  1. Disagree Port never really gained anything from the Stevens stance and Rawlings had a handful of decent games at the Dogs. Clubs have evolved and have come to realise there's no point having a player who doesn't want play for you. I very much doubt North would waste pick 3 on a player who will want out after year 1 when there's talent available. We've already made the decision we wont use pick 10 so if we very much front end load Levers contract we can take him with pick 10 or another 1st rounder we may trade up to with a player exchanged with 10. We would keep pick 27 with this scenario and despite all there tough talk the Crows will be fully aware of this and IMO Lever and his manager would have reiterated this point and that will be why there's bad blood
  2. If you say he is enough times does that make it true. I've list count how many times in this thread he's been referred to as a AA defender
  3. Liam Ryan was disappointing yesterday in the WAFL Grand Final. Struggled as he did last season against AFL defenders who gave him little room. In his defence on a couple of occasions the delivery was not great but he doesn't work hard enough to get enough separation from the defender. Very few second efforts yesterday. He got worked over physically at every opportunity. 4th rounder or Rookie at best
  4. His biggest assets are his leadership and composure. Especially for a player his age
  5. Haselby talks him up as well. The intensity on Sunday was a lot closer to AFL level then other WAFL games. Be great to see the kid step up, just not convinced
  6. I watched the Prelim on Sunday Subiaco vs South Fremantle. Kelly was very poor especially when Subi inctreased their physicality and pressure on the ball carrier. One thing I took away from the game was Liam Ryan's second efforts and defensive pressure he applied. He had his usual flashes of brilliance but the other sides of his defensive game were not things I had seen him do before. Be interested to see how he goes in this week's GF
  7. But we wouldn't have been as bad as we were and would have been middle of the road quicker, hence missing out on Trac and Clarrie. I have a view Red that everything in life happens for a reason. Sometimes it takes a long time to see the silver lining/positive Eg:2001 Hawks were a decent side if yhey take Judd who was an instant impact they don't bottom out in 02/03 and commence the full 04 rebuild. Meaning no Roughy Franklin and Lewis
  8. Lever will decide where he goes. He doesn't have a contract. North have more bargaining power than both us and Collingwood but it's irrelevant
  9. Tim Sheehan? The former NRL Coach
  10. IMO Lever is a very good player showing leadership and AA potential based on this season and worth pick 10 with some kind of sweetner Whitfield is worth the same in terms of trade value. But mark my words he will cost a lot more next year. Watch his finals series last season when the heat was really on. His decision making, ball use and running power are A grade. Omac took rapid strides this season and whilst he isn't Lever he's shown plenty of positives for pick 53 early in his career. We have seen the team defence work well this season and fall away as cattle went missing and when lack of pressure around the middle cut up our zone. Will they improve again next year. Yes IMO with or without Lever. Trengove from Port will also improve us greatly What we lack most is a polished outside mid to improve our delivery inside 50. Get the ball in quick, reduce the overuse of handball and make good decisions and see how more effective our forwards are. Even young Wied on a quick lead and not having to go arm in arm due to poor slow delivery would benefit greatly and cause headaches. If it is a choice in using all our currency on Lever or getting Trengove as a FA and using our currency on an outside gun I know what I would prefer
  11. I'd target Whitfield over Kelly based on long term salary cap and probability of getting a deal done in terms of not giving as much away. I personally think Whitfield playing outside of Clarrie and Viney would be huge
  12. It was KB with Brian Waldron which contradicts what Waldron was saying last week that his mail was that Lever was heading to Collingwood
  13. We would have won an extra 2 games if Hibberd converted on the run against North in Hobart and Cam Mcarthys late lunge hadnt connected at the G earlier in the season. Footy is full of what ifs
  14. I'd love Lever but Kelly would be icing on the cake
  15. Tell me more on Petrucelle. He's one ive been watching from a distance as not a gun but will benefit in professional environment
  16. Ryan - won't makeit at the next level struggles against good close checking defenders Wilson- looks to be really enjoying his footy and is very much one the many in betweeners. Standout at WAFL but not quite up to it at next level. Marsh - the most likely to step up and wouldn't be surprised to see Freo take a punt on him. Other clubs will be weary based on personal issues from previous stint at the Pies Schloithe- has been very impressive at WAFL for a few years now. Very surprised a club hasn't rookied him already. Solid performer but doesn't really have any x factor to his game Meadows - is an interesting one who was a decent back flanker but has worked on his tank. Benefits in the Cardies midfield with Shane Nelson Aaron Black copping the taggers. Very good by foot but would like to see how he deals with a close tag Bolton- accumulator and will always be good at this level. Disposal is really poor and would be a liability at AFL level. Kelly - always been a very talented player but not outstanding at draft age. Questions were there about his hunger and consistency. Has knuckled down over past couple of years and got serious and used his assets to put himself on the radar. He has the most upside but I still worry about long term hunger and commitment at AFL level which is a massive step up. Worth considering as a rookie
  17. Don't misquote me I never said I would prefer Tippett to Lever. I was merely saying don't be surprised if he isn't being considered by the FD. They don't just say yeah no Thanks without assessing all pros and cons. A. We could do with some more outside pace to assist Hunt. Think along the Hawks model of Smith and Hill and this can be through the draft. Lever will cost our first rounder and a player or next years first rounder in a good draft B. Again looking forward Weid is progressing and is a couple of years away from a full season of consistent form. Getting another experienced forward in buys him development time in the VFL C. Midfield depth is something we need in 2019 and beyond with Vince Jones and Lewis all going to be either finished or close to it by that stage. Again something we need to do through the draft Let me say again we need to be very careful about paying overs for Lever. Trengove from Port will come cheaper and is versatile. If I'm giving up 2 first rounders and cash its for Josh Kelly over Lever
  18. I agree somewhat Wyl but the attack begins with run + quick and good disposal which we have in Salem, Hibberd and Hunt. I like Lever but I am not in the "Just get it done camp" When all fit and firing we play very good team defence and our quick ball movement addresses our lack of genuine pace through the middle. If we chase Lever we need to be weary of the cost in terms of picks. Pretty confident the FD will ne well down the road of planning for next season. I wouldn't be surprised if we were one of the clubs looking at Tippett at the right price in terms of Sydney paying a good part of his salary and being desperate enough to off load him to let him go cheaply enough. Many demonlanders will say no but he would be good as a forward option to assist Hoges. I don't think it will happen but I would assume it's been looked at
  19. In hindsight we'd take Lever, however we couldn't foresee what was going to occur with Gus. Having said all that and whilst many were pushing Stevie May, who don't get me wrong is a gun defender and would provide massive improvement, Lever to me has some outstanding leadership and culture building qualities. I think he'll stay at the Crows but jeysus I'd love to see him in the Red & Blue for 2017 and beyond
  20. Do not underestimate another 20 games under hisand Frost's belt and what a fit Gawn will do for us relieving the pressure on our defence. I think we need to be careful not to sell the farm on a kpd. A quality forward, some outside run and anotner back up ruckman (not a gun either) are what we need in the jigsaw more than anything else
  21. Watch footage of a young Rance very poor. Darren Glass at a young age schizen. Cale Hooker again nothing to see here. Robbie Tarrant 2009 to 2014 = delist material.Ted Richards ???? Unlike others I don't,mind what glimpses I've seen in Oscar. I don't think he'sever going to be a star but I think he will develop into a very strong one on one backman
  22. No he actually broke his leg after a couple of games. Was dropped to the VFL after a couple of AFL games and whilst pushing to get back in broke his leg and wad out for a sustained period. May have played a couple of games late in his debut season. But IMO Oliver had more upside/potential than Cripps
  23. Cripps broke a leg in his first year
  24. Kick Left Footed Handball - both hands neither is more dominant Tennis/Golf - right handed because I was given a set of right handed clubs Cricket/Baseball - left handed Eat - left handed & mouth of course Handwriting - right handed but my mother tells me she changed me when I was a child because it was the done thing, both my siblings are left handed and are very creative with art and using tools where as I am shocking
