  1. It's not the touches, he's having to scavenge (it's the only word I can think of) for them and a player of his class should be making it look a lot easier than it is. Then he is not really doing a lot with them, i don't know what the efficiency stats show and I don't really care, he has no penetration at the contest or with the ball and should be bringing others into the game at a bare minimum.
  2. Me neither.
  3. Agree 'Ben', he really looked to be a future champ as a teenager. He still has time and I hope he can get it back together.
  4. I definitely agree that the club has been run as you say and very poorly but I'm not as concerned by the perception as that changes week in week out in AFL circles. I am confident we are putting the right people in place to move the club forward and I haven't been for quite a while now. A lot of the perception will change with success it does strange things to peoples perception and memory. Whilst it's not a "we must have it" for me it would be hard to see any club having a case for a PP in the future if we don't get one this year... but as you say it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. It would help be a help though and I certainly hope we get it. Lets see what happens, either way we have some really interesting times ahead. Wouldn't it be good to go into a season without all these discussions of draft picks, coaching appointments etc. and just be concerned about on field issues and where to get good finals tickets.
  5. It's a good question. For development reasons I would far rather see him play as a mid than Magner, Couch, Roden or McKenzie. He is a good height and weight, can get the ball and is a great kick. He is the type of player we are crying out for at senior level but was being wasted in the development squad on the weekend.
  6. You can have a good culture and priority picks, you can have a good culture without priority picks, you can't have a good culture with the wrong people running the club. I think Geelong are a good example of a club that has been well run off the field and it has translated to on field success. By the way, where have I claimed the Cat's aren't a great example of building a club. You will find many posts where I believed we needed leadership of the Geelong kind, the most recent being why we did not need Kennett at the club. I wanted us to get Cook to the club when we had the opportunity but instead we renewed Shwab's contract. I would love for Ling to be involved in a some official capacity next year. It is why I had been so strong in my views over the last few years that we desperately needed change at the top, many disagreed with my view and argued strongly for the status quo but my guess is they can see why change was imperative now. All of the successful clubs get a leg up from the AFL in some way or another and there is no reason why we shouldn't seek and receive assistance to help get this club back up and running. I think unfortunately some are confusing this with the sorry tale of a past administration, poor drafting, poor development of players, failed coaching appointments and tanking. There are also some that accuse the people in favour of a priority pick as seeing it as some kind of answer to all our problems. I don't see it that way at all, in fact I don't remember anyone stating this view at all in the current environment. I think they are getting confused with how the Schwab administration did business. The PP is one of a number of measures that will help get things on track, it is not the one thing but it is an important part of the mix if we want a relatively quick turnaround. We are in direct competition to get up off the bottom of the ladder with 2 clubs that have had access to the best young talent in the land, we will need some help if we are to get in the race.
  7. None of us know what sort of evidence ASADA have, circumstantial or not although I would think Watson's admission is a little more than circumstantial.
  8. Doesn't get a lot of the ball which is exactly what too many of our guys have.
  9. They might not announce it but if they have made the decision, well as we know the AFL leeks like a sieve. ...couldn't care about the other clubs by the way.
  10. Sprinting in drug storm as Gay, Powell and Simpson face bans after failing tests Interesting article on athletics and this quote from [censored]. [censored]said: I dont have a sabotage story. I put my trust in someone and was let down. I dont have anything to say to make this seem like it was a mistake or it was on USADAs (United States Anti-Doping Agency) hands, someone playing games. I dont have any of those stories. I made a mistake. I know exactly what went on, but I cant discuss it right now. I hope I am able to run again, but I will take whatever punishment I get like a man.
  11. I love Steve as a player, don't know him as a person. I find him the most entertaining player in the game to watch.
  12. 23 touches 'old dee'! Come on guys 'don't mention the war'.
  13. Is that Alastair ..Tom Scully a one club player...Lynch. Take nothing from Lynch, he has little to nothing between the ears.
  14. Ok, seeing as you and Dwayne are on the same page then how about you both look a bit deeper next time rather than sprouting off stats as though they tell the whole story. I think he would be one of the last people that I would like my original thoughts to be aligned with but there you go....
  15. The PP helped the Pies get Pendlebury. I think others have answered your post and others re the Cats pretty well, I think you have been listening to too much DR BS on Fox.
  16. Taggert in the development team??? 3 goals and in the best, I know Magner, Couch and a host of others are good VFL players but this kid has them covered for class and the ability to play at the highest level. I hope he doesn't become a waisted talent.
  17. Nah! you reckon Jordie Mc, Magner or Couch would have made any difference to the scoreline.
  18. 'Redleg', the only problem I see with a mini draft is I'm not sure what clubs will be willing to give up to get the player. We might be better off taking the kids now and developing for the future. There would need to be some kind of fall back position if the right players are not put up. One thing is for sure, we do need draft assistance now.
  19. Was...but I get your point, the others, Rodan and Byrnes have been nowhere near the top 50.
  20. I don't think he was that good at all, he was dropped back to Casey early and is back there again. I would like to see him be more attacking, he is one that seemed to be caught up in the defence first mode. He will get another chance and I hope he takes the game on like he did early in his career.
  21. Crowley is a very underrated player and has the height and pace to match it with most mids, Tappy doesn't and hasn't.
  22. Don't forget Scharenberg, I wouldn't be upset with him and Aish.
  23. Thought the same. Other interesting thing with the Cats and recruiting is that Bill McMaster is still involved, having people like Bill in your network has got to help. It makes sense like a lot of things they do.
  24. Good summation again. Thought Garland was ok. You've got a thing about Kent and awareness, I think it's more concentration.
  25. Beat me too it 'Redleg', yet there are some on here who still argue against it. Maybe not anymore. We should have our answer in the next week or so, whenever the commission is set to meet.
