Have receieved a response from the club about this and am happy enough that the rumour is rubbish. An unfortunate product of our past that we're so quick to reach for the pitchforks against Bartlett.

Brendon Goddard did his ACL in 2007, came back in round 3 of the 2008 season, then went All Australian in 2009 and 2010, starring in the 2010 drawn grand final. Lenny Hayes did his ACL in 2011, then came back in 2012 and won St Kilda's best and fairest. Joel Selwood had four knee operations in the space of two years before even playing a game for Geelong (not sure he ever did his ACL though). 4 x All Australian, 3 x Premiership player. Alan Didak partially tore his ACL in 2005, then came back and won Collingwood's best and fairest in 2006. Christian Petracca tore his ACL in the 2015 pre-season before going on to win 2016's rising star medal and playing a key role in Melbourne's first final appearance in 10 years.

Looks like it's going no further than 3aw. Would prefer the club say something, but if it's just rumours on a single radio station then I guess no harm done. I hate this destabilising crap with twisted facts and no good sources. I was another one in the camp of being stoked that PJ decided to stay on another year. If he's keen to stay longer then there's no person I'd prefer in the position, but every year should feel like a bonus. He said from the start this was short term and I'm yet to hear him say otherwise.

Not having a go at you, mate. Always find your posts well reasoned and insightful. Just playing on Saty's post from before that anyone critiquing a player is a hero unless we go to training and tell them in person. Which is silly.

Just don't go discussing any of the players' flaws if you're not prepared to let them know personally. You hero.
