  1. The opposite to what I said would be if Roosy said 'A third year definitely is not an option'...
  2. Just took a well deserved break at work to listen to Roosy. Here's a light summary of what I heard and my interpretations: -It sounds as though Roos is the perfect blend of nurturing but hard. He spoke about the players confidence with KB, about how the early days down there were really about chatting to the players as a mate, doing weights with them and so on to gauge their self esteem and confidence levels. Since then he's been building them with each player and spoke about how over the preseason and next year he'll apply more pressure to them. -KB asked about a mark for the season. Roosy explained how they didn't have KPI's in terms of wins (heard this before) but that they were aiming to be competitive, which has definitely been achieved. Mentioned that he was a bit disappointed that we'd dropped off since about round 15 but consistency before that was great. -KB met Watts and Jones at a function recently, was extremely impressed with the way they represented the club. -KB mentioned the J. Cameron rumor and this was an interesting one. What was said will probably be interpreted differently by each person but I think Roosy aptly avoided the question. He went into a discussion about people are constantly talking to players management (etc) but his definitive statement seemed to be 'I'm not aware of any contact, direct or indirect'. My sentiment after hearing this is that we have been in contact with him. -KB asked about Frawley. Roosy basically just said that he 'doesn't know' and said that Chip himself 'doesn't know'. He did go on to discuss free agency and the system in the NRL, more so about players continuing to play for a club after signing with another. His final statement here was along the lines of 'player should be invested in the club 100%, if not may as well leave'. I thought this was interesting. -Spoke about the 3rd year at the Demons. Said he hasn't thought about it too much, which sounded genuine. If provided with a deadline for a decision he said he'd sit down with the family and discuss it but at this point I believe personally that a third year is a given. - He then went on to discuss Cameron Ling vs Malthouse (lost interest a bit) and the aesthetics of the game these days. His opinion was along the lines of - talent spread thinly due to so many teams, players that definitely wouldn't have got a game twenty years ago are playing these days. Hope that helps!
  3. Rumour has it? He probably got his information from Demonland.
  4. If this club is serious about improving it will retain players who improve, as Watts has this season. It's unbelievable that people direct annoyance at Roos for constantly defending Watts. He knows what Watts' KPI's and goals on the field are and clearly Watts must be doing what he has been asked to do. In my eyes he's definitely improved this season and clearly Roos can see a whole lot more than us.
  5. I believe Michie, Kennedy-Harris, Blease and Clisby are all possibilities for this week although we won't have four changes. Personally I'd like to see Clisby back in the firsts and it sounds as though he hasn't done much wrong for Casey. Surely Blease has earned his call up.
  6. Our firsts team would obviously be dominant at VFL level, simply because the gap is huge and growing.
  7. For some people, draft selection will always have a bearing on a players performance. In terms of pick 14's since the draft began I'd bet Grimes would be considered a success in terms of games played.
  8. Cameron would be brilliant to have, but another solid tall forward (even just an up and comer like Levi Casboult) would be a very handy addition. Another classy young mid would also be great but I think the real improvement will come with adding a few hard working, hard running types that lift the standard of the bottom six players in the team. You're only as good as your bottom six.
  9. James Frawley signs on for 4 more years. Now that's bold.
  10. Anyone see in the paper today under 'The Whisper', the following message: 'Is footy's oldest club planning recruiting revenge with a raid on one of the game's brightest young stars?' Jeremy Cameron, anyone?
  11. I think that what you've described there is exactly what we need in the middle right now. I would have to concur on rjay on this one. Jack Watts however, he's tailor made for the half back flank/wing role that he seems to be playing occasionally.
  12. I'm sure h_h considered his contribution a well informed, weighted argument.
  13. Is he really a vegan? His size will be due to reducing the risk of major injuries, in particular stress related injuries to his back. The more weight he carries, the more stress upon his spine and vertebrae. A vegan can still get the required amounts of protein (and other nutrients) to put on as much muscle as needed, especially (if the veganism is true) as he probably works with the dietitian more so than any other player.
  14. Let's hope we get in there before them then!
  15. I had that feeling too, until probably the Freo loss. Now they look tired and their belief has fallen away. I think we'll beat one of GWS or Brisbane and that will be it for this year. It's a long, long road back from where the players were, to where they need to believe they can be.
  16. Give it a rest mate. What do you think your constant fatalistic posts about it will change? Everyone here knows that Wines is obviously a better player than Toumpas - there's nothing can be done other than to move on.
  17. He'll definitely receive a few more frees if Selwood mentors him.
  18. Positives: -Probably would have been 186 mk 2 under Neeld. -Jack Viney. -Aidan Riley showing a bit. Negatives: -The usual standard of umpiring we've come to expect. -Pretty much every player aside from the two mentioned above. Special mention to Jamar's ruck work. -Bernie Vince's haircut.
  19. I'd have rathered McLean over Gysberts though - we all thought we got an absolute bargain. God, hindsight is a terrible thing.
  20. True about Tapscott. The only explanation I can think of (barring an injury to Jetta) is that Roos wants to see as much of Tapscott before the end of the year so that he can make an informed decision on his delisting, which appears inevitable at the moment.
  21. His evasion has really impressed me today, which is great to see. Solid work in close - looks like we may have another inside midfielder!
