  1. Me too. I will be watching Harmes with great interest.
  2. I have a bad feeling about this one. Not that I will be upset. After being shizen for so long, I am loving winning, but also know that it will end at some point and that it wont be the end of the world. It's a funny thing football. Richmond beat W.Bulldogs last week and they are the real deal. 1 week later they are smashed by Geelong and know a lot of the commentary is that they will struggle to make finals. We will lose games this year, and when we do, the narrative will be how we cannot be trusted. Sydney match up well against us.
  3. I was listening to ABC radio on the 186 game day in the car. Pre-game all the talk was how we were starting to track ok and looked like we were finally improving. I ran out of reception for the nearly entire game. When i tuned back in, Gerald Whately said "The Demons have lost by 186 points, and the only question is ; do they sack the coach now or later in the week?"
  4. Tom would be the only one on big coin in that group though. Not that I'm worried. I actually think these early contracts might position us well for a crack at a free agent. Hoping we were able to front load.
  5. Its not just draft picks though. They will go into deficit having to pay a huge price for Daicos this year. But they have a list of around 40 players who they have shown they are willing to trade. They will likely be going into a mini rebuild by years end. They will be moving more players on.
  6. Agree AF. I wouldnt be writing them off yet after 1 bad half against a great team. That midfield is still incredible (despite losing Dunkley) and will beat most teams. Their youngsters look good and their support players are good enough. In saying all that... Queanbeyan Demons analysis of their bad players is accurate too.
  7. Yep. Great point. Offer him the contract we will have to offer him at the end of next year. Hopefully he signs it now and we can focus on setting up the rest of the list and for a stab at a free agent.
  8. Would look who else we could get. Sidebottom?
  9. Beat me to it Nasher. I loved going there as a kid but it hasnt been any redevelopment in years.
  10. North Hobart isnt a full sized ground. The 50m line is actually 40m and nearly overlaps the centre square. Melbourne played Collingwood there in a preseason game in 01 or 02 and Mick Malthouse complained re: size of ground. There is a very proud Lawn Bowl club right behind the ground that would need to make way for major changes to take place but the Lawn Bowl club has a huge history and wont be going anywhere.
  11. Yep. It's possible to feel for the North supporters (as we have been there before) and also want to smash their team by 100 points. To be fair to them, they have played competitive for periods of games this year. They just cant sustain it for a whole match. Will be happy to just get the win, but a thrashing would be great.
  12. I live in Hobart and agree 100%. I hate the ground. It's a nice place to watch the cricket but terrible for football. I know that sounds odd, but there are a tonne of reasons. Having lived in Melbourne for a number of years and a frequent visitor to the MCG, i'm staggered how bad the Hobart stadium is. You would think that everyone involved with the stadium admin or day to day operations had never even been to the MCG once. It's why some of us get upset when the Melbourne based supporters dont bother going to the Marvel games. I was looking forward to seeing the team play with my family but will likely come up to Melbourne and be very happy to visit Marvel. It works out great for the dees as North play in Hobart well.
  13. Put $100 on. Made $2100. They know that the average punter will give it back to them within a month.
  14. Sportsbet just paid out on the dees winning the premiership. I got $100 on when they were paying $21. Just made the weekend so much better
  15. 7 goals was a great return, but lets be honest, Box Hill were listless. Still... i think Brown and Weid are part of our best 22 and its a big call to keep Mitch Brown in the team when both are looking good enough to play.
  16. Harmes should be back soon. Maybe this is where Brayshaw could step up further? Now he is on the outside he does seem a bit like a mummys boy. Some tatts could really improve his image. Nothing soft either... it would need to be an oldschool tattoo. Really think it should be a demon to show how committed he is to the team. Combine it with some 90s style tribal stuff.
  17. Correct. Our first pick is in the second round and is linked to Brisbane. We traded our own away.
  18. We were. But so were others. Geelong were set to take him at pick 19 but Port pipped them with pick 18. Our next pick was 32 (Rivers). We were way off.
  19. I hate to say this... (because i have bagged others on here for the same attitude at times for not enjoying the wins...) We really havent beaten anyone good yet. Freo are ok. StKilda are a rabble at the moment. GWS lost a heap of players to injury but are a decent team. Geelong are playing far below their best so far this year (hopefully it continues for another decade). Hawks are an average team. What i will say is that we look like a team who will play finals. But can we challenge the top 4 teams? This week will be a true test to see how we are travelling. Looking forward to it!
  20. I watched the replay on kayo today. Post match commentary from Dermott Brerenton has him absolutely giving it to the umpires for that decision and also the Gawn v McEvoy decision not too long after. I've never heard him give it to the umpires so badly before.
  21. Ahh ok.. i listened to the interview from the current player who said it wasnt. Maybe it was just due to the hub year.
  22. I think most of us assumed it was already happening
  23. Yeah that [censored] me off. Tim Watson at half time saying that "May's head was in the wrong spot" [censored] me off too (he was trying to indicate that it was an accident but his choice of words was [censored] [censored] poor).
  24. Terrible for both teams in my opinion but I did feel like Geelong had some lucky frees that lead to goals which impacted the game more. That umpire with the booming deep voice was the worst. Very difficult game to umpire and the view they have is radically different to the one (or multiple) views we get.
  25. What a game by Jake Lever
