  1. Damn straight! I'll be 69 years young partying it up with my walking frame. It's gonna be epic.
  2. Gotta remember as well how good West Coast are at zoning and pressuring the ball carrier. They were one of the worst teams in the competition last year for foot skills. This year they carry the ball out of the congestion by hand and can spot up multiple targets up forward because they spread and cover the ground so well. We just have no structure, nothing. We look up and have nobody to kick to, either because nobody has run hard enough forward of the ball, or nobody is running hard enough to present. West Coast are smart, they have employed a zone defense to perfection and like other ordinary teams before them (Adelaide), have managed to climb up the ladder by breaking down teams and forcing them to turn the ball over. Will this style stand up in finals against top quality teams? possibly not, but I'd be happy to go from wooden spooners to top 4 finalists. Better than going from crap to slightly less crap with not a single defensive set up in place. Hopefully our next coach will spend the pre-season smashing our players into defensive submission!!!
  3. It's definitely been a one step forward two steps back kind of season. For every improver (e.g.- Martin), I can name two decliners (e.g.- Green, Jurrah, Morton, Davey). And really since hearing about Frawley's injury in January while on holidays in Bali, the season has completely spiraled out of control. Very disappointing that Grimes has lost yet another year of development, that our leadership group has again let us down badly, that Jamar, Bail, Davey, Garland, Scully and now Strauss suffered injuries, some horrific some just season derailing. We lost some very winnable games, including two early ones to North and St Kilda which would have all but guaranteed us a finals spot. We lost the plot and got absolutely smashed multiple times. We learnt nothing in the way of defense and playing under pressure or against a zone. We got our coach sacked after accomplishing a loss so big it got us into the record books (again), we went whole quarters without kicking a single goal, and entire quarters where our opposition ran around us like training cones. Many promising players took giant steps backwards, we've had the whole Scully saga hanging over us like a bad smell, and to top it all off, Stynes' health has declined. It's been a f*#%er of a season and improvement has been only minimal, and definitely limited to only a handful. If this season finished yesterday it would have been 14 rounds too late.
  4. He looked defeated. I felt sorry for him, but then I remembered how sorry I feel for myself having to watch us play like crap every week and I got over it
  5. I see your point, but lets be honest, he was on many occasions the only guy going in head first, without a single mate to help him. His disposals were rushed under enormous pressure and yes, they were average, but at least he was out there busting his balls, which is the only thing I actually want to see right now given the season is shot to [censored]. I'm not a big Jones fan and I think (hope) many others will pass him, but it was damn near embarrassing seeing him throw himself head first at contests while guys like Davey stood on the outside waiting for the easy handpass. Totally unacceptable, and he must feel cheated by his mates.
  6. I'm not feeling worse, I'm feeling the same level of disgust and general apathy today as I have for the past 4 weeks. As a whole this is the most disappointing, gut wrenching, heartbreaking season I can remember. Jack Trengove, Jack Watts, James Frawley, Jordie McKenzie and Jeremy Howe. 5 players that get me through nearly each week (and Grimes when he's alive), but not much else is right now.
  7. Stuffed if I know. Like I need more pain and misery in life. This is without doubt as low as I've ever felt as a Melbourne supporter, and by a mile too... and I watched every single game between 2007-2009.
  8. The Good Only 3 more games left of this awful season Howe. Love. The Bad Just about everything. We are woeful, embarrassing and pathetic at times. The Ugly How little I care about this club right now.
  9. 6- Howe (sensational) 5- Jones (killed himself time and time again. Shite user of the ball) 4- Frawley (kept Kennedy quiet and got involved. Needed to uppercut himself for some of his disposal decisions) 3- McDonald (great defensive game, but needs to stop trying to be superman) 2- Petterd (OK) 1- Garland (OK)
  10. I actually cannot be stuffed. I hope we don't make it and we seriously won't so it's irrelevant.
  11. It's hard because he is one of the very very few players who goes hard all the time but god he is terrible by foot. Top 4 teams don't carry players like Bartram. Sad but true.
  12. Different week same [censored]. Unbelievable how absolutely terrible we are. Leadership group woeful. Skills woeful. Fight woeful. Can this season just bloody end already!!!!
  13. AND we were in front at quarter time. I even took a photo of the scoreboard to prove it because it seemed so unbelievable to me. It was a good game, one of the highlights in a very very depressing season full of terrible loses.
  14. We got killed at the centre bounces last week, so if Jamar doesn't play and Cox does, we're in massive strife. Not that we aren't already. Why am I going again?
  15. What the hell would stop gays from raising a family if they had the same legal rights of other heterosexual couples via a civil union? I don't get your point about 'marriage' being disallowed, but civil unions being OK. WTF is the actual difference, the religious aspect?
  16. It's like I just drank 2lt of vodka and read the opening post and all the words jumbled up. Epic!
  17. My thoughts on the matter is that I DON'T GIVE A CRAP, and it's very sad that you are so engrossed in this whole thing that you're now starting a whole new argument about a comment some nobody made on some silly show a few weeks ago. So GWS approached Scully's management last year did they? Maybe those are just rumours circulated by management trying to raise Scully's price? or by GWS? or maybe they approached Tom's management and they never told Tom because they knew he didn't want to talk contracts. OMG GET ME THE HELL OUT OF THIS THREAD NOW!
  18. I choose not to spend all day every day fretting about what decision some 19 year old kid is going to make, because I have a life and more important things to worry about. Put it into perspective for god's sake and stop lying on the floor in the fetal position crying yourself to sleep every night while pulling your hair out and sucking your thumb. It will all be alright, and even if it's not, you can't do sh*t about it. Writing 10,000 posts a week about how Scully is a liar, how everyone's rumoured mail must be right despite lack of evidence and chest beating like a trained monkey is not actually helping the situation. Trengove can see many reasons to stay at Melbourne and I believe that so does Scully. If he chooses to chase after a bigger pay packet than good luck to him, but money does not buy you happiness or success, and Tom will have to live with that for the rest of his career. That is his worry and not yours.
  19. WTF do you choose to believe every idiot and his dog but not Scully? It's sick, it really is. P.S.- I want to punch myself in the face everytime I skim (read: scroll) through any Scully-related thread.
  20. There are quite a few people in this thread who just need to get a life. FFS, don't you people work/ sleep/ socialise/ eat/ have sex? Find something else to do and stop preoccupying yourselves with Tom Scully. It's unhealthy and frankly it's pointless. If he wants to go he will, if he wants to say, he will. At least journalists writing rubbish about it are getting paid for it, you lot are actually just spending your time writing meaningless crap for nothing!
  21. You never explained why, if in your opinion the point of marriage is to procreate, is it OK for heterosexual couples to get married and not procreate (we're talking by choice obviously), but it's not OK for gay couples to do so? Besides, I find the whole notion of marriage being a sacrade union as utter crap. That notion went out the window when people start getting divorced as often as they changed their underpants. Or when people started getting married for self serving reasons like getting citizenship, or money. Even putting aside your unsubstantiated notion that kids are better off with heterosexual parents (has this ever been actually proven by anyone on a large scale? Because for every unhappy kid growing up with gay parents I can find you 20 unhappy kids growing up with straight parents), it still has no barrings on your very contradictory views about gay marriage. I know you understand that being gay is not choice, and yet you still find it acceptable that gay people don't have the same equal rights as those who are born heterosexual. That's almost like saying that if you are born with black skin you are different and should have different rights to those born with white skin. Both are silly notions that completely dismiss the individual characteristics of people and makes broad judgements based purely on one genetic trait. If you love someone you should be able to marry them. If you want children and have the emotional, physical and financial means to support them, you should be able to have them. Race, religion, ethnicity and sexuality should never be an issue, and in fact, apart from sexuality none of those are in modern day society.
  22. Never good when they open you then close you right back up again! This world is just [censored] up. Talk about someone who deserves this sort of crap less. Fingers and toes crossed that he keeps on fighting and somehow gets better.
  23. My bench preference: Blease, McKenzie, Morton, Petterd I actually think Nicholson needs a rest. McDonald should debut at the G next week
  24. Sure did! We actually ended up ordering nearly everything on the sampling/sharing menu, and it wasn't expensive at all (we did not have the pig thank you), and the atmosphere was great even though it was extremely busy. Probably one of my recent favourites, along with New Market in St Kilda which is more pricey but just as delicious (great cocktails too!)
  25. Absolutely 100% spot on. I worked in childcare for years and I can tell you from first hand experience how many fwit parents there are in the world. Parents who don't want their kids, and who certainly don't know how to raise them. And there are millions of orphaned and abused children in the world who would be better off with loving homosexual parents, and if given the choice would absolutely jump at the chance of having loving parents, regardless of their gender. Are you against mixed race or faith marriages? Does it bother you if people of different religions get married? Because gay marriage is exactly the same. I have a very close friend who recently came out and it would break my heart if in the future he gets denied the right to marriage and a family if he chooses to have one, because he would be a brilliant father and partner and nobody has the right to take that away from him.
