It's infuriating that 'team played for' seems to have become one of the criteria for selection.

I don't think it was necessarily the wrong thing to do when we moved him on but my sentiment was that we should keep him. He may not have survived the Neeld years anyway, however I think if he was still with us, he'd be a handy player. If Leppitsch can get this out of him, there's no reason Roos (one of the best coaches of the modern era) wouldn't be.

Nice idea for a thread, h_h. Jetta would almost have it locked down but I think Nathan Jones deserves a special mention for taking his game to a genuine A grade level. As of last night he is number one in the league for total disposals (610, 27.7 per game), third in total clearances, first in total effective handballs and fourteenth in both total tackles and total contested possessions. His season has probably gone under the radar a little because we are now used to his steady improvement and consistency but boy, do I have a lot of love for this man. No one more deserving of the captaincy and I'd think he has the Bluey all stitched up.

At 122kg I wouldn't call Sandilands a 'bean pole' ruckman. Leuenburger is a sturdy 102kg and our own Max is 111kg - again, not a size I'd call 'bean pole'. They may appear slightly slimmer because they are taller but the players you've mentioned aren't much smaller - 202cm, 199cm and 198cm. In the scheme of things, a few centimetres and kilograms aren't worth much. At the end of the days Max is just more injury prone than most of the other ruckmen in the league.

I'd have to agree with this. Nevertheless, the standard of umpiring is horrid. I also think the interpretation of the holding the ball rule has changed mid season as it doesn't seem as though they are giving as many frees for that rule.

I read it fine the first time and as I said, if we requested some sort of compensation for his performance they wouldn't pay us any attention. The AFL have created a monster that devours clubs like us and they can't stop it now.

Not a chance. They won't pay us any attention and how on earth do you prove that? We'll be getting an after first pick compensation, which is more than what he is worth in my opinion.

There's a whole lot of 'apparently' in these scenario's. I think it's possible that the AFL may deny us the priority pick but guarantee we get a top band compensation for Frawley, considering their recent stance on the PP. It'd look bad for them granting us one and there'd doubtless be comments from other clubs about it.

Wagner does look a great prospect. Foster has really been impressive for me though - awesome athleticism and physicality for a guy his size who's come from volleyball.

Now we should replace him with Bradie Foster from The Recruit!

Ridiculous. Winning far outweighs the feel in the locker room - that can be constructed with any kind of playing list. First you need good players and this proves that we aren't even at level 1 yet.

I used to have some sort of feeling toward the players but right now, I don't really care who we put on the table, as long as it makes us a better side.

And you can bet your bottom dollar that the Purple Headed Warrior will write an article opposing it.

I don't know if I'll be able to keep my sanity if I have to watch Jack Watts for another 3 or 4 years before he becomes a reasonable player. Someone will have to be tasked with keeping the sharps away from me!
