  1. Yes Zappa despite appearances was very anti drug. A friend tells the story of some band members sneaking a smoke with him when they were in Melbourne in the 70's.
  2. One story of his that touched me was when asked about his guitars he said he had owned a heap Strats (can't remember the number) but they'd all been stolen over the years. He recounted a story of the band staying at a seedy motel and he stayed up all night watching the truck to make sure it wasn't stolen...well he must of dozed off for a minute because when he opened his eyes it was gone along with another Strat.
  3. Fellow Melbourne supporter David Briggs in fine form. Pretty sure they toured with Little Feat among others back in the day.
  4. Unfortunately it's an old story 'Dannyz', the longer this goes on the more I'm inclined to join the '@old dee' camp. I'll believe it when I see it...
  5. I suspect Caulfield is just smoke and mirrors and there is nothing concrete there. Just a faint hope...and some crumbs to throw out to us, the supporters.
  6. An incredible talent Lowell George, many, many interesting stories...

Yep, but he is a key forward.

All I can think is that maybe we are in play for Darcy to take over from Max in 2025. This won't help us in 2024 but maybe there is some method in the madness.
  9. From memory 2 Brownlow votes in his first game...
  10. I think he will play early on. I don't believe we recruit a top 10 player to spend much time at Casey. Good players learn to play AFL by playing at the level. I love that he's already focussed on getting his first game.
  11. ...and the way he moves through traffic. Very smooth.
  12. Don't know why but thought the same. I think I'm dreaming...
  13. I reckon he will play early on.
  14. 'layzie'
  15. If he plays mid..Bont.

Unfortunately has always struggled with injury 'norm'...but a very good player when he could get on the park. He's one that would have been a champion I believe. Kind of a Luke Jackson but one that could mark and play any position on the ground.
  17. Hanks handled it extremely well unlike Scott. Funny that a young player showed more class than a senior coach.

Great player when he can get on the park. Unfortunately it's not very often, that's why he's available.
  19. There are a lot of fair weather supporters on here. Bad game today, a shocker...but they happen. Lets see what the team brings next week.
  20. I'm a big believer in the Alan Jeans school too 'picket'...give 'em nothing. The most boring press conferences in the history of AFL were Jeansy's.. ...but alas 'picket', 'titan' is right, we're living in a different time. Players now have responsibilities to promote the game and the club. I really hope we see none of the BS like tough love, we've turned the corner, last year really hurt, we've learned our lessons kind of stuff. Max gave none of that, just a few generic comments, no promises.
  21. I think you're being harsh on McNamara... She's very important to the defensive structure with her running and she does use it well with time going forward. Can be pushed off the ball when kicking and this is where some of those stats you mentioned came from. Westy is a bit unlucky but her form has been down and having 3 inside mids of similar size, someone needed to make way & it wasn't going to be Hanks or Purcell. Her disposal is the big issues with her game, that and getting caught out of position. We've gone without a true relief ruck at times but I'm pleased they selected Campbell, I don't think Pearce can do it alone. I'm guessing with Heath coming in to the midfield there isn't another position she can play. In the end team balance was against her.
  22. If 'DeeSpencer' was the chairman of selectors I'm sure Birch would be on the chopping block.
  23. No, disagree...she hasn't had a good year & was the obvious one to go. Given Heath will come into the midfield as a tagger there is no place for West.
  24. So, you didn't bother to have a look at the news item then. I might be going deaf in my old age but I didn't hear Max mention the words tough love. Is there another video that I'm missing?
  25. What comment did Max make that you think would add more pressure.
