  1. Also screws us for the Freo game the following week. So we get one normal game out of the first 6. Maybe Freo have to come here now for that one????
  2. They've had their peaks & troughs...but not like we have. Hinkley & Buckley are far from over the line yet either. ...but the Goodwin rollercoaster is a concern. Mahoney is another that must come under scrutiny. They've got this year to sort it out... Where is the brand they talk of? The only brand we have is that of a flakey football team.
  3. I don't think he can pick a team 'Nev'... I also think he a has big problem with communication. He continually tells us the team is not connecting and we are not playing our brand. The evidence tells me that we bomb the ball forward, anyone can see that. He tells us it's not the game plan...'sat' tells us we're all stupid, it's not the game plan. Well Goody you have a problem because the players don't understand the game plan after 4 years. We coughed the ball up today and Geelong played keepings off. Whilst on communication, the explanation of Bennell being omitted would make Sammy Kekovich proud. No wonder the players haven't got a clue...
  4. AVB is unfortunately one of those players that gets better in the fans eyes the less games he plays. Vanders has a red hot go but he was underdone and his skill set is really VFL level on the cusp of AFL. Without the injuries he would have been handy but they have taken there toll on his fitness level and development. He's never going to be an answer, just depth.
  5. You're right they are...but Fritsch is again being played out of position this year. Back last year and too deep forward this year. I've lost any faith in him as a coach. Look at today, small forward line and again we bombed in too much. Then we allowed them to chip the ball around at will. Uncontested marks were embarrassing. Surely you adjust to take away their strength, particularly if we've gone in small. You expect forward pressure but there is none if they can chip and mark at will. For me it has to be Bennell, I know it won't be. We have enough contested players in the team, one less won't matter. We don't have skill & class. I was going to say one more might make a difference but possibly he is our only one. Yep, maybe or at least give Brayshaw a bit more game time ahead of Jack. We could change our midfield mix with Salem but he is a lazy footballer unfortunately.
  6. Really??? mmmm, sense of humour switch on zero today.
  7. A little off topic, but...whilst talking about umpires. One thing I have noticed is the deliberate out of bounds interpretation has been tightened up. You kick the ball and it goes out, you can almost guarantee it will be a free kick against. Almost a default last touch rule.
  8. Thanks' @Lord Nev'...that was so funny. Still got the tears streaming down my face.
  9. Not just Hibberd but we can't afford to bomb the ball at all...it plays into the Cats biggest strength...but spread their defence and they are in real trouble. Following on from the above point. Stewart is key to their attack from defence, if it's not Melk then it has to be AVB. We cut Stewart out and we're a long way to winning this game.
  10. Not when he's on the team sheet as omitted...
  11. If we get on top in the midfield and use Gawn's taps to advantage then it will pressure their 2 way running in the midfield, which is probably worse that ours. The midfield battle will decide this one. Harmes will be better value for us in that battle.
  12. All I know is that the sooner he is back in, the better we will be. Godwin's messaging was as clear as mud. A fit Bennell will be of more benefit than any of this weeks inclusions with the exception of maybe Pickett.
  13. Unfortunately I think it looks as bad as it is...his leg buckled.
  14. Not a great game...yet again. Let's hope they can break the mould in the 2nd half otherwise it looks like a good book and an early night.
  15. Unfortunately Goody's explanation left things open to interpretation. I've got no problem with him being rested but I do have a problem with him being dropped for Hannan.
  16. There is a lot more to this than the you say here 'Mel'... Zep have become the whipping boys (The ANB's or Omac's of music) on this one and yeah there is an argument to be made. ...but the problem with legal protection for a lot of the old blues songs is no one knows who really wrote them in the first place, and usually no one in particular did. If that makes sense. They all plagiarised each other, but it wasn't called that then as there was no money in it so nobody bothered. It's folk music, it's been handed down over generations. I've heard Big Bill Broonzy talk about borrowing from so and so who borrowed from so and so and on and on. Who did write "Key to the Highway' for example. "Key to the Highway" is usually credited to Charles "Chas" Segar and William "Big Bill" Broonzy.[1] Broonzy explained the song's development: One thing is for sure...BB King, Muddy Waters and the like made a good living because the British artists championed their work. They took 'Race' music back to the US masses...many of whom thought it was original stuff from the UK. Would it have happened without Clapton, the Stones...who knows. Maybe at a later time... I mean even Hendrix had to go to the UK to kick start his solo career. He'd been kicking around the US before as a sideman but had to go away and come back to be recognised. Interesting topic on a footy forum. That's what I like about here...the tangents can at times be more interesting than the footy. Man...I hope we nail the Cats this week...that we can agree on.
  17. I'm always torn on this one... If we stop the posting are we really just hiding it? is it better to know what's out there for better or worse? do we ignore it? Does it encourage racism? or does it just reflect what people are already thinking? I don't know, in the end I think you're right though. The powers that be need to stop it on their platforms. ...but we need to be aware of the undercurrent. I'm really concerned when things get swept under the carpet.
  18. It's quite pathetic really but there will always be small minded individuals out there. Can we change the underlying behaviours and beliefs of the masses? I don't know, there has been a change on the surface but a lot of these issues run deep. The Goodes situation and Eddie outbursts (and failure to take ownership of them) tell me we have a long, long way to go. I guess we keep chipping away.
  19. Melk & Hannan couldn't catch a cold let alone lay a tackle...forward pressure is neither's strong suit. AVB is physical but skills are average.
  20. I'm with Terry... The explanation was nonsensical.
  21. They won't carry both into the finals...Brown for me. Daicos won't make it long term.
  22. All clubs will have these issues in their past. ...and if one of our ex players was aggrieved I hope we would apologise for poor behaviour. My take is the problem lies with Collingwood's refusal to admit fault. Heritier would like them to acknowledge what he says is correct and apologise. Players have come out and verified his story so why do Collingwood feel the need to launch some half a.... enquiry. I can understand his frustration.
  23. We have, but when you've got probably the best starting mid in the competition you would be stupid not to have him play there at just about every opportunity.
  24. I'm just following your point... So if the coach thinks Tommy is doing his role he would be over the moon with how Neitz or Lyon did the same....
  25. It's one of the reasons Tommy is struggling at the moment. If he doesn't hold his grabs he's not giving us value... Talls need to have some agility.
