TEAM SELECTION AND MATCH PREVIEW - ROUND SEVEN
Pennant St Dee replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
We really need to come out hard in this one and send them into self preservation mode. Give them a sniff and they still have enough talent to do number on us. Fook I hate them with a passion since they made me cry in 87 -
Kent for mine does not get considered until he is absolutely busting the door down. Needs to work on his output and effort when we don't have the ball. Has an abundance of talent but needs to improve his professionalism and workrate. Hogan the obvious in with possibly a key tall in Omac going out and maybe Harmes for JKH

6.Watts 5. Trac 4. Pedersen 3. Oliver 2. Lewis 1. Tmac

An ex Hawk board member once said if they took Judd over Hodge he would have had immediate impact unlike Hodge who struggled in his early years. The immediate impact IHO would not have seen such a drop off as they did under Schwab after the 2001 prelim loss to Essendon. No dramatic drop off could have seen them miss Clarkson and almost certainly miss both Roughead & Franklin. I think had we drafted correctly as hindsight now shows us we miss Petracca and Clarrie
-
Really happy for you Nev. Always loved your hardness and work ethic which got you drafted. Those same traits saw the FD putting faith in you to give you a second shot which you grabbed by the throat. A well deserved milestone
-
Darcy Cameron would have been taken with their second pick
-
As a rookie yes he costs us nothing . Many Demonlanders said coming in we were light on in the ruck department. We always believed it could be a possibility that if Gawn went down we could be in some trouble. I have spoken to people in the FD at meth Coast and can tell you if the 3rd man up rule had been done earlier they would have traded and drafted a little differently

I agree Macca and fully understand the problems with fixturing but think it is that important for us as a club to get this as an annual event.
-
I don't consider the difference that big. Nic Nat yes but Lycett was expected to play round 1 and was injured in Round 1 WAFL . They already had Giles as 3rd back up and took on 2 more mature players in Vardy and Petrie. We could have taken Petrie as a rookie and he could have assised as a second tall in development at Casey or come in when KPFs or a ruck was injured
-
Oh that was the reason then. Ffs. Say what you like we could have taken a mature age rookie for 1 year as insurance. In our defence Lamumbas retirement didn't help us with a spot being taken up on the list

We need to be strong as a club and maintain this fixture it can set us up big time. I understand the pitfalls with the possibility of two 5 or a 5 and 4 day break on certain occasions but the benefits far outweigh it long term. I heard Treloar say this morning that playing on Anzac day was a big attraction to joining the Pies. He also said he watched last night and felt he would love to have been part of the occasion. The last 2 years have been big successes the 85k crowd will have been looked on favourably by the AFL. Whatever it takes Dees get this fixture permanent and don't underestimate the drawcard as a club if this is an annual event If we play Tuesday next year then so we play Monday night or Sunday against the Pies or Essendon

Was at the Freo vs North game last night, when the game was on the line Mundy Johnson Neale Fyfe and Sandi all stood up. 5 leaders makes a difference in getting mediocre sides over the line and setting standards for the younger players coming through.

TEAM SELECTION AND MATCH PREVIEW - ROUND 5

Demonland where the Match Committee are proven wrong before the event based on Bugg's VFL performance. However Kent's underwhelming VFL performance still has Demonlanders questioning the Match Committees decision to omit him. -
I'd very much doubt all of Freo Saints and Suns will all lose and I certainly don't want to be relying on other results to get anywhere. We did that in 2004/05 to scrape into the 8. Went out in both elimination finals when a month out in both home and away seasons we were looking Top 4 at worst possibly top 2

Don't kid yourself about Richmond beating nobody they are playing a different brand of free flowing footy to 2016. Martin has been freed up with Prestia and Caddy coming in. Cotchin is an A grader and playing a great leadership roll. If we are not on next week they will hurt us big time on the fast break from turnovers. The boys face a very big acid test next week. The kids and older players all need to lift their efforts for 4 quarters and not switch off at any stage

It's there on my Galaxy click on the chosen game and at the middle of the bottom of the screen is a green play button. Click that and you get through to a list of stations you choose to listen to

Just chew us up and spit us out again!
Pennant St Dee replied to picket fence's topic in Melbourne Demons
The town was Swinford hence the Swinford curse and as Dubliner I was happy to see the curse rear it's head in last years All Ireland which ended in a draw with Mayo throwing away their best opportunity against the Dubs worst performance in 2 seasons. The Dubs won the replay to go back to back and make it 3 in 4 and 4 titles in 6 years -
Goes backwards knowing impact is coming and takes a leaders mark. Nails the set shot with 3 mins left I think the interrupted pre season and hip operation may have impacted his power somewhat. This is the problem when your game relies on it so much

Demonland Player of the Year - Round 4

6. Watts 5. Oliver 4. Petracca 3. Garlett 2. Spencer 1. Salem -
The only positive I take is the fightback came from Trac Salem and Oliver getting their hands dirty and Hunt gut running. It's Viney Jones Vince and Mcdonald who need to look at themselves for allowing a side to get on a 7 goal roll without trying to slow down and take some life out of the game. That is where it was lost. Hodge Lewis Hurn Selwood Danger all would have taken it upon themselves to stop the rot. Viney disapoints me most for not doing this

Swans doing exactly as they did with Smith Hannaberry Jack Johnson & Reid in 2010/11. They will be strong again pretty quickly with the same brand of footy
