  1. That's carp, they were not cruising had they been, we would have done them quite easily. We are not a great side but we are hard to play against, we just kill games but maybe you are right and all the expert ex-players singing this same tune are wrong. They were very good at running hard and putting pressure on not allowing us any easy ball, they didn't mind flooding their defensive 50 either to prevent us switching the play holding the ball then delivering quickly inside 50 to space. Give some credit where it is due, Collingwood beat us by polish and having a bit more midfield depth than we did, Cross, Vince, Bail and Jetta were all given negating roles and all did well. That is why Pendlebury, Beams, Elliot and Lumumba weren't as effective as they usually were The better side won yes but they earned it
  2. I'll give Roosy the benefit of the doubt. In a very short space of time he has turned around the worse midfield and defence in the league. They had to be first cabs off the rank in turning us around. They will get it right. Watts Viney and not sure who the other was all missed very gettable shots in the first 10mins of the last quarter and JKH'S has nailed other set shots previously like the one he missed in the last. Plenty to work with
  3. 6.N.Jones - just pips Dunn and could have gone either way, Jones just battles all day willed himself into congestion coming out with the ball and worked for the entire game. 5. Dunn - gave away a fair amount in size to Cloke but came out on top with attitude, smart positioning and desire not to lose 4. Jetta - Elliott is very dangerous and Jetta clearly won this battle and presented options when coming out by running hard 3. Pedersen - continues to just provide options and battles, would like to see him maybe have faith in his kicking from 50m when the option provides 2.Vince - got towelled up in the first 15mins by Pendelbury but for mine was the better player over the 4quarters ran hard, tackled and is always doing the 1%ers 1.Watts - Jack is really working hard when he doesn't have the ball which is good to see, Roosy has really got into his head about never giving the ball away. Smart footballer in the making Unlucky - Bail yes for the uneducated he nullified Harry O's run and carry and whenever he was given the ball by the Pies Bail was onto him or to close for Harry to run. Gawn big Maxy was good today I thought he was lucky to hold his spot from last week but he had a good game
  4. Dawes leads very hard with purpose and marks at High Half Forward another hard leading forward will make a world of difference. Make no mistake though they(Pies) are a very well drilled defence. A lot of boys will have learnt a fair bit today such as Tyson, Salem,Viney & JKH on the lift in intensity and playing against sides who go hard for 120 mins Very decent foundations there for us
  5. Durdin they desperately need a few key position defenders and apparently are trying to turn Cam McCarthy(Pick 13/14 I think from last year) into one
  6. It will make for a very good last two weeks of the finals like 2004, 2005 & 2010. Although 04 & 05 for us as Dees were not good finals going straight out in elimination finals
  7. I couldn't attend WA vs SA on Saturday but attended last week WA vs Vic Metro(started a thread on the game) and was very keen to see how good Brayshaw was. As per my write up Petracca caught my eye, played across HF and also had runs through the middle. Looked a big bodied mid and applied good forward pressure, I love seeing players not only apply pressure but have that want to hurt people (legally) when they tackle or apply contact and he did this at every opportunity. I know not many had him in the first round/early second round but on what I saw last week will move up fairly quickly and whilst it's only one game he would fit in to our style which is what the Swans have of a number of players who can play several positions and rotate through the middle
  8. Really Nervous about this game, I have gone in the last years just hoping the boys didn't embarrass to such a tune the AFL says okay QB is done. The last 4-6 weeks we have shown dramatic improvement enough to suggest we have turned the corner, but I guess like the rest I am that scarred I still expect us to drop off. Would love a win, I'm at home sick as a dog and we all know how bad daytime TV can be so will be watching every minute. Go Dees
  9. Happy Birthday WYL, I hope the lads give you the perfect present.
  10. A case of a trade where everyone can win, we would have won with either trade and would have known no different. Brisbane managed to keep their best player, GWS got an upgrade to Pick 2 and get a kid who looks the goods. Finally we get Tyson who just has been better than I expected and Salem who looks polished, great foot skills and has footy smarts and nous. Trades don't always have to be about winners and losers
  11. Heard that and loved the follow up of trying to say it would assist the lower clubs, absolute carp it's all about players having more bargaining power. 10 years IMO if at all
  12. No surprise, depth and the kid has a red hot crack. Still think Roos will be targetting another ruckman for the handover from Jamar in 2016/17
  13. We wont try and expose them for height, we will go for some versatility and try and prevent their run from the back half, therefore Gawn makes way for Dawes, I think it's between Toumpas and Riley and Mckenzie will only come in if there is a specific run with role for him
  14. I was just about to reply that he is very much in the Rockliff mould, hard worker, accumulator without breakaway speed and could play TAC level as a forward probably even get by playing a key role due to his ferocious attack on the ball and clubs could make the mistake of overlooking him as an undersized kep position prospect
  15. Stuey if he hasn't left before now, I'd say we are fairly safe once we don't take him for granted
  16. A lot of teh talk about Port being a basket case related to their off field performance, the empty stands covered with sponsors tarp, the debt. They were competative on the field and despite losing to the young Suns and Gws in the Primus years they never really fell to the depth we were in at our worst
  17. I was at the game on Saturday and Jared Hardisty and Waterman were the most impressive of their mids, on Saturday's game I would be putting a line through taking Jarred Pickett in the first round, flashy with very low workrate
  18. I'd like to see a solid bit of training 3 to 4 games in the VFL and come in when he is ready so would not think before late July for mine
  19. This is somewhat of a myth that Port turned their midfield around quickly, I would argue it has been a work in progress for some years in 2007 that made the GF on the back of some older boys left over from the 2004 flag and since then they have drafted very well and the likes of Kane Cornes have grown from young understudies to seasoned veterans 2006 - they had drafted Grey & Boak (pretty sure Boak played in 07 GF), 2007 Lobbe was drafted and took some time to mature into the version we have had since late 2012 to current 2008 Hartlett was drafted 2009 Andrew Moore no world beater but decent depth 2010 - Nothing 2011 - Chad Wingard & Ebert was traded in at the end of the season Meth Coast 2012 - Ollie Wines So I would think this is a steady building of the list and is they continue with this formula with constant turnover they will continue to have a decent midfield
  20. So why do we conform and wear white, red and blue that is us I am very big on these always being our colours, Home games (barring indigenous/heritage round) our traditional strip is a must but IAH for the life of me I am struggling to see any opposition where as an away game if our traditional strip clashes that a predominantly red strip would clash
  21. Lets get some matters cleared up on this, Trevor Nesbit is cast from the same mould as the fat controller and somewhat like Schwaby in the all important brand and how the club appeals to the supporters/coterie. I would suggest Nesbitts task in a two horse town was somewhat easier than Schwabs but at the time of Meth Coast falling into media storm with Kerr's Ketamine and prescription matter, Gardy leaving the scene of an accident and Cousins being stripped of the captaincy for other matters they needed a good news story. Fast forward to 2008/09 when their club was in free fall after Cousins ban and they had thousands in uproar at them for deserting their favourite son in Cousins, lets give our new media circus recruit Nic Nat the number 9 it will all be good and they will forget Ben in time, it worked. Juddy was a reluctant captain and those in the know in Perth are aware it was used by the board as some kind of leverage to try and have Judd commit to the club for another contract and to this day is still used by Meth Coast fans as a swipe at Judd as having no morals for being a captain who they believe deserted a sinking ship. And as for the comment in the club that gave him a flag, FMD I would argue that he was the most vital cog in that club getting the final piece to their jigsaw in being able to make a flag achievable. Juddy played the entire last 2/3rd's of 2007 debilitated with a groin injury knowing he was leaving at years end and he gave everything right to the final loss in extra time to the Pies, I would say he gave everything to that club and whilst he ended up choosing Carlton for the money he was always going back to Melbourne
  22. Argue all you like he is a Meth Coast untouchable and wont be put up for trade, if you ask them about releasing Frenchy what they would want to let him go is not worth it
  23. No, unique player but seen his best days and will not leave WA
  24. That may have been true pre Malthouse but certainly not the case now and part of the reason why Sumich was not given the job, they wanted a fresh change. Judge a West Aussie boy was highly disliked by the player group and player power won out and Nesbitt did not listen to Judgey warning of off field problems with experimentation so to speak with their young playing group. Judge was treated very badly in the end by Meth Coast, speak to him about it now and he has a lot of animosity towards the club. You are right to say they are only interested in success as was well and truly proven by putting a flag ahead of player welfare.
  25. They only exist because of us that is enough
