Good luck to him, and good result for us. He'd have been delisted either way. Pick 52 is better than nothing, especially given that we were looking at pick 73 as our third pick come draft day.

I love that we're just screwing everything up for everyone with last minute deals. Good one Melbourne!

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - MITCH CLARK
Jaded No More replied to waynewussell's topic in Melbourne Demons
What? I agree that with Clark there we can kick the ball long, but we needed that big bodied forward to enable us to do what we haven't been able to do since Neita retired. Those whinging that we paid over the odds, or that Clark is no good, are probably those who are crying out the most for a big target. -

But why does somebody always have to be negative? FFS this is a massive win for us, and Clark hasn't put a foot wrong yet, but someone just has to come along and have a sook about Melbourne stuffing up. Why can't supporters just believe that we're capable of doing good things and trust us to deliver? This woe-is-us attitude is so pathetic in light of the great pre-season we've had thus far. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - MITCH CLARK
Jaded No More replied to waynewussell's topic in Melbourne Demons
I barely read Demonland in the off season, and some of the opinions in this thread, is precisely why. So many posters here have no understanding whatsoever of footy structures or what this guy will mean to the way we play. I bet they are the same supporters who cry "kick it long" every week. And pick 12 is a massive mistake? WTF? Pick 12 in an average draft raped by GWS would have probably netted us some average midfielder who would get delisted in 4 years, or compete for 22nd spot with Jones. Thrilling right? This is a huge get for us. Had we gotten Dawes people would be saying we did a great thing, but Clark is a far better player, more athletic and more versatile and will completely change our entire forward setup. -
Boo Hoo Freo, sour grapes. Unsurprising to anyone that you lost out in a trade situation. What goes around comes around in terms of loyalty too, which is why I do not give a crap that Clark decided to pick the cash over his family (not that we know the whole deal, maybe this money will help him help his family?). We were royally screwed by a kid who lied to us for an entire year, and was not a proven commodity like Clark is. I no longer have any feelings towards these sorts of things. I'm just thrilled that we picked our target and moved heaven and earth to nail it. Finally. This is a massive win for us, and pick 12 is seriously a bargain. Just think, with Clark on board, plus Watts, Howe, Green and Petterd, you have LJ with so much less pressure on him playing on the 3rd or 4th best defender. Unbelievable stuff from him next season I bet. Go Dees!

Now he has a year to prove that he has another one in him, otherwise I believe retirement is very near.
-
Given the company he was surrounded by up forward, that hardly deserves recognition. Clearly the coaches who votes for the B&F agreed.
-
He was only behind Davey in terms of output and leadership (although Davey is miles ahead for overall terrible output) Of this year's leadership group, the two vice captains came 1st and 2nd in the B&F, Jones came in top 5 and Grimes who barely played won the leadership award. The two glaring omissions were our two most senior leaders in Green and Davey. Now Davey was injured for much of the season and therefore was hardly going to figure in the votes (although that didn't stop Jamar or Frawley or Garland from polling well), but Green played all season and was woeful, and worst of all, his leadership was really lacking. Of course I think he should stay on in 2012 and I believe that he will, but it has to be on our terms, and it has to be without the leadership title.

I hate watching the Grand Final. I hate seeing other teams win. It kills me that I have never experienced that joy of a premiership. Grand Finals get harder and harder to take every year. But I love watching Collingwood lose, Eddie cry and Joel Selwood and Jimmy Bartel dominate. If we are not going to be there on the day, then at least I take comfort in knowing that Collingwood have gone there and failed.

So glad I slept through that pre-match entertainment!

Great film! I was mighty impressed with Jack Trengove's confidence and moves, and that is the only comment I'm going to make!
-
Don't know how much credibility Jack Watts has in his naked body suit, but he did say he spoke to Dangerfield today about Neil Craig and 'he's very excited'.
-
Great work by the MFC. Very happy to have secured someone senior and experienced with great knowledge to oversee a relatively young coaching staff. Suck on it Tom Scully, enjoy Kevin Sheedy, you [censored]!
-
Mine is very slow, but I am going to assume it's because Optus are crap.

Congratulations to Jordie McKenzie

Love! He is the sort of player that makes you proud to be a Melbourne supporter. -
The only problem I have is the time lag and slowness of trying to post/read on my iphone, which sucks because I pretty much only have time to read on the run.

How will I know when Neeld has been successful
Jaded No More replied to nutbean's topic in Melbourne Demons
When watching us play against the better teams doesn't leave me wanting to throw up. -
FMD, Melbourne supporters always find something to complain about! Collingwood missing their assistant coach heading into a GF? WHO THE HELL CARES?! Neeld was going to sign with Adelaide this weekend. What a pity we didn't play nice and let another club snare him.
-
Keep dreaming.
-
Freo are a hell of a lot more focused and professional than us it seems. They weren't even needing a coach and they got the best one around. Wonderful. Just wonderful.
-
I am far more furious, upset and dissolutioned about this than I was about Scully. Come on, we have had more time than anyone to get our coaching situation sorted and here we are, losing out to goddamn Freo. FFS where is the hope in supporting this club?
-
FML. I really want Lyon. What does Freo have to offer him that we can't?
-
And this is why 20 year olds shouldn't be given such ridiculous amounts of money, because they are too dumb and weak to make their own calls. If his parents pressured him to take the money then his parents clearly are more concerned about their welfare than his own. Great parents!
-
LOL! We've been building a list for 4 seasons now and we are still struggling because we are so physically immature. Scully will be lucky to play finals before his 6 year contract is up. Gold Coast with Gary Ablett won the spoon. Stop thinking that Scully left because he was unhappy with the club, he left because he saw the cash and had no loyalty to us to even attempt to turn it down. I got the chance to meet him a few weeks ago, and I could tell straight away that he felt nothing for this club. From talking to him and other players, even players who have had a tough year at the club, he seemed the most disconnected and least passionate. It is a goddamn privilege to pull on an MFC jumper, not a right, and if he doesn't feel that, then he certainly isn't worth the millions we were going to pay him. He'll fit right in with the rest of the no-name mercenaries at GWS.
