IMO Gawny stays out despite the 87 hit outs, Ports strength are they are very mobile and whilst their defence has been very shaky without Carlisle and Trengove I think with Dawes, Frawley and Pedersen as our tall/marking forwards we can cause them problems. A few good weeks of Blease showing form and finally a FD making them earn their spots. Michie may be considered as we are missing Cross and need to add to our midfield rotations because some of our boys need the break. Garland Dunn Jetta Howe Tmac Grimes Blease Tyson Vince Watts Frawley Kent Bail Dawes Pedersen Jamar NJones Viney Tapscott, Riley, Michie & MJones Tappy more than likely the sub, Pedersen to pinch hit in the ruck when Jamar needs a rest in the forward line. Outs: Mckenzie & Terlich

When I watched him against WA at Freo Oval he looked really polished but rather laconic, reminded me somewhat of a Jack Watts type in the way he seemed to just stroll through the game without really imposing himself. He reads the play very well and has good positional sense but I have some doubts on his intensity at the next level as when he went to a contest or to tackle an opponent I didn't see that absolute mongrel and desire to nail his opponent. On what I saw he is bigger than Watts with a body type which looks like it will build up easier. For mine he is no certainty to go top 10

Loved Barty, got the most out of himself but unfortunately let down by his body in the end. Had reinvented himself into a handy tagger and dogged determination was to be admired. 2006 seems so long ago when we had some quality older players and young Barty, Jones, Bate and Dunn all coming through looking good with the older wiser heads to support them. This was a formula we should have stayed with in 2010 instead of throwing the baby out with the bath water

Yes he is quality over quantity is not something Deeluded lives by I think it's time to block

Don't agree with improvement coming from newer players. They will play a part as we need to continue evolving (2010 taught us that lesson) but I see some of the players already on our list improving. When the likes of Viney, Tyson, Kent and JKH get more games under their belts they will improve. Despite your and other deelanders doubts Trenners getting his body right will be a big positive Decent preseasons into Garland and Salem will see improvement as will Hogan getting a good run under his belt. For to long we have held on for players to come good and whilst I disagree with others that Toumpas wont make it I believe the line has to be drawn through many others on our list who just haven't cut it and we can no longer wait and just need to bring new kids in. I am not sure on the contract status but for me time to put the lines through these boys unless they put together something special between now and seasons end Blease, Strauss, Tappy, Nicho, Evans, Terlich, Fitzptrick so those on top of Clark and Byrnes see 9 changes from the list allowing 4 to be drafted and 4 new players to be brough in directly. Tough calls to be made on Mckenzie unless he can add something to his game and if we bring in another ruckman Gawn needs to be looked at seriously as a trade option. A lot of work ahead after the final siren round 23 for our Footy department

We will win at least 1 more game after the bye which is well and truly needed. Crazy as it seems Meth Coast are gettable, they are a very ordinary at the moment, I watched Saturday nights game and it was very poor standard, Brissy will be better with Rockliff & Redden back in the side. I think it's time to throw Frawley forward again just for another hit up forward, so much of what we did on the weekend saw us bombing long and allowing Taylor, Mackie and Enright to take numerous uncontested marks before setting up their attacks from half back with quick ball movement which killed us along with turnovers. Tyson & Viney are looking fatigued and the week off will be beneficial to those boys. Hopefully Crossy will be back a couple of weeks after the bye so I think we can get back to playing where we were a month or so ago. So my take is we will win one we don't expect and drop one we expect to win

Don't want to sound like an apologist for Grimes he needs to improve but there are plenty of ordinary players in Top 8 sides always has been always will be. Dawson, Spanghar, Laidler, Clancee Pearce, Kane Mitchell, Cheney, Dell Olio, Tom Logan It's a lot easier to play with good players

Really despise comments like this about our players, show some respect in the way talk about players He is on an AFL list you are not and there is probably a good reason for that

Players to target at the end of the year

I would give up our first pick for him in a straight swap and that still wouldn't get the job done. They are both good but I see potentially a better addition in Crouch -

I have never forgot seeing that, made my blood boil at the time and live for the day when we rub his face in it -
Yes I'd love a win, but want to see the boys have a red hot crack, will be interested to see how we pull up from last week. Leave nothing out there boys never forget how they have treated us for the last 8 years and never forget James Kelly simulating a snoring sleeper when singing the song after beating us at Kardinia Park in 2009(I think it was) Go Dees

You are wrong there Machsy he was severely hampered in 2007 and knew he was leaving Meth Coast at the end of the season. He played the second half of that season under extreme duress as his team had another tilt at a flag. Had he been selfish he could have booked in early for surgery and hit the ground running pre-season with his new club. Furthermore he made sure Meth Coast got a good deal when he could have walked via the PSD. Whatever coin the Tigers wanted to throw at him Carlton would have matched and taken him with pick 2 in the PSD. Having said all that it's a no from me

Watching tonights game I hear about throwing money at Dangerfield yes great player but throw a big contract and a fair amount of cash at Crouch, 2nd week back from injury 2nd year player he is all class fantastic accumulator with clean hands, awareness in traffic and going to be a clearance king -

No seen him at WAFL several times superior fitness makes him look a little bit better than ordinary footballers List clogger and not AFL standard Move on -
Raise the draft age to 20/21 should be something worth considering IMO for a few reasons AFL have a lot less responsibility in looking out for players after football as they would come in at a decent age with some solid life experience Should be close to finishing a university course and or Trade A lot more mature and able to deal with moves away from home A lot more physically mature and able to deal with the demands of AFL football in terms of full time training and being able to cope with size of opponents Reduce speculative drafting in terms of providing the draftees with 3-4 years at WAFL/SANFL/VFL/NEAFL etc level which should provide clubs with plenty of time to have identified the players qualities and weaknesses Some food for thought

If they take it where do I sign
-
So one rising star nominee will change everything, you are fookin unbelievable
-
STMJ I saw him play against WA and did a write up about the game in the U 18 National Championship thread, I'd heard of his a speculative 2nd rounder prior to this and he really caught my eye that day when I actually went with the intention of seeing Brayshaw

have Sydney invested heavily or have the AFL invested heavily into these Academies. who invests in TAC cup if it is the AFL the argument of giving each club a zone academy could be argued WAFC who are the licence for both WA clubs put money back into development in WA but no first access to these players

But you said we had the worst midfield in the AFL, I believe Meth Coast have the worst midfield in the league you say we only run 5 deep in quality not many sides barring the absolute guns of the competition go beyond 5 deep. So if you make a statement back it up I will miss some here but off the top of my head the top liners in clubs midfields are Hawks - Lewis, Mitchell, Sewell, Hodge, Burgoyne, Hill, Smith Port - Boak, Polec, Wines, Grey, Ebert, Hartlett Swans - Hanneberry, Kennedy, Jack, Bird, Parker, Mcglynn,Mcveigh, Freo - Fyfe, Barlow, Mundy, Hill Pies - Pendelbery, Swan, Beams, Sidebottom Cats - Selwood, Kelly, Bartel, Stevie J, Stokes Roos - Harvey, Wells, Dal Santo, Zieball, Cunnington Suns - Ablett, Prestia, O'Meara, Bennell Crows - Thompson, Sloane, Dangerfield, Crouch Bombers - Goddard, Watson, Heppell, Zaharakis Meth Coast - Priddis Rosa Blues - Gibbs, Murphy, Judd Tigers - Cotchin, Martin (tank is a worry), Deledio Dogs - Boyd, Mcrae, Libba, Bontempelli, Dalhaus, Griffin Lions - Redden, Rockliff, Rich GWS - Treleoar, Shiel, Whitfield Saints - Stephen, Hayes,
