That's the hard bit, knowing who can step up but I agree Simpson has done all the right things and has the attributes to be a good head coach.
-
Selwood...it helps to pick the right players.
-
Eade for me.
-
The way he is being used you are probably right, I think he is a much better player than that.
-
Then you better read my post clearly because that is exactly what I am saying, he should be playing as a mid. We need mids and this kid is a good one, I don't see the value of playing Couch, Magner and Roden ahead of him. He showed in his game at Box Hill last year he is streets ahead of these guys as an AFL prospect.
-
I'm not sure what you are getting at here??? are you agreeing with me?
-
Thanks 'Tim', hopefully they might play him in the centre square a bit more at VFL level. Last year at Box Hill he had a great game doing just that. As a club we are crying out for mids and we have one who is a good size and can kick the ball yet we continue playing Couch, Magner and Rodan ahead of him.
-
Development legue Rory Taggert: Rory was dominant in this game. He won a heap of the ball and kicked three goals. ...anyone know if Rory played in the midfield (looks like it) which is where he should be playing at VFL level and on into the AFL team. Time to get proper development into the right players.
-
Eade is interested, don't worry about that. He has unfinished business.
-
They can forget getting back into the first round for the draft then, they really don't have a lot on offer.
