2nd round I'd think about but I wouldn't give away a 1st round for him.

There was the conventional wisdom that Swan didn't hurt you enough with his possessions and if you were going to tag someone it would be Pendleberry who has also had around 40 tonight or Thomas who seemed to be more effected by the tag. Swan sure caused a lot of damage tonight, I think if Danger had of been able to run through the middle the Pies would have had something to think about but as it was they had a free run. I notice on another thread Thompson's name came up to look at as a free agent but his recent form suggests he is on the way out , if he gets a one year contract at Adelaide now it will be a bonus for him.

What he does looks good, he doesn't do it very much. That about sums it up for me.
-
You might take it but there's no way know GWS would.
-
Not worth #20, would be speculative the way he's been going lately.
-
Yep 'old dee', always had a suspicion that Alan Scott was right. For me if it's not Roos then Craig or Eade.

What a great innings from Agar, I know it's not football but what a sporting moment for a 19yo (for anyone really). Well done kid you just might have turned the Ashes series on it's head. Let's hope so. ...wonder if he can play midfield.

Viney v Gysberts....

You have it backwards and so does Mooney. The head of the FD under Jacksons structure is the boss, he and he alone reports to the CEO. Last time I looked the coach was a part of that department so Mahoney should be on the committee as interim head the same as Craig is on the selection committee for the team as interim coach. He is not appointing his boss, he is the boss. Jackson has put structures in place and trust in the people in the interim jobs to do the role they are in place to do. Until anyone else steps up then these are the people that should be involved. Todd's role is an interesting one in representing the players and I think it shows good faith on the clubs behalf where there hasn't been a lot for a fair time now.

Agree with all...and love the one where they lose control directly to a teammate, how convenient. Don't get me started on throwing the ball, well just a quick one. I can't figure out how you can handball over your head when the hand holding the ball moves from waist to head high and the punching hand grazes the ball at best, surely that's not a legit handball.

Yeah, I'm not a big wrap for Yarran. I remember a couple of seasons back when our good mate Greg Denham labelled him a champion, a little soon for that talk I would have thought. Some poor caller got howled down for disagreeing, imagine that. If Yarran could get his work rate up and get more involved in the contest he could be value, a bit like Motlop at the Cats but there are a few too many if's for me at the moment.

I would swap our first pick for Sloane, won't happen but he is a gun.

Completely understand your point 'old dee'.

See it pretty much the same as you here and think that along with the board these things are vital to the clubs future. I have faith that this time we will get it right.

'BB', I've found Mahoney's position interesting. I can't see him retaining his current position as Jackson has flagged the need for more experience in the FD, whether the new coach provides enough only time will tell. I like the way Jackson has come into the club and I think he handles things in a very professional manner. He talks of providing a professional environment for the players to develop their careers as part of the MFC and I think he will do the same for staff he thinks have something to offer. In Mahoney's case even if he does not stay on at the club, Jackson seems to be playing a mentoring role which is a win win. It's also good to have some input from someone involved in the day to day running of the FD and at the current time Mahoney is the head of the department so it only makes sense. On Craig, I think he will stay on next year but it's just a feeling. He may well be the new coach and if not will head up player development. Just a feeling, nothing more to substantiate it.

The quality of the coaching sub committee shouldn't be understated, no Gary Lyon and this time we have a premiership coach on board. Whatever way we go I have confidence we have the right people making the decisions this time.
-
I think they are after Boyd, they need another key forward with Tippett gone and 'Tex' coming back from the knee. If we had access to Boyd or there was another key forward coming through then yep but we don't. It's interesting to see that things are getting serious about that top pick, that Sloanes name is thrown up is a big one. Carlton wouldn't be able to match that unless they put up Murphy and even then I would lean to Sloane.
-
I wonder how well he would have gone with Murray if he knew absolutely nothing about tennis.
-
Neither have been able to go through the midfiled and it's part reason why they are playing in the 2's. As I said to a Richmond mate, they will never win a flag with Nahas and King in the side, like their endevour but they are just not good enough. Do we need to select any more players who don't add real value.
-
Betts type - No, Milne type - No, Ballintyne type - Yes
-
Maybe, maybe not but I think we both agree that they need more than one trick. I would love someone like the 3 you mentioned with us and just noticed 'Nashers' post above on Watts, I think he does have the ability to crumb the ball forward as he's shown before. A 196cm small forward would create some problems, he has the speed, skill and awareness.
-
This is exactly what I'm getting at, the 3 you've mentioned plus Ballantine, Wingard and the like, that's what we need. It's the Carlton and St Kilda type we don't need...whether it's the player or the club development but players like Betts and Garlett, Saad, they don't give enough and when they are covered they don't have a plan b.
-
No, Duigan good VFL player average disposal, Laidler a bit slow...we are well covered for backs.
-
Don't know much about Michaliadis but Banfield has shown nothing to say he can play through the midfield. ...but it's really the idea of us needing a small crumbing forward that I have a problem with, I think it is a waist of a position and with interchange restrictions due next season it will be an obsolete position if it's not already. We need players who can accumulate the ball, set up and kick goals work hard up the ground, that counts out a lot of if not all names mentioned on this thread. Saad, Garlett, Betts, Yarran, even Milne no thanks.
-
Don't agree, the permanent crumber role has gone with the idea of having 6 forwards and 6 backs. The elite sides in the competition don't use them.
