  1. This is my first year as a member, for reasons to do with proximity to the G' and finances. In any case, I am on board this year and will be going to the game on Saturday. I will be, however, taking two non-members with me. I do hope to talk them into a membership, but that is besides the point at the moment. 1) I just wanted to confirm that I can use my membership to get into the game for free but still sit in a general admission area. 2) It is a basic membership package, so I also wanted to know which members' areas this got me into, and which it didn't (e.g., reserved setting). 3) Also, where is the "best" (subjective I know) place to sit for members? I've always (as a general admission) sat on the 3rd level directly behind the goals, which is a great view point. However, as I can access member only areas, wanted to get a feel for the best spots (even if I won't utilise them this week). Thanks in advance for you help.
  2. The forwards just need to work together more coherently. Too many occasions where all of the fowards jump at the ball, with the usual result being a collision between the players and a dropped mark... Let Clark be the focal point, and if he is being double teamed, kick it to another forward. Not really rocket science is it?
  3. dees best and fairest? - Jones dees best 1st year player? - Clark (or Magner if Clark does not qualify, though he is a 1st year player for the Dee's) goals clark will kick? - 47 games jurrah will play? - 6 dees surprise of the year? - Beat an interstate team away (excluding Port @ Darwin) premiers?- Hawthorn first coach to get sacked? - none this year biggest off field controversy? - Not sure anything will top Jurrah games won by gws? - 2
  4. Good to hear, really hope to see him back mid-season; giving him time to deal with court and recover from his injuries. He is a massively important cog in the team, and he will be missed in opening part of season.
  5. Should hit 30,000 mid week I reckon. Can't wait til Saturday, go Dee's.
  6. Massive bandwagon event Kony was, need to do a little bit of research for yourself before you jump to conclusions. This is probably worth reading: http://www.news.com.au/world/wife-kony-2012-director-suffers-from-psychosis/story-e6frfkyi-1226306870022 http://www.abc.net.au/news/2012-03-18/uganda-responds-to-kony-2012-video/3896476 http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/blogpost/post/invisible-childrens-stop-kony-campaign/2012/03/07/gIQA7B31wR_blog.html?wprss=blogpost http://blogs.independent.co.uk/2012/03/07/stop-kony-yes-but-dont-stop-asking-questions/ http://tv.globalresearch.ca/2012/03/us-launches-pr-campaign-ugandan-oil-intervention http://www.invisiblechildren.com.s3-website-us-east-1.amazonaws.com/critiques.html
  7. Well in that case, I wasn't mistaken and the numbers have jumped up by 1000 today!

  9. I think I misread this morning and it was always 28, 267 not 27, 267 hence the confusion.
  10. http://membership.melbournefc.com.au/ This seems to be most up to date site. RPFC is right, I wouldn't be surprised if we reach close to 40,000 this year on the back of Jim's passing. The drop in 2013 will be telling.
  11. I think it will lead to an increase in numbers, and I wouldn't be surprised if some non-MFC supporters buy a membership even.
  12. I think the boys need to just take a bit of Jimmy's spirit and endeavour into what they do in life (including outside of footy). It's not about using the emotion to beat a team every team, including those who are simply better then us (at the moment). It's about having a crack each game and putting in everything you've got, leaving no stone unturned in your efforts to beat the opposition. The club will probably lose more games than it wins this year (perhaps 50/50 if we have a good year), but I can swallow a lost if they give it everything they've got.
  13. I look around these days and have this sad sense that the people of the world are so lost; troubled souls who have forgotten the connection between us all and who get so caught up in the trivial, materialistic nature of modern man, that they are unable to appreciate the beauty of life itself. Stynes was the anti-thesis to this; he radiates so many wonderful traits, not of least kindness, compassion, dignity, selflessness, hope, and his good ol' fighting spirit. He is a man whom we can look to when we need to be reminded of what it should mean to be human. A wonderful man who will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.
  14. Agree with RPFC, let's let 2012 season actually get underway before we hit the panic button (again).
  15. I would have preferred to see him play; really want to watch him closely this year.
  16. I have gone for 12th but I think 10th - 12th is realistic. It is hard to gauge though, had a very mixed pre-season and Sylvia and Jurrah not playing first month+ hurts. First 5 games are important, would hope to be around 3-2 or 4-1 (best case scenario).
  17. In response to main OP question... I've said it before, but I'll reiterate that I am confident that the new coaching group will get the very best out of this list of players. However, I do not think the best from this list is going to be near good enough. Our recruiting over the last few years has been average at best, with a few players in the TBC basket at the moment. We need to inject some real talent into the group via trading (ala Clark) and the draft (Viney is a great start). We also need some of our current crop to really step it up, as the output from Green, Davey, Moloney, Sylvia, and co. is inconsistent and usually not up to scratch. Players like Watts, Trengove, Frawley, Gysberts, Jones etc will need to become our core (I think RPFC used the term Flagcore for this). I expect us to have a mildly better season than last, probably about 9-10 wins and to finish around 10th - 12th. This is a disappointing prospect in some respects, as we have been very mediocre since 2006. We have a new coaching staff, but there is still much work to be done.
  18. Would be nice to have him back against in Round 3 or 4. He is suspended Round 1 and may as well be rested against WCE, as we won't get close to them anyway. He seems to always have a cracker against Tigers, so hopefully he is back then.
  19. Must remember to sign up before Round 1. Thanks for the hardwork on the site mate.
  20. If I buy three consequtive annual memberships, will this make me eligible for lifetime membership B)
  21. Getting smashed in a 'glorified practice match' does mean something when you field a near full strength team. I do agree that playing the Pies and Hawks can only be a good thing. Hopefully we account for Port over in Adelaide and start the H&A season on a positive note.
  22. I am still confident that the current coaching staff can get the best out of this group in time. The question remains though, will the best from this group be enough? Probably not, so we will need to inject some more class via the drafting and/or trading in the next couple of years to have any hope of having a crack at a premiership. Right now, we are light years away. While I agree that NAB cup games cannot be ignored, I am still more concerned with seeing how the season unfolds for the club. I certainly do not expect us to beat teams like Hawthorn, Collingwood, and Geelong, but we need to be more competitive.
