  1. Signature worthy material.
  2. Maybe this is what Jack is waiting for himself? On current trajectory, it won't happen.
  3. PMSL.
  4. And even he will be surpassed by Jack Martin. The Suns are going to have one hell of an engine room.
  5. No mate. But whoever did has plenty of time on their hands.
  6. Just had this emailed to me. A good chuckle if you've not already read it. My Essendon Lie By James Hird (To the tune of American Pie) [intro] A long, long time ago I can still remember how Shane Charters used to make me smile And I knew if I had my chance That I could make my players dance And maybe they'd be stronger for a while But 2013 made me shiver With every paper that was delivered Barrett on my doorstep I couldn't take one more step I can't remember if I cried When I read about how they proved I lied But something touched me deep inside The day my fiction, died [Chorus] So bye-bye, to my Essendon Lie Took my Bombers to the top, and built up our pride And my good old boys injectin another peptide Singin' "No-one will ever know that we lied No-one will ever know that we lied" [Verse 1] Did you write the book of push & shove And do you have faith in Demetriou above If the AFL tells you so? Now do you believe in 9604, And how drugs save your football soul And can you teach me how to inject real slow? Well, you know that I was in love with Dank Since I saw him injectin out the back We both beefed up our tans To show off to all our fans I was a lonely rookie coachin' buck With a Brownlow medal and a million bucks But I knew I was out of luck The day they found I lied [Chorus] I started singin' bye-bye, to my Essendon Lie Took my Bombers to the top, but then our hamstrings died And my good old boys injectin another peptide Singin' "Hope they never find out we lied Hope they never find out we lied" [Verse 2] Now for ten games we've been out on our own With hidden texts on my mobile phone But that's not how it used to be When the rumours came that we werent clean When in truth we were as high as James Dean But the drugs came from Dank, not me And while me, the king, was counting cash ASADA found my hidden stash The courtroom was adjourned Until the ASADA verdict was returned And while Sam Newman read a book from FARC The media stakeout in the park And we injected in the dark The day our dreams died [Chorus] We were singin' bye-bye, to my Essendon Lie Took my Bombers to the top, but no-one knew why And my good old boys injectin another peptide Singin' "Do you think that the media has spied? Do you think that the media has spied?" [Verse 3] Helter skelter in a winter swelter The wheels fell off in another belter Eighth place now and falling fast Another player lying on the grass A hamstring sprung trying a short pass Another player on the sidelines in a cast Now the premiership air is sweet perfume While Meatloaf sings an awful tune Wed all love the September dance Oh, but well never get the chance 'Cause if the players try to take the field Will ASADA refuse to yield? Will we ever really know what was revealed The day my dream died? [Chorus] We were singin' bye-bye, to my Essendon Lie Took my Bombers to the top, but then David Evans cried And my good old boys injectin another peptide Singin' "ASADAs looking and Id better go hide ASADAs looking and Id better go hide." [Verse 4] Oh, and there we were all in one place An entire season lost in space With no chance left to start again So come on, Jobe be nimble, Jobe be quick Watson sat On the Couch real quick ('Cause Roosy is the Demons only friend) Oh, and as I watched him on the stage My hands were clenched in fists of rage No angel born in Hell Could break that Roosy spell And as the ratings climbed high into the night To light the sacrificial rite I saw Roosy laughing with delight Thats when, they knew, I lied He was singin' bye-bye, to my Essendon Lie Took my Bombers to the top, but our success was a lie And my good old boys injectin another peptide Singin' "Now our premiership dreams are fried Now our premiership dreams are fried " [Verse 5] I asked my girl who hates the Blues And I asked her for some happy news But she just smiled and turned away I went down to the AFL store Where they all loved me years before But the man there said that finals, we wouldn't play And in Bay 13, the Bombers screamed The Magpies cried and the Hawks all dreamed But not a word was spoken The servers all were broken And the three men I admire most The Demetriou, The Dank and the Charters Ghost They caught the last train for the coast The day theyd found Id lied And they were singin' bye-bye, to my Essendon Lie Took my Bombers to the top, but then our hamstrings died And my good old boys injectin another peptide Singin' "I cant believe they found out we lied About ever having seen a peptide [Chorus] They were singin' bye-bye, to my Essendon Lie Took my Bombers to the top, but then our hamstrings died And my good old boys injectin another peptide Singin' "I cant believe they found out we lied
  7. The players have been poorly coached for the last 5 years or more. When Neeld came in with his action and behaviours crap and elite preparation processes he did it the wrong way and completely and emotionally lost the players. The result of this is still bearing fruit today and to think Neil Craig can change how our players are thinking about themselves, their coaches and playing for the MFC is delusional. Blame the players all you want but until we get a coach in that convey what it means to play for the MFC and have pride in the jumper it won't change. It's going to take a very special individual to do this because the players are obviously so bereft of any real positivity on game days. I think almost all of the players want to win games. Just some of them don't want to change in order to do that.
  8. I believe the Lions could. It's a two club state and Roos would bring out the old Fitzroy crowd and turn it back into memeberships not to mention potential sponsors getting in on the Paul Roos hype.
  9. 50,000 Watts threads on the go...
  10. It was only a few weeks ago we were singing his praises at taking that clutch mark against the Dogs in the final minute of the game. That right there shows you that he has got that footy nous as well as sublime skills. It's easy to compare him to the likes of Jack Darling and Hurley etc but everyone's different and clubs develop players in different ways too. Let's all remember that the club has not developed any real stars at all for the last 10 years. Jacks consistency to compete is relative to many others on our lists lack of consistency such as effort, tackling, hitting targets etc.. The whole list is in dire need of a new FD structure and decent coach and just when we're about to get them many here say Jack can GAGF because he was a little vocal on a stupid TV show. Personally, I'll be [censored] off if Watts is traded. The coaches available for hire right now would love to mould Watts into the star he is capable of becoming. Just like many of the other clubs that are waiting for the trade period thinking they'll get Watts cheap. If he was to go, like others, I would hope for a hard midfielder. Swallow would be an amazing trade but highly unlikely.
  11. You blame him for outcomes the coach is responsible for. He was responsible for managing the club strategy, putting systems in place to keep the club strong. The difference between him and CS could be debated there. Sounds like you're not a fan.
  12. Not even having Watts on the show will make me bother to tune-in. Reminds me of the Muppets, just not as funny.
  13. With Voss becoming our midfield coach next year it would be a great get.
  14. Either coach just needs to get the team winning. The marketing will then take care of itself.
  15. If the offer of $1.5M is true, I wonder what Eade and Williams are worth offering?? Eade would demand no more than $700K and I reckon Williams would be lucky to get $600K (someone tell me if I'm off the mark here)... Based on these assumptions, I would like to know just how much extra value Roos would offer the club for near double the salary that would most likely secure the other two candidates. The most imprtant criteria for me would be the ability to drive postive culture change by getting the group to respond to the new coach. The systems a new coach puts in place may vary but on face value I reckon actual footy acumen would be fairly well even across these three men. The club must think that Roos leadership capabilities is far superior to Eade and Williams. I'm not completely sold on that.
  16. One thing is for certain in my mind. Paul Roos will coach next year. Where that will be I have no idea but the fact that he will still take calls from both us and the Lions means he's obviously tossing up his options. My money's on the Lions.
  17. Eff the VFL. Very sad that the club places this above its values and getting a bloke off the hook. More to it for sure.
  18. This calls for a good old Whiskey Tango Foxtrot
  19. Why can't it be announced? Sure he's still contracted until the end of the season and possibly beyond at the Pies but the early announcement of the senior coach does somewhat hinge on the re-signing of certain players. Surely clubs are mature enough now to not only abide by the AFL's new rules but to also work together on handover strategies? Eade can still be immersed in the Pies role going into the finals and then step into the MFC at seasons end. He's been in the game long enough to understand how to direct his focus. Neeld would've wet his pants when awarded the job and Malthouse rightly sent him out the door - even though McChins blew a gasket. Announce Eade or Williams ASAP.
  20. Can anyone please indicate which quarter and rough time it occurred so I don't have to trawl thru a whole game again. Cheers
  21. Recent weeks would suggest otherwise.
  22. I'm annoyed that Neeld traded for Dawes with the mindset that Watts will play as a defender. I see so much more potential in Watts as that lead up forward. It's only his ability to make a tackle stick that frustrates me at the moment. Even his contested pack marking has improved out of sight since given the role back up forward.
  23. Was in total agreement with the commentators when they were asking why Watts was playing spare man in defence while we had it in our forward half for the best part of the last quarter. Have no idea what the coaches were thinking. And BTW, Watts must be signed. Smart footballer and salubrious kick.
  24. I missed it. Who did he sling and did it result in the player leaving the field? The MRP react to more to the effect than the actual cause.
