Close to starting a third TS thread?

Okay. I'd suggest that the objective for the season was improvement on 2010. Not necessarily finals, but certainly a couple more wins. So, probably ten wins is a reasonable objective. Right now, we need to win four remaining games to make that mark. We play Port twice, Richmond and Gold Coast. The toughest of these, undoubtedly, is Port at AAMI. I'd suggest if we win all four of those DB will be reappointed, hopefully only on a 1year extension. Furthermore, if we manage to grab a 5th win from one of the Hawks, Blues, Cats or Eagles then I'd suggest that he is absolutely going to get reappointed. That's simply the cold reality of it. I've warmed to DB amazingly this year, didn't rate him until this year but I think he does have tactical nous - and the comparisons to Geelong circa 2004 seem to be pretty apt. If he does not, as above I'd love Roos, but any of those listed in the poll, plus Sanderson and Richardson, would all be doable. TV I'm not sure would go for it because of JV. Finally, the other interesting one is Neil Craig. If possible, I'd bring him in as director of the FD with a mentoring role for a coach.

IN: Tapscott, Davey, Joel Macdonald OUT: Morton, Bennell, Blease Nicho or Tapscott to be sub. Morton: I'm banging on the same drum, but goddamn he offers nothing. Bennell: Slightly unlucky, but he really offers a pinch role right now - he's great against those dangerous small-forward types (Krakouer, Nahas, Betts etc) but gets smashed by anyone throwing their body around. Port don't have one so this is more of a tactical move. Blease: Unfortunate, but will get another go, I'm sure.

Yeah, finding the match engine is total rubbish. Not even bothering, just simming the games, but the backroom stuff is great. Now if I could only get the Dees to win...

Trawling through the internet and found this game...Premiership Coach 2011. Seems to be an attempt at an AFL version of Football Manager. I'm downloading it now, but wondering if anyone else has it and has thoughts? EDIT: Wasn't sure if this belonged in here btw, mods feel free to move if you feel it is off-topic.

Bull to return in Darwin possibly? Ooh...

I picked Roos from the above, but I think if we get 10 wins then Bailey should receive a 1year extension with further extension based on making finals.

Trying not to post in here desperately, but just to clarify... http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/regret-at-clubs-signing-off-on-list-allowances-for-expansion-clubs/story-e6frf9jf-1226085179344

In non-Tom news, I've slept 18 of the last 19 hours and am crook as.

Probably booking my snow weekend for the first weekend in September - thoughts? (Also, I try not to post in the He Who Must Not Be Mentioned thread now - it's just going in circles!)

Last time I missed bloody Martin too. Always end up in that situation. Admittedly, it's freaking hard to pick a 22 right now!

Just to those that quoted me above... - The player HAS to nominate to be eligible to be taken with those picks. O'Meara, by all reports, wants to stay in WA. He will only be available if a WA club gets one of those picks. - GWS are struggling far more than Gold Coast to attract talent. Yes, while they have two bites at the cherry, they also have the problem of trying to win a game. You can't win games with 18 kids, Callum Ward, Taylor Walker, Israel Folau and (possibly) Tom Scully. GC needed all of their older brigade, plus the kids, to fire to get them over the line in both games. They struggle with four-quarter consistency with AFL experience. Unless they get a significant few in, I doubt they will have the goods, hence them using those picks to try and grab more established AFL players. - While I know they're not great, Bate and Dunn both do have the bigger bodies needed. Bate is far more likely, and I'll use the Brad Miller example - they'll use him to take the heat off Patton and the kiddie forward line. Won't work 100%, but it's better than nothing. Dunn could be similar. As for 16 other teams, let's look. - Hawthorn, Carlton, Collingwood, Geelong still in a flag window and won't go there as it risks them losing a couple of big guns. - Freo, Sydney trying to bring in that window. - Essendon, Richmond have even less currency than us. - North are in a similar position to us but with less in the way of those fringe players. - Adelaide and Port don't have any currency beyond draft picks. - Bullies are probably form and a piece or two away from being back in top 4 contention in 2012. - Gold Coast may trade kids for one? Would need to send a few though. - West Coast could use some of the older brigade to make a deal - IMO more likely to make a move, especially for O'Meara - Brisbane do have some currency in my opinion - send a Rockliff and their first-rounder south? Would extend their rebuild though. - St Kilda would have to send two guns in order to - question of whether they would.
-
Replace Sylvia with Scully in virtually every sentence and the whole thread still works. Anyway... - If he wants to go due to lack of a deal, he has to be traded or go to GWS. GWS can't take Scully AND Sylvia in free agency so that means that one will probably stay. - If GWS take Scully and MFC can't agree a deal, he can nominate for the pre-season, where he'd almost certainly end up at GWS anyway. I reckon he'll stay. There are 'attitude issues' with him that other clubs will frown on due to his chequered past. Of the non-GWS teams, you'd only be looking at a Freo/Sydney/Aints middle band that might want him - but I doubt it. Sydney aren't going to make their list challenge for a flag by adding Sylvia. Freo, when fit, are in better shape without him. Aints already have brilliance in the middle so he'd be a 23rd man.
-
You're forgetting that GWS cannot use those picks. They HAVE to be traded. For two senior players, both with 6-7 years left? I reckon they'd do that.

Saturday, 2.10pm, TIO Stadium (Darwin) Melbourne B: Bartram, Frawley, Garland HB: Nicholson, Rivers, Tapscott C: Gysberts, Moloney, Trengove HF: Scully, Watts, Howe F: Jurrah, Jamar, Green R: Martin, Sylvia, Jones Int: Blease, Bennell, Morton Sub: Evans The Bye B: Booze Bus, Couch, Physio Time HB: Holiday, Relations with the Missus, Studying C: Long drive, Partying, Footy Show HF: Radio Stint, Twitter, Family Time F: Rollercoaster, Facebook, Relaxation R: Friends, McDonalds, Round of Golf Int: Work experience, Remote Communities, Tiwi Islands Sub: Sin Bin Recent form for The Bye has not been as good, with Collingwood getting up. The question is whether Melbourne can turn it around - The Bye's recent addition to their forwardline in Rollercoaster has been sensational in his debut season.
-
My trades: Bate & Dunn to GWS for their 3rd round pick and a 17 year old pick That's it so far. Depends on what happens with the 800 pound gorilla in the room as to whether we need to remove a third player from the list or not.

Nah, I find Gibbs provides that dangerous rebounding half-back, which I rate far higher than that floating forward-of-mid midfielder who doesn't really seem to do much except kick the occasional goal and handball around the clearances. Admittedly, I do watch for the rebound a lot more but still...just find to be a player who can almost anonymously pick up 30 touches. Reminds me a bit of Scotty West, really.
-
Funnily enough, not far off what I think. Don't rate him. Yes, I know in outright terms he is a number 1 draft pick, he is a lynchpin. But. I don't know that he's penetrating enough. I rate Bryce Gibbs far higher than Murphy, who I feel can simply go through games picking up touches but not make any impact.
-
Fantastic. I'd listen in, but I'll be at work.
-
I'd complain. I hate all the advertising of the punt both at the game and in the media. Family of addicts to various things, so I figure I'm susceptible and try to stay the hell away from it. Doesn't always work, but when I have a flutter generally it's either MFC related or Cup day. For them to even offer, let alone give it to your kids is terrible. They're already bombarded with ads, that just makes it far worse.
-
Every time we lose your woman gets 6. Tell her to stop performing, the boys might be less distracted and we'll win more!
-
McKenzie, Petterd, Sam Blease had a decent debut considering.
-
One of the few lights tonight.
-
That kick he made to Sylvia was sensational.
-
Still better than bloody Morton tonight, nevertheless wasn't great. Bennell's issue is he's very one-dimensional. Bit like Warnock - slot him into a specific role and he'll execute to perfection, but outside that he's generally poor.
