  1. You are an absolute ????? it's well documented. His father isn't well and hasn't been for some time now.
  2. We set up behind the ball anticipating Selwood and Danger to get first use and bomb long. So we put numbers down back to repel. When it looked like we would get first hands on the ball or create a maul we streamed forward to create numbers around the contest or have a wall approaching Geelong as they tried to clear their defensive 50. Good and innovative coaching. Really like the way Goodwin changes tactics during the game and responds to what he sees happening
  3. 6. Jones - an absolute leader and should get the 3 Chas votes 5. Hunt - very damaging with his run and work ethic proving to be an absolute steal 4. Watts - battled all day and gave everything. Never thought I'd see Watts battle his way through exhaustion the way he did today 3. Nibbler - one horror mistake but for the rest of the game was very good worked hard harassed and tackled applying pressure and creating turnovers 2. Melksham- not outstanding but a good 4 quarter game and liked his decision making 1. Kent - like many set shots weren't great but was good for the most part
  4. Freemasons Hotel or Railways Footy Club
  5. Alex Rance v Watts 2016 is what's stopping it
  6. Still don't understand why we can't wear our all red jumper with the MFC logo white shorts and redlegs against Meth Coast Port Richmond Carlton Adelaide and Essendon there's no clash there. Our new jumper with the red back works against the Saints. And for whatever crazy reason they want us to change against the Suns than I don't mind Leoncelli's jumper above
  7. I think Vince will be fine maybe cop a fine Smith was showing a bit and it was a bit of a shame he copped the injury. The Blues aren't super tall up forward so Hibberd or Wagner for Smith is the only change. ANB stays in had a good game and needs to apply defensive pressure on Simpson across HB
  8. A couple of years back many Deelanders and not without warrant were bemoaning our lack of players getting decent possession numbers across the board. Certainly been turning around in the last 18 months and was evident though pre season and yesterday. There was a great spread through the side but not just pointless possessions. The disposal efficiency and transition through the corridor or over the Saints zone was fantastic. Celebration done now Carlton. Let's not make the mistakes of Round Two 2016 PS: Clayton Oliver, that is all
  9. 6. Jones 5. Oliver 4. Jetta 3. Vince 2. Lewis 1. Gawn I can't believe that was us today after quarter time. Weathered the storm regained momentum and just dominated after that.
  10. Congratulations
  11. IMO as it currently stands the Saints are currently ahead of us and whilst I expect it to be close I think they will grab the chocolates. I hope I am wrong but that is how I see it, there is not a huge void between us and I believe we will overtake them in the next 18 months. My current read on both sides and the Etihad factor will have me tipping the Saints, but more than happy to drop this one
  12. I will start by saying I missed most of the 70s as a spectator so missing quiet a few legends 1. Carey 2. Ablett jnr 3.Lockett 4. Flower 5. Ablett Snr 6. Matthews 7.Maurice Rioli 8. Voss 9. 14. Remember dropping the first 3 in 2006. The 3rd loss was a home game at Carara part of the ground access issues at the G due the the Commonwealth Games. In the 2nd half of the Adelaide loss we showed signs of turning the corner. I remember we went on a very good run till we travelled to Meth Coast and lost. We were a good side that year but not quite up there with the Swans and Meth Coast. If you give me a 5 & 1 with the only loss being to the Saints I'm taking it
  15. It is no different to the difference in the Collingwood home and Collingwood clash differential
  16. Yep what a joke that was. Turned over 2 3rds of his disposals. Norm Smith for mine was Mcrae with Kennedy Picken and Boyd rounding out the top 5
  17. I have Meth Coast in my top 4. Mitchells influence in freeing up Priddis Gaff and Shuey along with Sheed coming back in will be huge. Mckenzie is now in his second year back from a knee and along with Mcgovern and Barrass are 3 good tall defenders who are well complimented by Shepherd and Wellingham. Then we have their forward line. I hate them more than anything but expect them to be strong
  18. It's only pre season don't get ahead of ourselves. At least that is what I'm telling myself after watching that. Plenty to like about especially from some of the new recruits Players who were limited last season Some of our younger boys. Ok Pennant calm down
  19. It's a ridiculous formula. Makes absolutely no sense. Everything swings and roundabouts on what we currently have. So we have 4 choices. A) 34 game season home and away - can't work with such a demanding game and the season would be to long. B) Stay as we are C) 17 game season Play each team once and if you are at home against a particular side the following season you play them away and vice versa D) 26 game season Year 1 Play each side once 9 home 8 away Play 9 sides a second time either home or away dependent upon where you played the first time Year 2 Play each side once 8 home 9 away Play the other 9 sides you didn't play twice the previous season and obviously home/away alternates This is an issue with Queens birthday and other blockbusters but on the plus side we'd get home gates against the Bombers Hawks Tigers Blues Pies and Cats at least every second year. We could keep QB and make sure we always played against the Pies every second year and another big drawing Melbourne based club the alternate year as the home side. We keep ANZAC eve and alternate home and away each year with Richmond No byes increase the playing lists and tell the clubs its their job to manage their players
  20. No he actually broke his leg after a couple of games. Was dropped to the VFL after a couple of AFL games and whilst pushing to get back in broke his leg and wad out for a sustained period. May have played a couple of games late in his debut season. But IMO Oliver had more upside/potential than Cripps
  21. Cripps broke a leg in his first year
  22. In the past pre season games at Subi have been just sit where you want. I wouldn't bother with the upgrade a Thursday night you're hardly going to get more than 20k attending. And the stadium holds around 42 to 43k
  23. I don't have a lot of time for shrinking violets in the game and as someone with a minimal amount of talent, love hard players and those who got the absolute best out of themselves or stood up and were prepared to make statements on the field when needed or who were just leaders and culture makers. Let me also say IMO you can admire players you don't love. Lets be honest over the years there are plenty we have despised who we would have loved in our side. That's not to say there weren't out and out skilfull players who I just loved watching. The list below is long but as an avid footy lover I'm not a supporter who can't appreciate players just because they don't play for the Dees, without writing all day apologies to some who missed the list Dougie Hawkins, Paul Couch, Scotty West, Simon Black, Brad Johnson, Anthony Stevens & Plugger 80's Maurice Rioli - magical touch and very tough Van Der Haar - when I started following the Dees highlights were minimal I loved watching PVH when he was on Krakouer Brothers - like Maurice they were just great to watch The Dominator - when the big games were on he rose to the occasion Derm - as above Pants Millane - just loved his hardness and no nonsense approach Ablett Snr - just great to watch and if you were in his way he was going through you 90's & Noughties Paul Kelly - great leader and hard as nails Carey - the best I have ever seen Robert Harvey - hard work and the ultimate professional Andrew McLeod - oozed class and made things happen Rucciutto - loved his attack on the ball, good mark for his size and good through the middle or playing forward Voss - hard at it, classy and when an example needed to be made he was your man Archer - my favourite non demon player, loved everything about the way he played and how he got the best out of himself Jono Brown - no regard for his body and just a champion player Lenny Hayes - as above Chris Judd - absolute class and made my year when he walked out on Meth Coast Pavlich - champion 1 club player and a champion bloke Jude Bolton - didn't have great ability, was an absolute tackling machine with an appetite for digging deep and always put his body on the line. Like Archer got the absolute best out of himself, I actually named a son after him Present day players Nick Riewoldt - just a champion keeps going when he shouldn't and has no barriers Pendlebury - makes the game look easy, time seems to stand still when he has the ball Joel Selwood - leader in every sense of the word, no regard for his welfare. Sammy Mitchell - say what you like about him but I could watch this guy all day, great disposal by hand and foot on both sides of the body and knows how to find the footy in close. Makes something out of nothing with quality skill and utilises awareness and vision to overcome a lack of pace Matt Priddis - know a bit about his background, slow, poor disposal by foot, not tall and little awareness around goal. Hard work made him a good junior and really helped him at WAFL level but big question marks about him at the next level. Well he worked his backside off to build a great tank, strong core to stand up in the tackle and never give up. It's a credit to him that he won the games ultimate prize. Luke Hodge - god I would love him to have been at our club, smartest player in the AFL and an onfield general. leads by example has great vision and disposal is a grade. Hard as nails, no nonsense leader who was a big part in setting the great culture the Hawks had during their dominant period
  24. I think the fact Ricuitto Mcleod and Hart were in that side effects the way people remember him. I recall him as a strong runner with a penetrating left foot. Him and Tyson Edwards were the next rung of gun players behind the other 3 in that side
