  1. Yes to both doing a proper rebuild this time.
  2. Hindsight is wonderful but you need to look back a lot further than you are. Hawks dynasty was built on the 2001 and 04 drafts and topped up with Burgoyne Lake Hale and Mcevoy. Cats was the 99 and 2001 drafts. We are still paying for the poor drafting in the first 12 years of the noughties which killed our depth. Don't underestimate the importance of having a large amount of 8 to 10 + year AFL hardened players on your list Eagles - Kennedy Darling Shuey Hurn Yeo Hutchings Vardy Masten Schofield Reddan Shepherd Gaff Cripps and Jetta. Some of those players are very ordinary but have the bodies and experience to come in and fill a role allowing the youngster to flourish. It's why you see sides like Eagles Cats Hawks Swans and Pies bounce back so quickly after 2 to 3 years out of contention. The continous development of their lists and evolution of player depth every year. We are about 5 years into building what takes 8 to 10 to build into a long term powerhouse. That is why the injury list and drop off in form of experience is exposing our depth
  3. Round 3 2006 we lost to the Crows on the Gold Coast due to the G being used for the Commonwealth Games. From memory we went down in a close one and showed enough to have turned the corner. We lost Round 1 to Carlton the day before my wife went into labor with our first child. I can tell you now we were better in Rd 3 2006 against the eventual minor premiers than we were Friday night
  4. Sorry DD haven't got much info on Kobe and with increased parent sports duties dont get to see as many junior games as I used to or would like to. I speak with some from junior development in the Peel region. They say he shows flashes of great talent but not consistently, I think Kobe is only 16 going on 17. He's not talked about among the up and comers in that age bracket and not part of Peel Thunder Colts squad. I've seen big developments in kids in the 17 to 18 age brackets so you never know but I think at this stage it's a long shot.
  5. Agree agree & agree Ball moves quicker than any player ive seen and it comes back even quicker when your players are committed and poor disposal turns it over. We turned it around last season when we started hitting targets moving forward instead of Bombing aimlessly Whilst Levers out Lewis is still needed to marshal the backline and coach on field.
  6. The Bog is long gone McQueen would be closed around 15 years. The redevelopment of Northbridge with apartments and new late night bars killed it off. Just sits there on Newcastle St vacant now.
  7. Apologies as I'm technically illiterate, but can a fellow Dlander run me through the process on blocking other users. There's one I need to put on ignore asap
  8. I hate to burst any bubbles but whilst it's not everything he didn't make State u/16s Academy this year. Taj Schofield son of Jarryd the best of the bunch who will head to SA next year and play with Woodville West Torrens
  9. You all missed the main one, playing kick to kick with your mates on the suburban grounds long after the game while your old man was knocking a few sherberts back in the clubrooms with his mates
  10. The 2019 fixture for MFC will be attractive to any corporates tossing up sponsoring an AFL side
  11. It tells you nothing have a look at the natural build of both of them. Totally different Trac was 10kg heavier than De Goey when drafted. He doesn't need to lose any more weight IMO he isn't going to be an endurance athlete. He's at best as HFF with occasional short bursts through the middle.
  12. I think you can add Viney, Melk and Hibberd to the list OD. Certainly not the side we were pre Roos
  13. Demonlanders need to realise if the troll is ignored and not fed it will go away. He or she must have an awfully sad life, trolling supporters pages for attention
  14. Why are Demonlanders continuing to feed the troll. Staggers me
  15. If they get 5 & 18 for Neale I expect the same for Hogan
  16. Pies did their due dilligence on Stevie J and subsequently pulled out of the trade based on the medical 2 years later Premiership and Norm Smith medallist, be nice for the same result
  17. Best of luck Dom, very important player to us when he first came on board. Hope it works out for him at North
  18. Beams contract was very much front ended, which is another reason why I think he should stay in Brissy. With regard to Hogan and May if we get May and give up pick 5 but keep pick 11 I'm happy. May will instantly improve our defence and yes Jesse will be missed but whilst it's a year early it is best to cash in now. For those expecting Freo to finish in the bottom 4 next season you just never know. Don't underestimate the massive home ground advantage and if they get a good run with injury they can easily win 10 to 12 games with Hogan B. Grey Hamling Wilson HB. Cerra Pearce S.Hill C. Banfield Fyfe B.Hill HF. Walters Hogan Mundy F. Grey Taberner Lobb R. Darcy, Blackeny, Brayshaw I/C Conca, Langdon, Hughes, Ryan, Ballantine, Sheridan, Cox Etc. Worst case scenario Jesse stays for another year when a lot can change
  19. No pick 5 pick 32, Langdon and next years second rounder. Port and Adelaide are desperate to move up the draft for the SA boys Pick 5 goes to Port for 11 & 12 11 & the second Rounder goes to the Suns for May
  20. Mundy was voted in when Pav moved on and my mail was the older players got that vote over the line. One year later as the list profile changed Fyfe was voted in and the players voted him in this year for a second time so he's doing something right. We shall see what happens next year
  21. Nothing new just Bell changing the culture Bennell is an exceptional talent and that is why they kept him so long even his WAFL glimpses show how much class he oozes. On talent he is an absolute game breaker think Dangerfield bursting out of congestion with elite disposal (unlike Danger) Bell knows like many others that the kid won't change he is like Ben Cousins in terms of wanting to have a decent social life whilst actually training really hard. 30 years ago he'd have gotten away with it. I actually think it is this trait which has caused the recurrence of his soft tissue injuries. Cousins was a freak but Bennell just isn't the same An absolute no from me
  22. Just to clarify re Fyfe he was voted in as captain by the playing group, like every club what supporters think of their captain has little relevance to the players
  23. What I know from some what I consider good reliable sources Meth Coast have always had an eye on Hogan but this current move may have forced their hand a year early Fremantle as is well known have constantly been monitoring Hogan Dees have planned well as I said earlier in the thread the club has been in constant dialogue with Jesse over the season assessing his plans post 2019 as list managers prepare moving forward Tom Lynch was considered as part of a plan but we were ruled out early as the Hogan talks continued We were Gaffs club of choice but not prepared to pay what he (his manager)was asking. Has that changed after he saw how close he was last week and realised what it actually means to win one, I have no idea Hogans trip to Perth this week is nothing suspicious it was long planned he and mates are heading to Europe and may include Oktoberfest Suns want May out if he is not prepared to commit beyond next season. As they move to restart their culture and despite the bravado will take the best offer available (within reason)
