  1. I'd take him any day. Did a great job in a terrible situation at North and built the list that Scott now has.
  2. Key being our home game. Carlton home game is a different kettle of fish. MCC will stay about the same, but far more Carlton supporters will show. And context is more based off other reports of the Hawthorn game, where people said we would have been lucky to have 10k.
  3. I think the AFL mandates that you have to nominate a captain, if only for the AFL media events and such
  4. CFC home game, say 40k Carlton MFC maybe 10k if lucky 50k or so
  5. Doesn't he have a development job at GWS?
  6. Look at the over 23 group though (using '87 as cutoff) Green - essence of the problem Davey - not much better Moloney - Loves the club, onfield leader though? Jamar - Great teacher, will be a great ruck coach, but don't know about actual leadership Warnock - not playing enough Rivers - Not really sure Sylvia - Onfield form issues Joel Mac - Not playing enough Martin - Only just broken out Dunn - oh god that mo' Newton - hahahahahahahahahahahahaha Campbell - Hasn't even played Bate - can't get a game Not exactly awe-inspiring.
  7. So fingers crossed that he makes more money than SoG I presume? (Davis has reportedly signed a contract worth $750k/year for 5 years - don't know how many of those GWS can afford!)
  8. I like the white headband idea...trip to Rebel Sport might be in order.
  9. I want Trenners in. Every time the club has been questioned, who has stood up? JT Every time the players have been asked about the Scully situation, who has responded? JT The hardest, most controversial act by a Melbourne player this year? JT The one who, even when he is struggling within a game, never stops putting in 100%? JT I want Jack Trengove to be held up as the example for others to follow. He doesn't drop his head, hedoesn't stop running, he keeps pushing even when he isn't having an impact on the game. Especially compared to those who have been at the club far longer, he has been a shining light. (I would say Frank, but his injury record does not endear itself)
  10. forgive me for them wanting to show something after last week and Carlton labelling us bruise-free earlier this year?
  11. Who gives a rats if we get one-week suspensions this week? We're going to lose next week anyway. I want Mitch Robinson knocked out. I want blood. I want Lynden Dunn to snipe for the fun of it. I want Bull to run over a few Carlton players a la Savage, Shaw. I want Carlton's sub activated by the end of the first quarter.
  12. Everyone's thinking it but noone's saying it. The player that GWS are absolutely set to take from Melbourne. Rated extremely highly. Known for his quality disposal. Played quite a few good games for Melbourne early in his career. Struggling to get a game at the minute, but once he sorts himself out will be awesome. The one. The only. Cale Morton.
  13. Current form suggests the biggest danger game is actually GC Richmond yes - no Newman anymore Port yes - headless chickens have more coherence
  14. Don't understand why he still does it. Especially with McLardy - who by all accounts has done an outstanding job as acting President - able to take over the reins. Everyone would understand if he stepped aside to actually get his health right and noone would begrudge it. Lot of non-MFC people think we have one of the best boards running around, he should utilise it and remove himself from as much of the day-to-day as possible to get himself right.
  15. Simple. Replay the video of Mitch Robinson suggesting that we play bruise-free footy. Follow up with a pointed 'if you don't tackle, you don't win, and if you don't win, you don't play for the MFC under me.' Demand nothing but contested footy all the time.
  16. Poetic justice: knock Carlton out then take their coach off their hands?
  17. Choco. Dealt with it all at Port. Sponsors trying to undermine him, a board still unsure on him when they were consistently minor premiers, successful and proven. Furthermore, the deterioration at Port financially meant that he had to take on more and more as he went, something that wouldn't necessarily happen at Melbourne.
  18. Saw that, we're virtually going to fall in and get smacked by WCE based on that
  19. More I think about it, more I want Laidley. - He did good things with a poor Kangas list and setup (dug the Arden St ice bath himself IIRC) - He was told by the club not to tank as the club literally could not afford the associated costs - He still managed to build the basis of a list that is now one of the better young lists in the AFL with names like Ziebell, Bastinac and Swallow in addition to the old guard of Wells, Harvey etc. - He only left when it was thought no more could be done (Scott's resurrection of the list has probably shown otherwise now) - He still wants to coach (applied at Essendon last year)
  20. There's a long line in front of GT for the job If we wanted all the prickness of Thomas with coaching ability as well we may as well grab Choco
  21. I'd take Mark Williams every day of the week.
  22. Probably Wouldn't it be amazing if we could lawyer Collingwood at their own game
  23. Reckon you're right. Nothing in AFL rules prevents it. You sack a coach then tell him he can't work for another club...hrm
  24. The whisper comes in from the trees... It is a quiet sound, a forgotten one.... It is a sound that has been muted by the internet, by tales of arguments.... Yet the sound can be heard And it rings true.... Laidley..... Laidley..... Dean Laidley...
  25. More I think about it, more I want Laidley to be seriously considered
