  1. Josh Bruce is in the same boat as Tommy, not a first tall. I would have an in form Tommy ahead of him.
  2. This post makes no sense... I agree we need a first tall. ...but there were none available. They haven't bet the house but they also can't conjure something up if it's not there.
  3. I'm an old fashioned coach 'Lucifer', I will use stats but mainly use my eyes to watch what happens on the ground. Langdon and Tomlinson are hard runners who push back hard to cover. Plus anything that helps bring back Gus into the middle and allows Trac more time on ball is a bonus. I don't need Jay's flakey stats to tell me that and to be honest he didn't need them to back up his premise. Maybe he's been David Kingised...
  4. It only makes sense to bid then 'Pennant', no point helping out GWS if it's going to narrow our prospects unless there are any side deals done...
  5. It's not about replacing them...although it will be a by product. Over the last couple of seasons we have had to use the likes of Brayshaw, Tyson and Jones on the wings and Trac more forward than perhaps we would have liked. I know we've pretty much all had a shots at Goody for not giving Gus more time in the middle where he plays his best footy. Langdon and Tomlinson will allow us to run our best inside mids where they play their best footy. A core midfield of Oliver, Brayshaw, Trac and Viney rotating forward and off the bench is going to be a pretty decent engine room.
  6. The only quality forward available in this trade period was Elliot. He chose not to come. Others like Jenkins, Bruce etc would not have added anything and weren't worth pursuing. They could indeed have been seen as a backwards step. I think the club have done all they could to address deficiencies on our list. Adding run on the wings allows our mids to spend more time forward, it allows Brayshaw to play where he plays his best, it allows Oliver to spend some time forward and develop that side of his game. We go to the draft and hopefully take 2 quality players who can add more to our forward half and or better delivery inside 50... So whilst we didn't add any class KPF's to our list non were available. We go in looking for improvement in Tmac, Weid, Trac, Fritsch forward, game plan, fitness & delivery. I think many we will be pleasantly surprised, some even eating their words.
  7. Wrong Lynch 'bingers'...the Adelaide variety. ...and whilst I understand Gunston's height he doesn't play as a tall pack crasher & take a lot of big pack marks. He's more an accumulator who relies on a great kick. ...Fritsch probably plays taller than both although he is not as tall physically.
  8. He plays tall though & should cover that 3rd forward role like a Lynch or Gunston, not as tall but just a bit better in the air I think. Much better bet the Hannan.
  9. We've found the ideal 3rd tall in Fritsch, just need to keep him there now. It's the first tall we have an issue with and this is where Weid needs to step up. He's at an age where he either shows it or is a bust.
  10. Looking at his highlights package Gould is an exceptional kick, has good speed across the ground and is strong around the ball and in the air. Does young have these attributes beside his kicking ability?
  11. They went relatively cheaply because they are not any better than what we already have. Just because we might be needing a key forward, there's no point unless we are going to upgrade. Cameron wasn't on the table, nor was Gunston or Brown. We had a shot at Elliot and came up short. Pity as he was the only really decent forward on offer.
  12. That's a pity, there's not much if anything coming up to replace him unfortunately. The draft cupboard for AFL media people who actually do their homework is not filled with good prospects. Ex players are trying to out do each other with ridiculous comments to grab headlines and keep them relevant.

I wonder if we can get some upgraded picks if we don't want to take him? We can't just give Carlton a free hit... Pick 9 would be overs but maybe they spit that with Geelong for 14 & 17 and give us one of those... Give us something back and he's all yours...
  14. They have nothing more to offer us...player trades are finished & they've given us their best pick options which we've turned down for good reason. Can't see any reason why we won't go to the draft with these picks unless we can turn pick 3 into 2 picks in this years first round...
  15. Looks like we're taking 3 & 8 to the draft...
  16. I would try him in the small defender role to see if he can take over from Nev in the longer term.
  17. Makes sense to me that we had a specific target wanting 2 picks in the top 10. Kemp is the logical one.
  18. How are the points looking now ' @Lord Nev'???

I agree 'Chazz', he's got this year or he's a bust. Many already see him as a bust already but I will give him one more year. The time is now or never for Weid...

No one is saying we've got it covered... ...but we need more than Bruce. I think we will go into next season with Fritsch now being a lot more important as a forward. He can step up as he did in the later part of season 2019. We desperately need Weid to take it to the next level though if we are to be a real threat. If he can't then we have to land a quality KPF... We're only playing around the edges with the likes of Bruce or Jenkins.

Bruce is something we already have in Tommy Mac... I can see why we are not interested. We need to find or develop a class option and at the moment that's Weid unless someone else bobs up. It 'aint Bruce or Jenkins
  22. He definitely knows how to hunt the ball, just goes to all the right places to find it when playing through the middle. Runs good lines & that stuff is hard to teach. Setups can be taught over time.
  23. Not now 'Earl'...they aren't the Hawks of old. Frawley and Stratton closer to the end. Hardwick & Sicily good younger players. ...but they don't have the razor sharp kicking they had before, Birchall the last of their great kicks from the back half gone. They may push Burgoyne back but truthfully he's gone at least one season too many. It's a bit of a ragged bunch and Frost only adds to that mix.
  24. TMac would probably get us a 2nd rounder, definitely not a first. I wouldn't think Wright would be worth any more.
