Jamar to GC Prestia to MFC Though GC have good ruck stocks. Maybe a 3 way deal Jamar to GWS, someone GWS or GWS pick to GC, Prestia to MFC? Edit. Still think we need a gun like Daisy Thomas, but read today he appears to have re-injured his ankle.

Honestly Stuie, you may think your pathetic gifs are witty, but they just make you appear to be childish and a bully. In the absence of discussion you belittle with this rubbish. Come on, man, you can do better. Or can you?

If we were to get a rookie midfield coach, I'd vote for Cam Ling. However, would rather an experienced midfield coach, Ratten again maybe. We've all seen what a bunch of inexperienced coaches can do to a club that is poorly structured and lacking proven leaders.

Mrs Burgundy is an astute judge. Would she consider the top job at MFC? Or maybe club president. Would she be able to woo Roos?

Perhaps these first year players are yet to be 'Melbournised'. -
Half Time address from Peter Jackson Yesterday

Go and have a look at his first B&F speech. Talks about "us" and "we". -
Half Time address from Peter Jackson Yesterday
Moonshadow replied to Slartibartfast's topic in Melbourne Demons
With all due repect binman, I don't think that is quite true. I recall Neeld using that language immediately upon joining our club. And he would have been told to use those phrases whenever speaking to the press as soon as he started. In his first MFC speech at the 2011 B&F he used the words 'our club' and 'us'. -
Great write up Mikey. Much appreciated.

Will the MCC allow saunas, pinball machines and snow skis onto the MCG ground?

And to think that we gave Roos his worst beating only about three years ago.

How did Cameron Schwab fill in his days at the MFC?
Moonshadow replied to angrydee's topic in Melbourne Demons
And on a side note, has he paid back the god damned loan we gave him to buy a house or whatever it was? If the banks turned him down, what the hell were we doing in loaning it to him? We are a dysfunctional football club, and more so if we are loaning money to senior employees. Dumb move MFC. -
How did Cameron Schwab fill in his days at the MFC?
Moonshadow replied to angrydee's topic in Melbourne Demons
Agree absolutely. Made me cringe when Schwab spent so much effort on that nostalgic rubbish without looking at what made other clubs successful NOW. And as for Whiteboard Wednesday........blarghhhhharghhhhhh! Sorry, just vomited on my keyboard. -
Half Time address from Peter Jackson Yesterday
Moonshadow replied to Slartibartfast's topic in Melbourne Demons
After hearing Jackson's raw assessment of our club, I immediately saw how far we are from other clubs in terms of getting the right experienced people to do their jobs in a professional environment where sustainable success is the no1 priority. People who are bringing and applying their high level of knowledge to make the club run and play to the best in the AFL. Jackson is an honest, professional, insightful CEO. We'd do we'll to keep him beyond the 6mth contract he has, assuming he'd want to stay. Gotta say, he makes Cam Schwab look like a childish amateur. -
And do what your name suggests?

I heard an interesting interview with Robert Walls on the radio talking about his tense relationship with Sheedy. Walls talked about how Sheedy walked into a "Rolls Royce" club as a young coach and had loads of talent, money and support throughout his coaching days. Walls, on the other hand, was at Fitzroy and Brisbane when they were both the VFL/AFLs laughing stock clubs. He talked about how hard it was to keep homesick players (at Bris) from boarding planes back to Vic or SA and how he once had to withdraw money from his own bank account to pay what was promised to Michael McLean, because the club had no money. I'd hate to see us lose the best of our experienced players to other clubs, we have so little experience as it is. And if we lose $1.5 mill plus the money required to pay out Neeld and a range of assistants and other staff (probably close to another $1.5mill) we would be flat out broke. Vlad has said that the AFL cannot step in and take over at Melbourne in part because we are technically solvent. That would change dramatically if we went to $3mill in debt by years end.
-
As I said on another thread, we need to play our cards right over the remainder of the year, in terms of how we deal with our coach and assistants. If we sack Neeld and co now, I'm not sure anyone would go near us, experienced coach or another rookie.
-
I have supported Neeld, but recognise that the odds are stacked against him continuing on beyond this year. I have never belittled other posters for their anti-Neeld views, but tried to keep balance to my views and not blame Neeld for everything about our current situation. It is too simplistic to think that removing one man will change anything much. I am of the view that sacking Neeld now will make us even more desperate and pathetic. We need to be a club that does not panic wildly, a club that has some appeal (however small) to a new coach at the end of the year. Otherwise we will never get an experienced, super coach, like Roos, Clarkson or Woosha. It would be wrong to install another rookie coach next year, but unless we play our cards right and not appear like a club approaching its dying days, that may be all that's left for us to take. I don't think it's as easy as saying that you are for or against Neeld, rather what is the best path forward to get the systems and people in place that we badly need.
-
Very hard to see a solution out of this disaster. We'll be damned if we sack him now, and damned if we wait till seasons end. Unless we have the super coach ready to take over right now, I can't see that getting rid of Neeld and putting an interim in his place will achieve anything. I believe it will make the situation worse. We may be left with no one wanting to take over. What are our coaching options? Roos wont go near us, Clarkson has allegedly already turned us down for $1mill+ per year, Woosha wouldnt until 2014 at the earliest, Neil Craig... well, isn't he part of the current problem?, Rocket Eade, no thanks, Lethal, past it. And those here calling for Garland to go should GTFOOH. Apart from yesterday he has had a very good last month of footy. Ridiculous to call for him to be axed.

Can you imagine what our % will look like after the next 4 weeks? If it were dollars, we'd barely be able to buy a beer and pie at the game with it.

INTO DARKNESS: THE BOULEVARD OF BROKEN DREAMS
Moonshadow replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Come on Stuie, this goes far far deeper than just Neeld. Blaming one person is too easy. We are all well aware of your constant anti-Neeld ranting. He had not been a great choice, but our downfall is not all his fault. There's many Melbourne people who will be madly ducking for cover this week, and Neeld will probably fall, but to say that's all there is to it, that it is his fault is just plain simplistic. -
I wonder if Michael Nunan is available?
-
Gonna be a lot more than $1.5mill if we pay out Neeld, Craig and a bunch of assistants. Try $3mill.
-
Can't see how Neeld can last much longer, but replacing coaches mid season will not fix a thing. Our pathetic situation is far more than just the coach. We'd kill the career of Roos, Clarkson or Woosha, the way we are ATM.
