Mature age, you mean Liam Jurrah right? Mature age is only useful in a couple of cases to fill a specific role. See Nick Duigan, JPod. These are sides challenging for top 4/premiership status, not up and coming and bulging with youth. Mzungu, too, Freo are pushing for top4 but they aren't doing as well as they thought. I understand your point, but I think it's only really handy for those sides who need a hole filled.

Quality bump. My pass is still 10 wins - still doable.

Don't think they'll go for Rocket. For me, it's still Laidley or Choco.

Acutally first-year history at uni, need it to finish my damn major.

rpfc, could you repost without the Geelong game? Maybe at the end of the season? Got a feeling without the Geelong 'outlier' we would be far closer to a few of last year's marks.

Been awhile since i posted in here...anyone want to write my essay for me? Don't really feel like researching the Russian Revolution (communists don't have enough blue in 'em)

I still reckon we'd be stupid not to look at Sanderson. The contenders in my mind are: MM (regardless of what people say about his FAMILY not wanting him to coach, HE DOES) Neeld (will also be a contender for the Crows job) Sanderson (overlooked last year at the Cattery because they wanted someone outside the club to take on the senior coaching role) Laidley (wants a Melbourne-based job and seems to be sniffing around it) Of those four, I think it'll be either MM or Laidley. And honestly...I hope it's Laidley. While his trade record is undoubtedly poor, others around him (primarily Prendergast, who with what he's uncovered will definitely stay) will aid him in the right direction for that. His club record is good - yes, no flag, but who the heck expected North to challenge for a flag with that list? - and he has built a very good young list at North which he simply didn't get the chance to meld.

Carlton in Pagan's last years made the VFL look good because of a lot of the salary cap breach stuff, remember that. Nevertheless, agree on the too-long-out-of-the-game stuff.

Nope. Turn Howe into a Jack Riewoldt type, combined with Watts playing a Nick Riewoldt role, then park a bulked Cook or Fitz in the goal square. Don't need him, seriously.

We all have come out every year for the past few and hope that they lock the kids in gym for the summer. I've got a slightly different idea. We need to lock Bartram, Jones, Morton (if he stays) and Warnock in with a skills specialist. Work on kicks, target hitting, that sort of stuff. Put them into early match practice if possible in order to get them game time to practice their decision making. Jones especially, if he can get it right he'll be deadly.

I'm over this season. I've spent the afternoon listening to us play like rubbish on SEN and trying to write an essay. Still more entertaining than watching us get flogged by 8 goals AGAIN.

The Good Howe The Trenners flyer Frawley Joel Mac The third quarter The Bad The second quarter Davey Bartram by foot Russian probably playing hurt The Ugly SEN bringing up Martin's contract status every 2.6 seconds Morton, 20 in front.

Striker475 replied to mrtwister's topic in Melbourne Demons
Someone voted for Craig =/ Laidley for me, although Sanderson or McCartney would both be wholly acceptable. -
New deals for Tapscott, Trenners, Maximus, Evans and Nicho. [censored] yeah.
-
Compo idea: tank 2012, get pick 1, use compo for pick 2 and end of first-round pick, use the third pick on JV and the first two on players

Demons Bank on Major Lift Some of the gloom around the Melbourne Football Club off the field is expected to be lifted soon with the announcement of a new major sponsorship. And the word is strong it will be an ideal marriage, at least in name. We've heard the new sponsor of Melbourne will be the Bank of Melbourne. Demons chief executive Cameron Schwab said last week the club was on the verge of announcing by far the biggest sponsorship deal in its history. The deal is believed to include naming rights to either the front or back of the jumper for $1.9million a year. Bank of Melbourne chief executive Scott Tanner said last week signing a major sponsorship deal with a top Melbourne sports team was a priority. Just a thought after noting his Casey quality... Why not push to get Warnock and someone (probably Bate) to GWS for a 17 year old? Warnock's primed, he's playing well at all levels, and while his disposal isn't great he nevertheless performs well 80-90% of the time. GWS are going to need a big-bodied fullback to handle things for 2-3 years, and he's got to be a target surely.
