Right now, either Beamer or JT are locks for captain next year based on his media work. He's been so, so, so bad at it, it's really odd from a guy who has generally been pretty good in the past with post-match interviews and such.
-
Honestly, I'm pretty bleh about having missed this one. I've been to the most games I've ever been to in a season this year, I'm going to at least 2, possibly 3 more and so missing one just because I know we're going to get flogged doesn't really annoy me.
-
I'll admit, I couldn't be stuffed. I was buggered after work all week and watching the Tour every night, and slept until midday or so Sunday then had stuff to get done and a hangover to get over! But I did listen to the first 10 mins of the game, and when it turned out just as I expected it to I switched off. Wasn't worth my afternoon listening to the Dees get thumped again by ten goals.
-
Feel really bad for saying this, but after 10mins of listening to the game I switched off. It was all Hawthorn's way and I could already tell what result was coming. I just could not be arsed listening to yet another 10 goal thumping. Yeah, fairweather maybe, but isn't anyone else just sick of us failing to turn up at all against quality opposition?

The Good Cadel winning the TDF The Bad Knowing what the result would be 10mins in The Ugly My complete apathy after 10mins towards the game Goddamn, I am sick of these losses.
-
Yeah it was superb. He's totally deserved it this year - he's attacked and really pushed hard all the way, hasn't let anyone dictate terms to him.

National holiday? Grew up watching this thing. Watching Pantani and his drugs, watching O'Grady in yellow, Lance and the 7, Contador climb and climb. I was shattered in 2008. Now I've watched him win. Congratulations Cadel Evans - winner of the 2011 Tour de France (touch wood)

Don't tell me THAT. I seem to recall that Schleck isn't great at time trials? Thought Cadel could take a minute out of Contador if need be, and more out of Schleck (1min30). That said, after 2008 I don't trust anything. If he says that he just didn't feel good again after failing, he officially goes down as the biggest choker I have ever seen in sport.

I must admit, I find interesting the Jeff White upgrade thing - I knew we traded pick 2 and the upgrade for him, but didn't know about the pick 5 issue. That seriously muddies the waters over what is fair compensation for a #1 draft pick early in their career. Legal types - is there any sort of legal recourse over this? Curious whether there's some sort of way for sporting rules disagreements between club and lawmaker to be sorted.
-
Well he's been named. I like it as a tactical option, if he can fire. Should stretch the Hawks backline a bit with both him and JW4 running round.
-
Not hard to find IIRC, we stumbled upon it walking from one of the stations up to Notre Dame
-
Teams made the rules? Go through that panel again. I believe not every team sat on the panel (Richmond being the notable one, as Gary March did raise a stink in the media about the rules) and some of the requests of the teams were ignored (one of which was to have players coming out of their draftee contract to be excluded from being targeted by GC/GWS) by the AFL. It does stink. Especially the GWS stuff. Gold Coast I really have no problem with as there is the genuine basis for a team there, with genuine support and local backing. GWS, on the other hand...
-
Yeah, but would they give up Hannebury for him? It'd be a great trade though.
-
Quote my father NATHAN JONES I LOVE YOUR BALD HEAD
-
Worst comes to worst, if you have decent internet grab a stream of ESPNUK if the game would be on 7 at home
-
Waited too long already, bye Cale, enjoy GWS.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JACK VINEY

He's already training at MFC from what I understand and they'll try to bulk him somewhat both end of this year and end of next year. -
What about Boak? Noticed he was mentioned in another thread - he fits into our target age margin (he's 23 this year, younger than Martin and Dunn), quality (unfortunately copping the best tag in an otherwise-terrible Port midfield) and almost certainly would like to move.
-
Just a quick note on JT: Wonder how he's going to personally feel if TS goes. He's gone in to bat for Tom the most of any player this year IIRC, and probably the most of anyone at the club. He's really stuck his neck out for Tom, over and over again. If Tom goes, would he see it as a betrayal of all this trust that he's put in Tom?

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BILLY STRETCH

I'm going to take an outright punt at this...will probably get it wrong... Trengove Tapscott Jamar and I reckon there's one more but dunno who...4? -
Was Bartram emergency against Port? Noticed that he didn't play for Casey, and if he wasn't in the Top End....curious.
-
I reckon Ranga has the goods to take on Mitchell. We've thrown him against good mids recently and he does a good job on them if he can match them speed-wise. Putting him on Rioli he'd get out-streaked, but on Mitchell he'd do damn well. My one to consider would be: OUT: Morton IN: Bennell The thing with Morton is that he doesn't offer much defensively. I contrast this with Bennell, who does superbly on the small mid/forward type - like Krakouer. Put him on Rioli. Big Jack is a tough matchup for the Hawks, that'll be interesting. Finally, for Hodge I like the Petterd idea. More to the point, Petterd is coming back to his dangerous best, as seen last week, and he creates the opportunity for a 2on1 if we stick him on Hodge. Do that and play around him, would be very effective.

I fell into that trap too. Admittedly it was because we were playing some decent footy. First game I've left well before the final siren, that one.
