  1. Let's hope he's here for at least a medium term of 3 years plus. He has a history of moving around to further his career. Perhaps it's time to settle down and get the job done at Melbourne.
  2. Thanks 'steve', I happen to agree with you on many of these points. I've posted elsewhere that the Prelim should have been a big wake up call and as you've shown the writing was on the wall even earlier. Let's hope Goodwin has received the message loud and clear this year otherwise we're in for a world of pain next year.
  3. I think you might be overrating Tommy a bit there 'Patches'...
  4. Looks like we are being done over again... This and the PP to GC. Along with the womens footy etc......
  5. Not sure on this but maybe someone can confirm. With the current zones that have been put in place by the AFL Darwin is currently not zoned to any club. A lot of the big clubs are wrangling for it, for obvious reasons. I would think we would/should be negotiating it as part of our future agreement. We are the club putting in the effort so we should get some tangible benefit for doing the work.
  6. Ok 'steve' what would your plan be to regenerate the club from here on? Do you think it's a one year task or might take a few? Targeted players, coaching, FD, committee, board, CEO. Basically if you were the benevolent dictator at the MFC what would you do? ...be realistic in the targets and how we can get them to the club unlike some with a scattergun approach.
  7. I'm not having a crack at him at all, I'm having a fair crack at the board who didn't carry out their responsibilities. ...and no I'm not having a go at Jimmy now either but he shouldn't have been in a position to make key decisions given the precarious position he was in with his health. How could he possibly have been thinking clearly. No, the inaction of that board set us back years and I still can't forgive them for it.
  8. I actually blame the board for this...it was their job to oversee the club & ensure it was run properly. They should have stepped up and stepped in. There is no way a professional outfit would have someone without any experience review & make recommendations on it's operations. Lyon should have told thanks but no thanks...
  9. Was last year the aberration? No. I think Garry used the wrong wording here. If we plot the rise of the club since PJ & Roos took the helm then last year was a logical result not an aberration. Is this year the aberration? Who knows, it's way too early to tell. If we make finals next year then it would appear to be. I think Glen used the wrong wording here also. All I know is this year has been poor for a myriad of reasons. Injury is one but I don't buy it as the reason. Let's hope we can get back on track & we see this year as the aberration we had to have...
  10. So....is Garry Lyon really 'SWYL'????? ....or is 'SWYL' really Garry Lyon???? Has anyone seen them in the same room together????
  11. No, but you do lose your legs. Lewis was good value in the role he played yesterday but at crucial times he still went to ground rather than keep his feet. For a champion player that's always a sign that the end is near. He knows that and will finish a fine career at the end of this season.
  12. Mustn't be any good teams playing this year 'Mydee'...
  13. I appreciate what Roos did at the club...I appreciate what PJ did a lot more. ...but honestly 'bb', the only thing that Roos is really passionate about is himself. The Carlton move is a smart one for him, he knows they are on the way up now and he can hitch a ride and add to the aura that surrounds him. The Sundance Kid rides again...
  14. I thought he left us with the job unfinished but there you go...
  15. Yep...and we're not even flat track bullies.
  16. Oliver tackles last week 6 week before 11... I think he's keeping up his end of the bargain here. He could run back defensively more though, he gets caught out on the counter punch a bit...
  17. Not really... The way the AFL have worded their criteria for the PP opens it up for the Saints to at least think about it. It's not injuries as such that they are citing but the situations with one player maybe forced into retirement with heart problems, another with concussion issues and still another with ongoing mental problems. They have been unfortunate losing the 3 players like this. ...but I think this has been drummed up by Nick & Gary this morning and nothing much will come of it. A bit of a media beat up...who would have thought?
  18. The right moves over the break and we will bounce back up and contend. For a lot of the negatives (constructive criticisms) I've posted about this season I still think we have the foundations of a very good team. Some good trading, drafting, moves and attitude adjustments in the FD/playing group along with a bit of luck and we're as good a chance as any. Remember the Cats were finished after we cleaned them up in the final last season and look how they've bounced back.
  19. When Trac takes his shots he's such a damaging player. On Sunday he went beck to this rubbish... Maybe the disconnect Goody is talking about is actually in the FD or between the FD and players rather than the midfield/forward connection.
  20. That's the stupidity of the rule...you get an official warning for the first infringement but no free kick against.
  21. Jordon will be... Bedford needs to get to the right spots. I'm not sure you learn that.
  22. Not today 'joeboy', his worst in a while. Thought he was one of our better players...saved a couple of certain goals & generally used the ball well. A few weeks back when he copped a knock early was his worst game...you knew something was wrong when he couldn't hit a target. Has done a job the last 2 weeks, Simpson last week & JJ today. Kept them quiet but does seem to be playing sore so may need a rest.
  23. I like the way he positions himself, just knows where to go and doesn't commit too early. I don't think it would hurt to give him a taste at senior level. I reckon he's the type of player that would thrive at the higher level.
  24. Really haven't shown much today. Jordon the best of our first year boys by a fair bit. A natural footballer who knows where to run and positions himself well...
  25. Jordon knows where to position himself to find the ball. His first Q is very similar to how he finished off tac cup last year. Developing nicely...
