  1. Interesting that in one week's time, the city of Sydney could have the top side and the bottom side in the comp.
  2. Of course, it would help if he did a bit of research to back up his claims. Otherwise, he looks equally as foolish as Mifsud. You would think if you heard what he did from Mifsud that he'd make a few phone calls (particularly to the Melbourne indigenous players) before reporting the story. That should not be rare.
  3. Fierce AFL critic Grant Thomas to walk away from footy Thomas wants to focus on business interests, the story claims. Also mentions the clash between he and Mifsud when GT reported that Neeld treated indigenous players differently. Mifsud supposedly told him the (false) information in confidence.
  4. So he's done sweet FA in his two years at GC except cause a lot of stress? Only kiddin'
  5. Port have had quite a few major issues and events that could also see it put in the too hard basket, which many in the media industry (FWIW) have put us in. While not parallel, there are current similarities with Port to MFC of the last 12-18 mths. Low on cash Low membership No coach and assistants on thin ice Struggling to keep star players (but Boak re-signed) Death of someone within the club Low on ladder Add the AFL taking over their licence from the SA State comp. Port have not yet had the type of scrutiny that Neeld received this year, or events out of the blue, such as LJs court case or the Energy Watch debacle. However, my point is that these things add up to destabalise a club significantly and high quality coaches, players and administrators may be very reluctant to join up.
  6. I think good assistants who see themselves as 'career' coaches are far more discerning nowadays. They know that no matter how good they think they are, that an awful 2-3 years at a struggling, poor club can effectively kill your career.
  7. But isn't F/S bidding completed before the player trading period even begins?
  8. Good lord, if Sheeds can get another gig, then ND certainly can at half the age.
  9. You've been living in a dream, unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately). I went through primary and sec school being the only one wearing Dees colors. I fear for my daughter.
  10. Probably rather be involved in a team heading towards finals rather than a team that will battle for the next 5 years (you decide whether I'm referring to Port or us).
  11. Well, you know what they say, from little things big things grow. That pretty much sums up this thread, hey.
  12. How'd you manage that? My old man is a Dee supporter and I know of only 2 others. You mean there are more than just a handful out there?
  13. Lol! My 4y/o has had no choice. She was shouting "Go He-mans!" at age 2 cause she couldn't say demons. Sounds alright to me.
  14. Sums it up perfectly dpos. Should be what this thread is about.
  15. Gutsy player who gave everything he had. Not super talented, but put himself on the line repeatedly. Sounds like he gave his all at Casey as well. Shame we can't convince him to sell the nursery and take up a full time midfield assistant role at MFC. Would be a very good asset to the FD. Hope his son is a cracker.
  16. Might be cut n paste article, but very usefule to clarify FA rules. I wasn't aware that RFAs could be traded if their original club matches the offer.
  17. Or when we got done for busting our salary cap?
  18. Topic going round in circles. No one except DL likes the idea, and he's not a business man. Buying an overpriced pub which is not for sale so that we can get a licenced venue built across the road??? Doesn't sound smart to me.
  19. No thanks. Worth too much money - I'm guessing several million. Would need to spend a bit to renovate to a reasonable standard. If the Pies can't make a fist of running a bunch of pubs and poke venues with all of their cash and resources, I wouldN't want us doing the same. Where would this cash come from? Let's make a success of our current assets before going into significant debt again. Maybe you could buy it for the club.......
  20. Ch 10 news just reported that the Dees apparently have a 2 yr deal on offer to Byrnes as a RFA
  21. Howcroft is a very smart operator. I wonder if MFC has use of his marketing expertise. Pardon my ignorance, but what do the MFC board members actually do? Do the have an active, hands-on input into the running of the club or do they just ratify recommendations?
  22. With Choko Williams now at Richmond, they are well placed to lure young GWS talent next year.
  23. Do you mean Rich are circling GWS players or vice versa? And aren't their picks from last year on standard 2 year deals, which means they are still contracted? GWS can refuse to part with the player.
