  1. I would have thought this would be reason whey the government won't allow crowds at games, at least here in Victoria. Can you imagine the crowds trying to get in to the grounds & get to the grounds? good luck with social distancing.
  2. Can't see it happening. I wouldn't even bet on the season finishing yet... The next month will tell the story.
  3. A major error 'Jim', agree with you there. Not sure about the pinpoint passes, he's often bombing to no one, nowhere...a team disease.
  4. Everyone operates from some level of self interest. I would say he has also had the game at heart...on the whole he has been & is good for the game.
  5. I guess I'm one of the non believers...I think it will be a miracle if we get 17 rounds of footy let alone any crowds. I'm more than happy to be proven wrong. ...but at the moment I think we may be in a fools paradise.
  6. Premature I would think... ...and how would they decide who gets into the games & where do they sit. One in, all in or one out, all out...I reckon.
  7. Will Foxtel exist in 2017?
  8. We're closer than Hawthorn with current lists...
  9. They were at home, quick 20 or 30 minute drive, have a cold one out of their own fridge and relax... We were stuck over the other side of the country, states were closing borders and players had nothing but uncertainty. It had an impact. We should never had to go over in the first place, round one was AFL folly...
  10. That's a strange thing to say 'Nelo'... Drugs can be the cause of the mental issues and no doubt staying off them would be an enormous help. ...but quite often it is people with pre existing mental issues self medicating that go down this rabbit hole. Once in the cycle it's a difficult one to break, it's not as simple as just walking away.
  11. We were an established club that thought the good times would go on for ever. Arrogance is a fatal disease. Other clubs got the jump on us and we've never recovered. Been playing catch up since then...
  12. Whilst not a great Molony fan I think the reason they put him up for trade is they had plenty of his type of player. They needed Ottens, as they do again need an Ottens type. I don't think it had anything to do with wanting Moloney out.
  13. Playing any games at the back end of the season will be a miracle. We might get through to June 11, a little like we scrapped through to the first round but all bets are off after that. If they're relying on player discipline for 5 months as part of the formula then we have no hope. ...but a 2nd wave will finish things off before we get to that.
  14. The culture question is an interesting one. I'm not sure the partying and drug binges are an issue as far as winning games of football is concerned. West Coast are a prime example of that. The current top 4 teams are also renowned. Clubs, the AFL and fans will turn a blind eye if you're winning... However as far as beyond football goes a few will fall by the wayside...it's sad but it also mirrors society.
  15. He has in his own state... He has his own people to think about....why should he bend over for the AFL?
  16. They will be lucky to get through the season. It's coming into winter here and that's a time when respiratory viruses really kick in... We could be far from on the downhill side of this one. I'm with you, I want to see how the next month plays out.
  17. I agree with him... The AFL talk a level playing field. Then they need to create a hub in a neutral region with all clubs in it together. Personally though I don't see the season being completed... No, I don't think he sees football as being his major objective even though he's had a shot at the AFL. He's thinking of the health and wellbeing of his citizens over the AFL. Good for him. I mean who would trust a bunch of footballers to abide by the rules????
  18. This argument is a furphy... Given there has been no live sport on TV for a while even a Casey v Frankston game would rate through the roof.
  19. Will draw a huge sellout crowd at the 'G'...
  20. They've shown they can't be trusted...players and club/s
  21. Might be a book in that one 'Martian'... I'm part of a boomer generation that is partly maybe majorly responsible for it. The kids that followed have learnt from a pretty selfish bunch. We've been lucky to not be involved in world wars and major downturns. Maybe the cold war had a different impact. Go for it, you might not be here tomorrow. The rise of American culture and it's self help, narcissism. The internet and the BS attached. So many things, just throwing out thoughts from the top of my head. ...but we're not the same as the people of 1918. Just look at how so many were out and about crowding shopping centres yesterday. It was all about them and screw everyone else.
  22. Different world now...our culture is a lot more self centred and selfish than it was in 1918.
  23. Not picks but should definitely be points. A fine would be counterproductive in the current environment. A one game penalty would be right.
  24. The question should have be phrased differently I guess from the start. Best and Favourite are 2 different things. To me Lyon was probably best in this time period but he's most definitely not my favourite.
