would have loved to be there today for Greenie's last. For me he is the last of the Daniher brigade and better times as far as the club was performing. The end of an era.

Jai Sheehan and Jack Fitzpatrick.
Norm Smith's Curse replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Ive seen Davis play a few times and he looked ok to me. Bigger bodied than many of the up-and-comers on our list. Jai you rarely hear about on these forums and it surprises me because he has shown a bit at Casey. -
But using that argument, the club and the sport are based on the passion of the members who are emotionally invested. If you burn a supporter base you better expect some pretty unkind and emotional responses. I dont think anyone here is claiming they wouldnt take the job or the coin. they are complaining about how it was done and they are complaining because the members are what runs the club - the sport is run on the emotional attachment of the supporters.

People are really confusing the issues with this one. First issue: Scully's dad signed in February. His contract was INCLUDED in Scully Jnr's. This casts doubt on the suggestion that he had any changes of heart. Second issue: Scully allegedly lied to Jimmy's face by saying he wanted to stay and it was only through woman's intuition that Jimmy realised this. Third issue: Scully took a good financial deal - one that any of us would have taken. But this is a seperate issue from the fact that he lied and denied. Fourth issue: Scully told David Schwartz on SEN that he had not signed or agreed to go to GWS until the end of the season and he said to suggest otherwise was 'questioning his character and integrity' - shortly before hard evidence emerged that his Dad signed in Feb and Sheedy saying there was a verbal agreement earlier. Therefore he himself staked his integrity on the truth he was contending which was then proven false. Fifth issue: Scully told people that the reason he was leaving was that he had witnessed unprofessional behaviour during a trip to China, suggesting that he was too professional for the club. Sixth issue: Through luck, incompetance or just fate, he has not performed at GWS, spends most of his time outside the pack and is extraction big bucks at the moment for little bang. But my point is that issue six is just luck. We are lucky that this is the case, and it doesnt change any of the other issues Ive mentioned. He could be playing better than Dangerfield and then what would we be saying? But we should get over it and I think most of us are. But lets not confuse what happened. And lets prove him wrong through success rather than whinging.

I saw Aussie at the Darwin airport maybe back in 2007 or 08. And he was complaining about not wanting to go back to Melbourne (the city or the club) back then...

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JACK VINEY
Norm Smith's Curse replied to einstein251's topic in Melbourne Demons
Apparently the Viney deal is a 'done deal'. -
He can kick accurately which is unusual in the 2012 demons list.
-
Ridiculous comment as usual...

What exactly would Goddard offer the demons other than helping us get to the 100% salary cap peak? Dont get me wrong - great player at his best but I just cant see how he fits in a club that basically needs forwards, mids and players that can spread with speed.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JACK VINEY
Norm Smith's Curse replied to einstein251's topic in Melbourne Demons
Jack is worth a lot to the club. He is probably the best out and out midfielder in the likely first few rounds of the draft. He is loyal Demon. What's more he got more contested possessions than Beamer last weekend just quietly ... -
Contract discussions put on hold for eleven Demons
Norm Smith's Curse replied to DemonDave's topic in Melbourne Demons
Normally yes, but when your so far behind the standard you'd have to assume you couldnt really go wrong. Gysberts is going no where. has some improvement to do but he has too much untried potential. The mail doesnt seem good for Jurrah and from what I read on bigfooty Moloney has already told people he is leaving... Time will tell. -
2013 I see a year of development for Watts, Blease, Trenners and I think Tappscott will have a breakout game.

Lance Franklin a late withdrawal ... again
Norm Smith's Curse replied to Range Rover's topic in Melbourne Demons
Looks like it turned out to be bullsh!t -
I answered the vote on what I think will happen rather than my opinion. He has been selected, been playing relatively well in a poor side and even received cudos on the MFC website yesterday for stepping up his game - this means one of two things: 1. He is genuinely getting some support from the coaches. 2. he is being fattened up for a tasty trade. if it was the later you'd think you'd also be seeing Morton in the team as well to advertise him. Dare I say it my feeling is that Dunn gets a role and plays that role to his abilities and always seems to be trying hard - sometimes like he is the only player in the team giving it a crack. My inclination is that Neeld likes Dunn because he does what he is told. I could name 12+ players that will be gone before he is for mine. he wont be delisted either - he'll be a trade. I think he might pick up some interest.

Just heard it around the traps via the golf club contact.

Ill bet anyone a pint that Moloney wont be a Demon next year.

Lance Franklin a late withdrawal ... again
Norm Smith's Curse replied to Range Rover's topic in Melbourne Demons
Maybe its like tanking... -
How could any true blue demon cheer on Essendon ever for anything?
-
Jack Grimes has a lot of improvement left in him as well. Only just starting to get back to the level he has shown in the past. Trengove is obviously injured. These who will rise to the occasion because cream always rises to the top eventually. Jack Viney anyone? Maybe it will take 4 Jacks (not counting Fitz) to break the curse?

Collingwood v Casey Scorpions
Norm Smith's Curse replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
Anyone know how Jai Sheahan went? And as for jack - wow! Keep the lid on it fellas... -
One of the positives is to hear that we are going to be agressive and active in the draft and trade periods.
-
Have a look at him play at Casey. Might get there but battling now.Chris Knights looks very likely and Koby Stevens is often mentioned. Time will tell but Id like to pick up a lot of new talent as well.
-
Anyone else heard this rumour? That we are interested in this guy? I have no idea about him - unsigned? FA or UFA?
-
Interesting post but I agree that Lucas Cook is struggling to maintain his position in Casey and Davis is up and down - neither look likely to break into a side that itself isnt up to par. Some on your list are interesting potential pickups though. Cook replacing Clark?
