I watched him in a few games this year, and think he has a real future. Darling, who has a mature body and is 5cm shorter, has played on the 3rd and 4th best defenders. Let's compare them in 4 years time, and then we'll know who was the better get.

I keep hearing Warnock for Lisle. Perhaps Warnock + Dawk's FRDP to crows, Gunstan to dawks and Lisle to us.

Uninspiring this year as both a captain and a player. A decade of effort, and talent, before then. If he can get his head in the right space, his value as a medium sized forward who can still take a strong contested grab is still important to a young team. Hopefully the new coaching team can turn it around for him. That aside, a good deal at the trade table would not disappoint me.

MM reiterated today that he will never coach again.

His attitude is great - he gave his all at Casey, and I liked his midfield work. I would hope that the sports science guys will help him rediscover his pace. He is contracted for another year and I hope the club keeps him.

Just needs to really believe in himself and how much talent he has. Good coaching should bring out self belief - hopefully. He could become a very dangerous player - he has x factor.

I'm impressed by his ability to get to contests. He played a couple of excellent games at Casey fighting out of his weght division. He's 200cm and weighs only 89/90 kgs. In his 1st game he took 4 marks and had 11 disposals (only 48% efficiency) where nerves seemed to get the better of him. Far from the worst debut I've seen and no reason to get rid of him. I'd give him a couple of years and then assess.

Having just read the thread, I see no hate - just reasonable arguments about the length of any contract that may be offered to him. FWIW i reckon he should 'relinquish' the captaincy (and thus have the onus of kicking captain's goals removed), and be offered a 1x1 contract. If he wishes to leave, we wish him the best and wave goodbye. He's been a wonderful servant of the club, but unfortunately a terrible on-field leader.

Royal worked with the midfield 2001 - 2003. Our midfield then wasn't too bad. He couldn't do a worse job than West, or than what he did as defensive coach. I'm not happy with the situation, but if they really wanted him out they would have sacked him - the payout wouldn't have been that much.

I was not a fan of his, but today's performance was good. He gave his all, ran hard and used the ball well. Too many watch him through biased eyes.

Fitspatrick had an unfortunate debut - he showed he can get the ball and get to good position. Just nerves got to him. He showed that with experience he could be a good footballer.
