Resilience - MFC Players V MFC Supporters (Merged Thread)
Pennant St Dee replied to baysidedave's topic in Melbourne Demons
Basically we are negative But FMD we have good reason to be after what we have all been through Improvement, Yes But still to many horror days and absolute pathetic performances with no intensity Which I as a supporter just can't tolerate -
Some serious questions asked about Paul Roos ...

Heading to Subiaco on Sunday and expecting the mother of all floggings the Dockers whilst losing on the weekend came out firing in the first quarter as they did in their recent game against the Saints, god help us if we aren't switched on from the Start -
They were the reigning Premier and they got the pick they were supposed to get as per the rules based on Free Agency length and value of contract. He was in Band 1 as was Frawley, both teams were given a Pick straight after their first round picks in those drafts. That makes sense and is how equalisation is supposed to work If it wasn't like that the Top sides would be offloading a quality player every season to get a pick in the Top 5

I'm guessing by your comments with regard to this thread especially with regard to the Doggies combined with your favourite players you weren't around in the 80's (or old enough) to see how bad we really were for a while and in 86 & for the first half of 87 we were treading water. Then bingo -

FFS The Crown Paladium has them all reserved for the AFL clubs, you can move your dates dependent upon your season and they would start locking some teams in when it is clear they will not make finals -

Trenners like Scully were both very very good as debutants in 2010 and both RS nominees that season -

Pretty sure we looked back in 1986 at the Barrassi era as a fail Things change very quickly in footy -
Worth a look and a yes from me at the right price

Narrowing down the draft - Dees to pick between 3 mids?
Pennant St Dee replied to Young Blood's topic in Melbourne Demons
My thoughts exactly and maybe we could trade down our pick to get him, although his finish of late may push him into the Top 10 -

Hrovat is not a big mid nor does he have fantastic outside run which we need Dont rate Grimley as any better than what we already have, in fact think Pedersen is far better as a Ruck/Forward type Toumpas straight swap for Lynch aint a hope of that happening Suckling when he moves from Hawks will not be anything special without the guns around him, think along the lines of the Malceski scenario -

Doubt Francis will go beyond Pick 3 Balic over Parish for mine -
I have been a no for a long time, but have heard some good reports about him lately and being mentored by the right people. Wouldn't trust him back in WA but FMD we desperately need outside speed, quality and quick ball movement and a player like him to take the game on. If the FD want to back themselves for the right price I will back them but there would need to be certain KPI''S and conditions in his contract

Top 10: IMO 1: Vince 2: Viney 3: TMac 4: N.Jones 5: Cross 6: Hogan 7: Brayshaw 8: Watts 9: Dunn 10:Vandenburg -
Doesn't have the endurance to run with the Dogs quicks and doesn't work two ways, say what you like about Bail and Matty Jones but if they are given a negating task to run with a Dogs quick they will do it, they don't give us much teh other way but needs to be considered. My ins were Salem and Vandenburg for Lumumba and Michie Lumumba had a bad game and has not had a great year, Michie was not bad but different game against the Dogs and at Etihad makes it even more difficult. Having thought about it a bit more don't be surprised to see Bail come into consideration to play as a negating forward and run with Matty Boyd off half back
-
and they would still be 18th without Boyd, Morris, Crameri and Picken with an even younger average age. but it would be a massive change to their side and their ability to take the heat off the kids
-
Doggies at Etihad so seriosly have to have runners and players who are going to apply pressure over 4 quarters. Matty Jones stays was decent today, I think Lumumba is seriously under the pump runs into trouble and his disposal is terrible, unless he can break the lines and deliver it in quickly to Hogan and Dawes he has no use in the team. Michie will come under the microscope, he wasn't terrible but don't think the Etihad track will suit. Jetta Dunn Garland Howe Tmac Salem Watts Viney Cross Brayshaw Dawes Vince Garlett Hogan ANB Gawn, Tyson, N.Jones I/C M.Jones, Grimes, Harmes & Vandenburg if fit

Demonland Player of the Year - Round 19
Pennant St Dee replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
6.Dawes - one of our leaders who really stood up today and was great with his leads, pressure and could easily have grabbed 5 5.Hogan - as above and for the love of god just get the 10-12 year deal done just like was done for Alistair Lynch, he is the one we have been waiting for 4.Viney - continued his impressive form, and was our best mid who helped turn the game 3.Tyson - assisted Viney greatly and showed what he can do, please god a unninterupted preseason beckons for him 2.Howe - was our best defender IMO played the intercept role and set up rebound from half back 1.Gawn - improving all year and was good against the leagues No 1 ruckman -

Wouldn't go anywhere near Lycett, he is playing shocking footy in the WAFL and is very slow Also has off field issues which make him a no go was sent off for a few weeks for a "religous retreat" FMD as if anyone is buying that one -

I really like Myers and think he would be good for our list and the strong midfield we are trying to build long term. The bigger bodied sides and midfields stand up in September when it matters. As others have said his injury history is a concern Zaharakis would be fantastic with his run and carry and a big improve for our midfield Carlisle I really rate as a CHB Those three are good targets at the right price and dependent on the WADA outcome (Obvioulsy Zaharakis is excluded from this) -
Sandi is 30 and has been a Premier Ruckman for the last 8 seasons. Just up to Gawny and the conditioners to manage him correctly
-
I think he will show faith in he club who showed faith in him

If we beat North I will ....
Pennant St Dee replied to Bleeds_Red_&_Blue's topic in Melbourne Demons
Finally believe we have improved by winning two in a row and neither of those wins coming against a bottom 4 side or a side which is a new expansion side. I will also look keenly how the side goes the following week against the Doggies
