ffs keep living in the past WYL get this into your head I repeat again we are into our second year under this new FD and I am very happy with the players they have picked up Inept what a fookin joke of a comment Salem, Tyson, Brayshaw, ANB, Vandenburg and having seen Petracca last year I am looking forward to seeing him. Think before you type

What does it say the Giants are very much up and coming and will end with either 11 or 12 wins for the season, They will be favourites every time we play them over the next few years The AFL'S baby and the draft riches they were given have seen the creation of what will be a very powerful team from 2017 and beyond

Supporters to arrive at Quarter Time
Pennant St Dee replied to waynewussell's topic in Melbourne Demons
FFS Farewell game for Crossy and possibly Russian, time for respect not making a silly statement. First 10 mins of the second quarter was the issue last week not the first, effort was there in the first just not the execution of the plan -
Cheers Crossy you have been great for our club and your professionalism showed the younger brigade what is required and what we have lacked for so long I hope you remain in some capacity with the Dees and my only regret is we didn't get hold of you at a younger age All the best to you and your family in the future

I agree with these two points especially the second one which I have no doubt is and will occur The first point with regard to game day strategies under Roos I agree with because of his game plan being very much set and the Sydney side new it inside out and how to make minor changes during game day, what we lack are the Kirks, O'Keefes, Mcveighs and Halls who were absolute experienced on field leaders. It has been a big issue with us for some time now

Listen I am going to bed early start tomorrow but again reread what I said forget about the past decade The sooner you realise we are nearly 2 years in, you will be in a better place mentally 4th grade amos get over yourself, lets not exagerate it only makes your argument worse. I am done talking football with you its a pointless exercise

When did I say you had to accept it. We haven't been improving for 9 years nobody thinks that, well they shouldn't In 2010 I thought we were improving and we were, some very bad decisions by those who shouldn't have been making them had massive implications on our club from the end of 2010 & through 2011. 2012 & 2013 we all know about and that set this club back so far it isn't remotely funny I am not trying to convince myself of anything I am realistic and this is where we are at. We are into our second season of our rebuild, forget about the previous ones they were not done correctly and this is what you end up with. We are now at where we were around 2011, what we wont do under this FD or under PJ is make the mistakes of the previous board and FD. The decision on players in the past 2 off seasons have shown me that with the players we have targetted and who we have brought in. So when I say we have improved I base that on the team we were under Neeld and the team Roos inherited in 2014, I do not base that on the side of 2007. I also look at the season as a whole when talking about improvement We now have a leading ruckman with Gawn less than 40 games into a career who is showing rapid growth and ability to mix it with the best Hogan still very raw but our first forward to kick 40 goals in a season since what 2010/11, and he has had very little support against the leagues best tall defenders. We have him and he is one of these genuine stars who are game changers Garlett another forward closing in on 40 goals, I think our entire forward line of 2012-13 struggled to do that Brayshaw just a gun and a leader 20 games into a career and showing signs of tiring as many other 1st year players that age have year after year Viney leadership and developing the run with part of his game along with his hardness at the ball Nate Jones has had a down year and our midfield is performing better than it has in the last 3 years, youngsters must be stepping up TMac has petered out as the season went on but there was plenty to like about his form in the first part of the year Salem looked good early in the season and showed yesterday despite being horribly underdone the class and hardness he possess Vince up until the last 3 weeks probably one of the best run with mids in the AFL had a greta season Jetta - out the door under the previous coaching regime now look at him, ultra consistent over the last two seasons ANB - has shown enough IMO to suggest he will be a long term player in our side Vanders - one of the finds of the season gives us great hardness around the clearances and how we have missed him since he went down with injury Kent - I have been a critic of him not getting the best out of himself but until he went down with injury was showing great form and pace to really worry opposition sides Can't say I have seen a season's end in the last few years with as much as that to look back on

Oh jesus I didn't notice that I sat there for 3 hours and that all happened whilst I was reading my book. You embarrass yourself every time you talk about football, one day you will realise we are tired of your crap, it serves no purpose, you go on about the last 50 years and that is precisely what Roos was referring to last week but you are to dumb to realise that, his comment in his post match press conferences of late about not caring about what caused the issues of the past are directed at you and others like you. He has been here for 2 years and if you were expecting us to jump up into the 8 based on the squad we had(whilst it it wouldn't surprise me) it again shows how you put unrealistic timeframes on our side getting to where we need to be. I watched yesterday WYL I was there the 10 minutes we went asleep was at the start of the second quarter,it had nothing to do with the first five goals Re read my post and try and read it with a view on football what I said about the differences in the two sides with regard to experience across the board, if you understand footy and actually watch the game you will see exactly what I mean and try this watch it with the sound off and concentrate on the play and movement away from the ball you will see exactly where the ten minutes is

FFS and that is it to you really it's all black and white, did you watch the game or are you making that assessment having occasionally checked on the scores you think that explains the game, do you really think you can compare yesterdays effort with the previous two weeks. By your account Adelaide kicked 9 and took the foot of the pedal and allowed Meth Coast to kick the next 5 that must be how it works, and why did Collingwood take their foot of the pedal on Friday against the Cats We dropped our heads yesterday and the structure went out the window for about 10 mins that is what killed us. The plan was the right plan in the first quarter what killed it was some turnovers and poor delivery inside 50m and being overrun in time on by a more experienced and stronger team (it happens to all sides with so many players limited on experience) The pressure was there as was the effort any lack of endeavour by our players similar to the last fortnight would have seen a 20 goal loss. Once the boys went back to turning the game into an arm wrestle and trusting the plan they held their own, this was very much a game of two sides who play similar styles but one is currently far superior with their experience in terms of games played, executing the plan and being able to cover the ground both ways which is required. Their games average yesterday would have been far superior to ours and it played a massive part in the outcome, they made better decisions which resulted in less turn overs. We turned the game into a scrappy affair and held our own, our players battled hard throughout and the fact you could not see that says more about you Am I happy with the loss - No Do I think we are still a long way off - yes the list still needs turning over Would I like us to be ahead of where we currently are - yes Can I fault the boys effort yesterday - no for the most part they held their own and gave all they had Have we improved - yes we have been hurt badly by injury to key players and what we now have is players who were in 2012-14 part of our regular 22 are now again getting games because that is where we are at in terms of our depth You call many of us for accepting mediocrity, we all as Dees fans want the same but you set unrealistic timeframes to what your expectations are and when we should reach our goals

Delistings/trades at end of the season
Pennant St Dee replied to Northern Summer's topic in Melbourne Demons
3 out of those 5 would improve us nicely -
He doesn't run hard enough though Bobby, I watched him fairly closely yesterday he uses the ball fairly well but he lacks urgency and doesn't have the ability(or more to the point the want) to run hard and really push himself. I would say this could be a reason why he struggled to get a game in Ports side On the incident with DeBoer people are talking about look at the clip again when Mayne marks that ball De boer goes hard to the open 50m, Newton is caught ball watching and jogging, they were even when Mayne marks and looks inside to go long and in board 50m

Delistings/trades at end of the season
Pennant St Dee replied to Northern Summer's topic in Melbourne Demons
Pedersen whilst not a B grader does fill this role well and has been missed he would have been very handy giving Gawn a chop out as he tired during games. Pedersen is only a temporary fix until a better option comes along I think we have other priorities as you say and the good ball deliverers off the backline are a must If we half our turnovers that will immediately equate to more wins -
Will the Big Russian get a farewell game?
Pennant St Dee replied to The Lobster Effect's topic in Melbourne Demons

Why what is your issue, that Garland and Jetta who shared duties on him weren't tight enough, this is a very simplistic view Pearce has acres of space so Garland and Jetta aren't doing there jobs properly Pearce is a cheat and a downhill skier The problem we have is our players run off (which they should) when we are in possession to provide options to team mates and are committed Poor disposal yesterday in our back half saw Pearce getting 2 goals directly from cheating and not running with his opponent shocking turnovers saw him free Pearce has been caught out in pressure games by playing this way, he is a liability in finals and he gets found out big time against good sides who catch you on the break, It's to easy to see Pearce in space and blame his direct opponent

Are Meth Coast really that quick the last two years before this season they looked very slow and were heavily criticized. They can run hard but no real absolute speedy linebreakers. They have got games into plenty of players over the last few years and the likes of Masten, Cripps, Shepherd, Mcginnity, Hutchings and other ordinary players are high on confidence and their disposals have improved dramatically. Meth Coast move the ball quickly and get it into their forwards at pace which always leaves defences vulnerable. Speed isn't just about leg speed, the ball moves a lot quicker than any player will

Don't think they will take him in the Top 4 even if they and the Lions get first round FA Compensation I think they will go 1.Schache 2.Weitering 3.Francis 4.Parish

Cheers Chaser and Davos, I said earlier on in the year there was just something I liked about Curnow as that strong mid/forward, and I thought we would be able to trade down our pick and get him. Not sure that will happen now with Brissy and Carlton looking like they may get a few FA compensation picks. Looking long term toward 2017/18 I think a midfield which you could rotate several boys between stints on ball half forward/half back like Viney, Brayshaw, Petracca, Salem, Vandenburg, Kent, ANB, Tyson with a couple of others we pick up next year will be a very good core to build off. Jones and Vince will be getting close to the end after 2017/18 but by then the baton should be handed over

Outs: Newton - he is lazy not just that chase down on De Boer he wasn't going to get there but throughout the game I noticed he lacks 2 way running Spencer - concussed Matt Jones - the disposal is really getting beyond a joke you only stay if there is a run with roll on one of the GWS runners Nate Jones - injured Ins: Kent - desperately need some line breaking speed Brayshaw - should be better for the week off and has shown enough Jamar - yes he has earnt the right of a farewell game IMO Lumumba - very stagnant off half back today and more run needed if he isn't right Harmes comes back in

DEMONLAND PLAYER OF THE YEAR - Round 22
Pennant St Dee replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
6.Viney - thank god we have this kid bleeds red and blue went hard all day, was at the bottom of everything and one of our very few who can and will gut run 5.Cross - like Viney just works and wills himself through the pain barrier, I think he stays on as depth and a culture builder 4.Gawn - did really well against a very powerful ruck division 3.Salem - was really treading on egg shells and looked under done (and believe me it was warm there) but kept going and showed class by foot 2.Grimes - credit to you today Jack was one of our best performers from the time he came on 1.Dunn - wasn't great early and looked like he was going to be on the end of a belting but Dunny played with some heart and desperation throughout -
Well done Jonesy I will be there to see you reach the milestone as I was in your second and last final back in 06 (seems a lifetime ago). I just hope the boys lift for you today and give you the performance your services to the club deserve All the best Chunk
