I think you'll find that a lot of posters here, including me, are not "newby supporters". On an supporter's internet forum for a club with little success, there will inevitably be discussion on players from other clubs exploring the chance of coming to MFC. It's the internet BD, it's not court of law. Plenty of speculation and unlikely propositions come up for discussion. This thread title clearly indicates the topic of discussion. If you are sick of the topic or just so jaded about trade topics, it's simple - don't read it.

Errr, so you're giveing evidence to support recruiting other players now?!! I think you missed the point BD.... being that we won't know if he wants to come to us until we try. A mix of players we develop and those from other clubs that suit our needs is ideal. That's called building our own brand. Giving numerous games to marginal young draftees who don't come good is what we have done for the last 7-10 yrs. Given our list is considered poor by most non-MFC people, we would certainly benefit from an injection of high quality mids. If the FD believe Mitchell fits our needs, they'd be crazy not to have a go. There is not one team in the AFL that does not poach players from other teams.

Mate, we've been building our own brand for 7 yrs without any real success. What did our fanciful raids on Bris and Coll net? Clark and Dawes. I think a mix of our young draftees and some recruited from other clubs is what will happen. Given our culture has been terrible for so long, an injection of enthusiasm and professionalism from outside is not a bad thing. Players swap clubs regularly now. Rarely do they swap without agreeing to it. It's 2013, not 1973.

Given several of the swans senior players are nearing the end of their careers, I should think they'd find room to keep him if he is that good. Apart from $, why would he want to come to MFC? We wouldn't pay him massive dollars. Big money tends to go to established 24-27 yr olds, such as Mitch or Dawes. Swans will give him opportunities in time. Still, no harm in trying. But our priority must surely be for an experienced star mid with leadership skills. Do you know him somehow Ig?

Need to shut down Brown as well.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BILLY STRETCH

I'm guessing that despite his height, being lighter than Jack Viney at any age would not be uncommon. Jack is a ball of muscle. -

And why the hell do they take caffeine tablets and drink sh!t loads of energy drinks before the game if they don't enhance performance somehow? I recently got to know a ex AFL player who had been on 3 club lists of late and he said NO ONE who plays AFL does not take something (he was talking so-called legal stuff) to get them up and about for a game. Maybe I'm just a bit ignorant, but if it did not enhance the performance, why would they take it? -

It's sooooooo obviously personal for her. Very unprofessional and totally disproportionate to the facts (or should I say, lack of facts). No accountability and no apologies when she is either proven wrong, or the claim on an outcome does not eventuate. If I behaved like that in my job, I'd be absolutely ashamed........and very soon unemployed. -

Are you talking about AD? He played for Norf and the hawks. -
Then we'll need to drink more than 500,000 beers to help pay the fine. I'm in!

And wouldn't that be great. Journos need to be accountable for what they write. Yet, it's all about the number of hits an article has, not the balance of the piece. In the past, I've emailed and written in to papers calling on them to justify misleading or poorly researched articles, only to be given some lame excuse of editors or sub editors modifying content.Given that the media creates the perception and hype that we eagerly devour, defamation proceeding could work against us if they take greater offence than they do now. But I'd love to see them taken to task.

Gawn has not gawn, he has well and truly arrived
Moonshadow replied to Dees2014's topic in Melbourne Demons
It's a very pleasing start to the season for Max. Jamar is usually poor, yesterday not so much. Getting better. However The Russian palmed only 19% of his taps to advantage. Most of the other big men around the ground had around the 30% mark*.A good ruckman will get 40% + Unless Jamar marks the ball more, increases his taps to advantage and has a presence around the forward line, his days are numbered. For a big man of his skill and experience, he just doesn't do enough. Spencer has less class than Jamar, but gives so much more effort. And now we are seeing what Max is capable of. God I hope his knees hold up. Edit. *From herald sun stats, so may not be correct. -
Shaw is not the sharpest chisel in the box. Was a great player, but dumb coach and even dumber commentator. Has a good face for radio, though.

Don't like it, before or after. I cringe when I hear it.

On the Casey game thread, someone posted that they spoke with Dom and he said he has a hamstring problem.

F**k em. They can have Lucas Cook. -
I reckon there might be other clubs who have kept silent (or, like us, denied any link to him) that will be sweating an ocean at the moment.

Has Hawkins had a kick? Very quiet. Edit. Errr, forget that. 2 goals in a few mins
