  1. Very good news. 2 years is much better than none. Really looking forward to his continuing progress in 2013 and beyond.
  2. If Jamar has another poor year in 2013 from injuries or form, he maybe on the chopping block this time next year. May not be popular, but I believe one of either Jamar or Stef Martin should be traded, and The Russian probably has more currency ATM then he would in 12 mths time.
  3. I think there is a lot of up-side to Sellar. We haven't seen what he can fully offer us yet. Not going to cost much to keep. Worth 2 years IMO. Was he only offered one year in 2011? I thought he got 2.
  4. As if they are the only ones... I knew Dimwitreou upped the player poaching fine to $1000k, but I didn't think anti poaching rules extended to coaches or even recruiting guys. So I guess the pies will not poach any employee of any other AFL team that is currently under contract. Yeah, right......... In the end, might is right, I fear.
  5. It's an empty feeling losing someone that you love whole heartedly. You don't get over it, you just get more used to it. We love you Sam, and all the positive energy we can muster is heading your way.
  6. Honestly, who cares. Coaches, players and staff leap to other clubs regularly. We took Neeld. Ess took Wellman shortly after we re-signed him. Big deal. IP is fluid and AFL might be big business, but it's a different kinda animal from most other industries. It's an industry unto itself and inconsistency is rampant. Just look at the MRP verdicts or the current tanking investigations, or need I even mention Mr 3 Strikes feeling 'groggy'. It's a matter of power and control. If we want Taylor, will we take him now or will we say to Eddie, "sorry Mr Maguire, we'll wait till the contact is up and forgo his input into arguably the most important draft in our time?" Grow a pair, Dees!
  7. Sauce? This year or after the draft? We desperately need maximum results from this bumper draft where we are very well place with picks. No point letting the Pies hold him back from us. We are bigger than that. Show some fortituted Dees and take him when we really need him - now.
  8. One hundred women in under one hundred days, apparently. Quite an effort.
  9. All clubs - incl us - have depth players. We just play more of them in the seniors, partic with our current injury list. As we progress and improve in the next few years, these players will become more marginal and drop off the list or remain VFL players who play only when injuries permit.
  10. How many years? If kept, will be depth players only. In and out of VFL/AFL.
  11. And Cloke is a FA, so he'd cost us no picks or trades, in theory. But that's a lot of $ for one player. Would make him in the top half doz highest paid players, I'd think. How bout Montagna and Sewell, instead, as FAs? $550k p/a each (or similar rated FA mids). Would they be better than Cloke for $1.1?
  12. I think what many are saying is that we could perhaps get 2 very good players for what we would be paying Cloke, regardless of front loading. Over $1mill per year is speculated as the asking price.
  13. He's got man flu, my missus tells me. Pretty common at the moment. She know all about these things, thankfully. My best sauce.
  14. Taylor is definitely on Coll's staff list still. No mention of Rendell on it, though. I was under the impression Rendell had been poached by Bucks. If Taylor's future is with us, why doesn't he just resign and leave? Everyone in AFL circles gets poached if they are good and has to break a contract at some point. Neeld did it to come to us, Malthouse did it to go to the Pies (and broke it to leave them). Could it be deemed a restraint of trade to force him to stay? As many have said, this could be a make or break draft for the Dees.
  15. Not saying that I want Dawes, but good lord, he'd be useful in our current undersized forward line. At least for the 2nd half of the year temporarily anyway. Then I'd like to hand him back. At no cost, of course. Can someone arrange this please?
  16. Culture. Roos have a 'backs to the wall' attitude. Call it shinboner spirit, or whatever... Good list. Very good coach. Great leaders. Now have good facilities. Know the coaches game plan. Big bodies. Good skills, on the whole. We have some of these, but not many.
  17. We looked at this several months ago. Worth discussing again IMO. Isn't Rendell now at Coll? What's happening with the 2IC at Coll who is supposedly coming to us? Are we largely going to be led by Tod Viney and Tim Harrington going into this draft? Now we only have a couple of 2012 games to go, the draft must be a major priority. Edit: Interesting that many have bagged Prendegast for his legacy, yet no one has commented on Harrington part in our list selection.
  18. Actually, we are sh!te, they are sh!ter.
  19. *Yawn* .....Another plainly obvious run through the list thread.
  20. Good looking bloke (not that there is anything wrong with saying that.....), but also perhaps punching above his weight matrimonially!
  21. Both very relaxed, affable guys. Don't think they have a problem. On a slight side note, perhaps we could have had both of them if McNamee had got his way with swapping Brown for Melb's no1 2008 draft pick.
  22. You are mistaken. He has been offered a 17 year contract. That way he is out of other club's reach when he becomes eligible for free agency for a second time.
